Skill work in season is ridiculous. The start of skill work should be from September 1, to the start of school basketball season. Kids should not be playing AAU. Unless it’s 6th grade and below. Unfortunately the high schools in garland TX aka South Garland. Choose to do fucking track in field instead of skill work during this time. It was a trend going on with the high schools in DSID, sad. Player development is what the player do in his position or role both sides of the bal for there team. I mention this to a coach before the season start and why my son doesn’t play AAU after September 1. Coach look at me like I’m crazy. So I ask, when does the player really get better?
We can agree players need an off season to prioritize skill work. What we suggest is that all great players find time for skill work in season as well. We as coaches can help facilitate that.
