    Great review as always. This RS is too expensive and clearly not really an RS. VW needs to react properly to better cars coming from Asia.

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Год назад +3

      Legacy automakers in general need to react. But I think they're playing it safe, not believing the 2035 deadline will really happen. TBH I don't believe it will really happen. There are bound to be some delays, loopholes, etc.

    • @adrianguggisberg3656
      @adrianguggisberg3656 Год назад

      Yeah, 2035 isn't going to happen. It also won't matter because it's going to be difficult to sell ICE cars in meaningful numbers in western Europe even before 2030. Some of the developping countries will take a bit longer, but the show will be over before 2035, mandatory or not.

    • @rlinkandroidauto-xe9sg
      @rlinkandroidauto-xe9sg Год назад

      @@adrianguggisberg3656Except if some sort of durable alternative for petrol rises up to the occasion, which I still believe is possible. This would lead to some adaptations to thr 2035 plans. But it should then obviously come sooner rather than later, or like you said, it would be too late since most car companies would've stopped their production and R&D on ICE's.

    • @adrianguggisberg3656
      @adrianguggisberg3656 Год назад

      @@rlinkandroidauto-xe9sg China decided it's EVs for them. That means it's EVs everywhere because they will crank out so many so cheap that everyone not fit for the challenge will be doomed.

    • @rlinkandroidauto-xe9sg
      @rlinkandroidauto-xe9sg Год назад

      @@adrianguggisberg3656 Well, if they're cheap, then I guess, it's fair. But thinking everyone has at least 35k euros to invest in a new car (which is what the cheapest decent EVs cost at the moment) is unrealistic and will not work out.

    So, the Tesla model Y LR is 1) quicker, 2) more efficient, 3) has superchargers, and 4) cheaper. With Tesla having fixed most of their quality control issues by now, what's the reason to buy this?

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Год назад

      None.

    • @JanHenrik541
      @JanHenrik541 Год назад

      I agree with the above, but remember with the price cut in January resell value plummeted for existing owners. Now Tesla have adjusted prices again in the states. And you won’t get USS, must rely on Tesla Vision. Still seems worth it imho.

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Год назад +2

      @Jan Henrik I can imagine, how older Tesla owners got pissed off, when prices dropped. I'm not a fan of the whole Tesla operation, and I'm sceptical about EVs in general to say the least. I rented a TMY for a month, to see what the hype is all about. I will report back in May after some 3k km. After a week I haven't found a reason to consider another EV (unless you really need something significantly smaller for the city).

    • @JanHenrik541
      @JanHenrik541 Год назад

      @@MarekDrivesENG yes, it’s still early days of EV mainstream adoption despite what many EV supporters thinks. For being a someone that is skeptical about EV in general I think your reviews are very good. We’ve ordered an EV from the Volkswagen group but signed the contract before the Tesla price reduction, Model Y was out of budget and thus not considered at the time. I think a lot more people will be considering EV as competition brings the costs down and sales aren’t driven by government incentives as much.

    I'm curious Marek, did the ID4 and Enyaq you tested have heat pumps? I wonder how a heat pump impacts range. OMG that colour.... OMG my eyes.... LOL. Apparently the ID7 has a new centre screen and software and a much nicer interior. It's like VW group knows their EVs are half baked and they continually show it by revealing new updates that will be avail in a yr from now. I looked at the ID4 AWD. Thought it had all of the numbers on the spec sheet but boy it's expensive and they keep dropping options. The software is awful, no heat pump now, no premium stereo, no folding mirrors, no surround camera.... ugh. Come on VW. Anyways, nice honest video as always!

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Год назад +3

      Heat pump isn't an option for the Enyaq in Poland, but is available on the ID.4/5. Probably an element of product positioning, because otherwise there's really no reason to buy the VWs ID products. Not that Skoda is great, but it's less bad :)
      In Germany Skoda does offer a heat pump as an option.
      I know it's supposed to be more efficient, but I'd have to drive a car with and without a heat pump in the same conditions to be able to make any judgements. With cars being delayed as they are, I'm lucky to get whatever, and asking for specific equipment is out of the question. This particular car was supposed to be on the press fleet in June 2022. I'm sure you noticed the weather outside didn't look very June-ish :)

    • @kevinn1158
      @kevinn1158 Год назад +1

      @@MarekDrivesENG haha. Yah. I finally drove an ID4 AWD a month ago. It was pretty good except for the software and the inflated price and the stupid wait times. And I felt like the interior quality was that of a car 30k dollars cheaper. Now VW is showing the ID7 and an updated ID3 with much better interiors. The ID7 looks like it's got a completely new software setup. It makes me really wonder if these cars are going to be obsolete in 4 yrs. I glanced at our used car auto trader and used 4 yr old Etrons are 60k when they were 90k new. And these cars aren't selling.

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Год назад +1

      I'll believe it, when I see it. I know heads were chopped off for this sorry excuse for software, but I from what I've seen so far on YT it looks like another patch-up.

    Kia and Hyundai both beat VW group cars for interesting looks and more functional controls. As well as making actual cars, rather than just plug ugly SUVs. And where is Skoda’s iD3? Hopefully it won”t look like a rebadged Born/iD3. Keep up the good work, Marek.

    Oh how the times and brand perception change. Not so long ago, if you drove a Skoda, instead of Moskvitch or a Lada, you were fine, middle class. Then some years passed and if you drove a Skoda, instead of an Opel or Ford, you were piss-poor, not desirable. And now you look like a catch in a Skoda. WHAT?!? Need time to adapt to that new reality 😅 Absolutely love the front though. Reminds me of a time when BMWs were pretty. Sorry, BMW fan boys.

    In general for this type of cars SKODA and SEAT are overpriced. Now, the questions is how to lower the price and to provide mid-term innovations such as LPG/methane and/or Diesel plug-in hybrids. One way would be to assemble the cars in China and to import them back to Europe without any import fees. The same the U.S. does with their products, they are assembled in China and imported back to the U.S. without any taxes because they are sold by an American company.
