If they’re broke and not working- No you’re fine to break up
If they’re broke and working a crap minimum job and not willing to apply themselves- … still understandable
If they’re broke and working at a job that requires at minimum a Masters degree- Absolutely not okay
Is it wrong to break up with a “BROKE BOI”? #shorts
You can break up with anyone for any reason. Just like you think having a master's degree is an asset so you shouldn't break up, she (who clearly didn't want to follow in her mom's footsteps so went out to get a higher-paying job) is allowed to want someone to earn more.
This is a dumb take. It doesn’t matter how hard Gregory is working or how hard he worked to get it, he’s working at a job that does not pay enough and he’s dating a women who likes money. She doesn’t owe him anything she can break up with him if she wants to😂😂😂
To Taylor’s defense, she never told Gregory he was a broke boi. She told her mama privately. Barbara was wrong for telling him. Taylor was “pietering” out until she could break it to him the same way Gregory was.
@@sarahj287 True but he was a “broke boi” when they started dating lol. She should’ve known what she was getting into when she decided to start dating him.
I think Taylor probably wanted to go to fancy restaurants and Gregory didn’t because he’s picky about food. And also he does strike me as more of a saver not a spender.
That's a good point. -Brandon
Y'all do know Chris/Jacob is straight in real life right 🤣😂
lol nah I actually did not know that. Thanks for the info!!
-Adison
wait, really?? where did you get that info??
Taylor knew Gregory wasn't making money like that from the beginning, so her even deciding to date him was on her. Gregory knew Taylor was high maintenance and him deciding to date her anyway was on him.
Both had no business dating each other, they were both too different and unwilling to compromise to be together. That's why it's usually best to be in relationships with people who have similar interests, goals and aspirations. People who are opposites can work but both parties have to be willing to compromise for the other person, otherwise the relationship won't last.
And Barbara messing up people names they took that from a actual thing that really happened with her in real life they put it in the show
It actually makes sense for Barbara to know Michael J. Fox and not Michael B. Jordan because Michael J. Fox was a huge star in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
For the Ludacris situation, they took it from most kids nowadays knowing more street music/life than things their age. It’s more common than you think. Also Elon Musk is pictured with his wife Grimes lol
Bro let it go about the Ludacris thing. 😂😂😂
I cant fam! 🤣😂🤣 -Brandon
I couldn’t work if I were a single mom teacher. My entire paycheck would go to daycare and insurance.
Funny thing about how Mrs Howard and the names, that’s cus Sheryl Lee Ralph w would do that in real life, the Quinta Brunson (Jeanine ) then since she’s show runner and writer she incorporated it into her character 😂
Great convo! I love this show and enjoy the reviews. Keep it coming y’all 💯👏🏾
I think Barbara probably makes more more than Gregory because she's been teaching longer and Gregory is in his first year. Also, Barbara graduated in the 80s when college was not as expensive and probably doesn't have student loan debt, plus she is married and isn't living on a single income and probably bought a house in the 90s when housing is more affordable and has the mortgage paid off. Barbara and Gregory have the same job but their circumstances are not the same.
Kid’s happy Jeanine quiet Gregory fine 😅😅😂
As far as the question of 'would u date a broke boi' is concerned, I think that people should just be able to choose what they want. Some women want a man that's 6 feet or taller and some are okay with a 5'5" height. Some men want a woman with a slim physique, some are okay if they are on the fluffier side. And some women (and even men) want a man that has good credit score, a great job that earns a good income, or maybe in Barbara's daughter's case, a man that makes at least what she does. Others dont care how much u make and place more value on non tangible things. I say let people want what they want. There is someone out there for everybody. I cant really tell someone to not want a man or woman who earns say $100,000 per annum if thats what they want. And some want it now and aren't willing to wait for them to get to that level. Let them go find that person. Better they do that than stick it out, wasting that person's time and then end up breaking up with them due to being unhappy and undervaluing them, treating them as some sort of project or investment.
Right? We already saw how he was clearly struggling keep up going to higher-end restaurants with the daughter, and the value difference was beginning to show.
exactly. if everyone had this POV, there would be no more "debates" and arguments about it. Everyone has preferences, just date people who fit yours.
17:15 Gregory is what it's called a "fixer upper" , he is broke but young, educated and ambitious.
In the words of the great Whitley Gilbert, "that kind of man is never broke".
But he needs a woman who can live with the bare minimum for a few years while dealing with his extra-selective taste in food, which is for me, the real dealbreaker.
Ngl, your comment at 0:26 kinda rubbed me the wrong way. You can't offer a simple compliment (about hair at that) to someone from the LGBTQ community without thinking that they'll interpret it as flirting/take it the wrong way..? side eye
Don't let it rub you the wrong way. I made my intentions about the compliment clear and I also expressed what I did and did not mean in regards to what my compliment entailed. Am I not allowed to clearly define what I mean with supporting statements? Would you rather me be vague?
-Adison
Some straight men really can’t. Funny thing tho the guy who plays Jacob is straight in real life lol
@@edn I can see both points. I dont think anyone would've thought saying a guy has a nice haircut means ur into them though. So I dont think that needed to be clarified...at all. Now when Jacob said Gregory was hot and he clarified that, then yeah, sure. Hot can mean attractive, and it was for comedic relief. But I think overall the 'no homo' prefaced compliments from a man to a man is kinda unnecessary.
You actually brought up a great point. Jacobs encounter with Gregory was the exact same thing I did essentially, just the roles were reversed. Jacob clarified what he meant the same way I did.
-Adison
@@edn Yes, you could've left it vague because it was a simple compliment about hair & I don't think anyone would've ever interpreted that as anything else than what it was. & Hard disagree on that 2nd response. Jacob called Gregory ''hot'' which is a term often used to flirt which is why he had to nip it in the bud. You said 'no homo' after complimenting that someone who happens to be gay on a good haircut.
And I guess if someone isn’t on the level you are at, it can be fine to end the relationship
Which is interesting because nowadays it’s dating on levels. Unlike back then which was one person can provide while the others takes care of the family or whatever
@@rentfreeinheads8995 You can have your own setups- people can choose either option for themselves. She works in NY- doesn't seem like she wanted to stay home and take care of the family "or whatever"...especially on his teacher salary, it would be difficult. Neither does he indicate that he wants to stay at home, and have her provide.
@@lilalion184 wait did you not read what I said. I definitely said back in the fucking day meaning NOT IN THIS GENERATION
Which the show is expressing. You must’ve not read what I said “or whatever” because it’s simple, NOWADAYSSSSSS PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO DATE PEOPLE ON THEIR LEVEL.
Guess you can’t read
I am also from Memphis, my cousins played football at Tresvant high school, and I also do not believe the story that was told to Brandon. It sounds like one of those Memphis fables we all heard of them not Brandon’s fault.
Great reaction 😂🔥🔥🔥
Depends what n how the brokenness came about and how long it has lasted and why it has lasted that long
How he have a masters but only subbing (or did I miss him getting his teaching credentials and getting hired)
The season 1 ended with him taking the position full time.
Teacher lifestyle is also not conducive to dating tbh.
That's an interesting point! Are you saying that due to the amount of time the job requires or because of some other things?
-Adison
@@edn both. You wake up early. You have so much to do outside contract hours. If you live in a small town it’s hard to date because the single ppl are your coworkers or the parents of your students-the emotional burden of working in schools is also a lot to carry
Not true at all. My sister is a elementary school teacher and she dates. It doesn't matter what job you have or how much you're getting paid, being in a relationship or dating is possible. Somebody out there will love and accept a person whether they make 100k or 10k. At the end of the day, Taylor was not the right person for Gregory. She was a plot point anyway between Gregory and Janine, so I'm glad she's gone.
@@lirpa2300 it is true in some situations? Glad it works for them but in my area it’s very difficult. Small town, not a lot of options for places to go. Everyone knows each other.
48 k is starting Nashville pay for teachers.
Doable if you have a partner or roomies. But with every bill skyrocketing and housing crisis, this isn’t enough. Especially because on paper it’s 40 hours a week, but it’s more like 50 ish and all the other BS.
@@cait_bean my district had us pushing 80-100 hours many weeks. So much unnecessary, pointless paperwork (that we weren’t allowed to do during the work day).
Pretty sure thats a picture of Elon Musk and Grimes(babys mother)
YASSSSSSSIR👏🏾👏🏾
when are you guys watching seven deadly sins episode 2
I find it weird that you consider the daughter a "modern" woman, considering wanting your partner to make $ is a very "traditional" concept.
I find this comment weird. In this generation right now of 2020 fucking 3! That dating people that are on the same level is the modern woman. While “traditional” is not how people are going about it now
It’s simple as hell. I’m 22 you gotta be old as hell
All you paid attention to is the word "modern" and nothing after that. She said he's a "broke boi" because he cant afford to go to fancy restaurants all the time. I followed my statement of modern by saying she an Instagram and tiktok girl wanted to post a lavish lifestyle. Nothing wrong with wanting a man with a good income. But it is something wrong with putting someone down for working with the youth. She clearly doesn't care much about him otherwise she would know he was supposed to be the principal which makes more money and requires more credentials. She is "Modern" meaning she wants everything that glitters instantly, without giving things time to grow. The modern world is intant gratification and highlight reels of other people's lives. Hopefully I clarified what I meant. Thanks for watching with us.😁 -Brandon
I'm not much older than you, I just understand life so I have more wisdom than most people my age. Just because someone isnt on your level financially doesn't mean they can't be on your level. There was probably women who were ahead a Steve Jobs financially, but he had a plan and ambition. I never said its something wrong to want a man with nice income. But the way she put that man down for doing a noble job is not cool. Just be careful who you put down in the dating world, might be the next Bill Gates. 😏Hopefully I clarified my statement. -Brandon
