Brushes are some of my fav! Did you see BK on Good Morning America a week or so ago. I was so glad to see them get the exposure. They have great brushes and seem like a great company.
What I HUGELY appreciated is in the BK beauty youtube vid about this new release is they were very clear about the fact that the bristles of the brushes are identical to the original release, it is just the handles/ferrules that are different. I thought this was very transparent and good customer relations. Top marks for that
I used to feel like that with my super expensive brushes. Then I thought, why not use them. I’m not going to be around forever. Why leave them for someone else to enjoy? So now they are in my brush rotation. I have 2 Japanese calligraphy brushes my husband purchased while stationed in Japan. They are spectacular. So I may just purchase the Koyo. I haven’t bought smashbox shadows in years. I will check them out. They do look pretty. ❤
Someone once said (can't remember who sorry) that the best way to take care of them was to use them as then you're cleaning them and things so they won't get bugs
I absolutely cannot WAIT to buy the Rephr brushes. Im in and out of the house all day today and I’ve already been obsessively refreshing their site! 😂😂The face brush is gorgeous and a steal at that price. I’m super interested in the shapes of the eye brushes! I can’t wait to try them!
I purchased my Rephr set last night, and it's already shipped. I love adding new shapes to my collection, and these look like ones that I'll actually use. I know exactly what you mean by brushes that are too precious to use. I've learned that I am most satisfied with purchases that I get use out of, not just eye candy 😊.

That is a crazy good price for the Smash box eyeshadow! $29 is unheard of for a palette that size and with good quality shadows! Thank you also for talking about the brushes. @@MsBNoodle I would say that in terms of softness and in general, I think that they are a little better than the BK Beauty ones (or at any rate at least as good!). Though I do like the BK Beauty ones a lot too.

Smashbox - 4 for 4 are warm toned. The rabbi of the cool-toned revolution is unhappy. The one you picked out with the pinks/purples/mauves would have been a perfect one to throw in a few cool neutrals - a cooler deep brown, a taupe . . . Ugh. But I’m here for all the brushes!
You've just hit the mark on why Smashbox isn't the brand it was. Where are the cool toned eye palettes in this launch? There aren't any. And yet, everyone has been begging for cooler palettes for some time. Some of my older Holy Grails are by Smashbox. But there isn't one of these new palettes that work for me either.

All the brushes❤❤❤❤ I completely agree with you on Rephr being great every day brushes. While I LOVE my Sonia G brushes and I consider them workhorses too, I still lean into my Rephr on a day to day basis because of the quality and price. I liken it to how I am with PML mothership palettes. Yes, I love them. Yes, they are beautiful. Yes, I create one of kind looks. No, I don’t use them daily. No, I do not travel with them. I’m happy to have high end natural brushes that I’m not going to lose my mind if I drop one while traveling like I would with Sonia G. I’m excited about this brush launch and the BK Beauty one too, even though I have all those but they are also my favorite synthetic brushes.
Okay, I got the special Rephr holiday brush last year … and don’t use it that much because I think I’ll have to wash it specially! Did last year’s include squirrel hair? How is this one different?
I don’t believe last year had any special hair. I need to go back and look but it would be cleaned exactly like your other brushes so go for it and use it 🙂

I think squirrel here is such a divine experience. I understand what you’re saying. The minute it gets into squirrel territory brands up the price and up the luxuriousness of the handle and maybe it’s a good idea not to so that it can kind of be for the people so to speak

Hello fellow-Canadian: if you want an angled brush of great quality, you might want to consider the Bobodo CH-1 angled brush, which also has a mix of squirrel and goat hair. Not only is the CH-1 more dense, but it’s about half the price ($66-70 Canadian depending on the exchange rate).
The BK brushes look to be super cheap and much lower quality. The model of them looks the same as Wet n Wild and some other brushes Kylie did at one point.
I must be dumb. The rephr link does not work. & even navigating website, they are not available. Pretty sloppy on rephr back end!!!! :/ You look gorgeous and thank you soooo much for awesome review ❤️❤️❤️
I'm interested in those Rephr brushes. I have a lot of them and the quality is great. I am, however, sick of these kinds of rollouts for new products. They gift it to every influencer on the planet (seriously. There is not one person I watch who has not been gifted these brushes. Same for many people I Don't watch.) Plus you all feel compelled to give them a full show. And not one of you has the price. By the time noon EDT rolls around, if they hit us with a price over $100 for that one with the leaves, I'll be so pissed off I'll avoid Rephr for months at least. Too much hype. Too high a price for most viewers. One influencer is even doing a Live with the founder tonight. This launch doesn't really merit that IMO. It's overkill. Pardon my rant, but really?!?!? As for Smashbox, no rant here. Smashbox doesn't get the love they deserve. And it's surprising. They actually made a big splash when TV shopping was all there was to reach a large audience. They pioneered Primer. I still think theirs performs better than anyone's. They had a slew of Pro products and brushes (synthetic, but I still use mine. They've aged amazingly well.). And they had great problem solvers, like mattifying compacts and concealers. And their eye palettes were very good. I still have a Matte Exposure palette that I use with almost every eyeshadow look I do. Even their lipsticks were excellent. But they somehow lost their way. Other companies surpassed them for inventiveness, and now, many people don't buy them. They pitch to a younger audience, but it seems they keep missing the mark. This is a pretty eye palette. Glad you showed it. I actually watched this video just for Smashbox. I keep hoping they'll bring in someone to whip them into shape and to capture their lost glory. Probably unrealistic. But they were a very fine, non celebrity owned, American brand. Thanks for the video. Pretty makeup on you. I'll be checking Rephr at noon my time, just to see.💚
Hey, rant justified. I am always open to a good rant and a good vent. So you are always welcome to do that here. I am so pleased that you came just for the Smashbox review. I wanted to pick up more than one shade but they were actually sold out and all the other colors at my Ulta. I just felt they deserve some love as I have a very soft spot for them. There are studios are here in Los Angeles and I have spent a lot of time in my editorial career
I love BK beauty. But Re’pher? What a horrible name for a company! It reads as either “rape her” or only slightly less repellent “reefer”. Seriously, who signed off on this brand name? No way would I purchase from a company who puts so little thought into their own name. How could I trust them to be thoughtful about ingredients?

Love the Brush but it’s $100 US. As a Canadian that’s about $140. Yikes.
