      I’m glad you like that aspect Ann! Sometimes when I say things out loud I seem to zero in on a solution faster for some reason:)

    I love your videos, they’re very informative! I’m new to metal smithing and the way you present projects makes them easy to follow along.

    Very nice ring. I've never seen a CZ of that shape before, it's really attractive. I think you hit on a perfect way to set it onto a ring, that setting really seems to show it off to good effect. I like the idea of sweat soldering the square wire to the ring base, and also love the idea of using the ends of the wire to bend up into the prongs. Very nice.

      Thanks Bees. I was pleased with the square wire prong design too!

    Well done!! My mind is melting just thinking about all the angles you need to take into account to set that stone! I have enough fun setting baguettes and emerald cuts…..fancy cuts make me nervous lol. Maths and I are not the best of friends lol. Can I ask what you made the little seating piece from?

    Hi! What shears are those that cut 18g sheet? Thanks.

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  2 месяца назад

      The Fiskars shears I use most of the time will cut 18 gauge, but it takes a toll on the shears. They will wear out more quickly than usual because of the plastic base they are built around.

    Great work, I wonder if I ever could reach your soldering skills so my question/suggestion is, could the tiny prongs be made as two closed rings with the ends curled and then put on the ring shank and kept in place by tension. This way theycan be placed at ease and stay stable during soldering?

      If I’m understanding what you describe, that would probably work Ilan. If tension is the only thing keeping something in place, it may move as heating will anneal out any springiness it might have. Thanks for the comment!

      @@chadssilversmithing Thanks. The idea was inspired by making prongs of bent wire holding by tension to the bezel ring.

      I finally broke a pair of those shears:). They survived 200 videos! Most people saw sheet when it’s as thick as this. That works too!
