Among the many exciting new fields that are beginning to utilize Unreal Engine for its real-time graphics capabilities is virtual production. The ability to generate realistic, high performance graphics in real-time, plus the added benefits of flexibility and connectivity with a wide variety of hardware make Unreal a great option for a virtual production workflow of any scale.
In this video, Jack DiLaura walks you through setting up your own virtual production environment in Unreal Engine, complete with a webcam texture sent from OBS that allows you to be a part of the scene in real time! You’ll work with OBS to capture the texture from the webcam, the Nvidia Broadcast plugin to remove the background from the image, and an NDI plugin to send the texture to Unreal. In Unreal Engine, you’ll work through installing an NDI SDK plugin, setting up an NDI receiver within the scene, and using a cinecamera to output the scene.

Awesome video! Thanks for the simple walkthrough. QQ, is there a way to stream this media server into a texture?
Our pleasure! Yes, actually the NDI SDK plugin used in the video also allows for streaming/outputting textures over NDI as well as receiving them 😀 It's a pretty useful plugin!
You used to be able to modify the NDI texture to give it an emissive quality, do you know if that's still possible?
It looks like you can modify the underlying material to be emissive, but that said was this a more easily accessible property in the Details panel?
