    Great points…. I would argue, comparing eras is tough to do bc the game today is a result of the Dream Team…the explosion in international basketball can arguably be traced back to the’93 Olympics…. The Dream Team had 2 elite shooters….the reason Bird and Mullin didn’t shoot many 3s was bc of coaching…a Savi Coach would know that…😂😂 I’d argue that a lineup of Magic, Jordan, Bird, Pippen and Robinson/Malone would not be blown out by Team 24…. A Dream Team playing in a Rae and space conceptual offense would absolutely give Team 24 a run for their money… With all things being equal Magic, Jordan, and Pippen are all above average rackers…Bird is better shooter than anyone on team 24 not named Curry…. I have a question for you as Mark, Steph Curry is a player that has a reputation of when he shoots it’s a surprise when he misses. Would you agree that Larry Bird had that same reputation?…

    Yeah, the off hand placement and not caring about body placement is just going to develop bad habits that are harder to break later on. The shot is to “hitchy”. You can see that from the practice shots. Teach the kid the right way from the start. Shorter goals, proper size balls for age, and throw the 3 point line in the trash. Slow and steady with proper form will win the race as they grow and get stronger. No shortcuts needed.

    Tips on getting more power on shots for a young girl? Daughters first time playing and she shoots two handed as of now and air balls most of the time on a ten ft rim. I’d figured they’d have them playing on shorter rims but I guess not.

    I was nervously trying to find this video because my first practice is this Monday. Didn't realize i just needed to search "youth basketball shooting" and it would be the very first video! 😂😂😂 Now, for the serious stuff: I can't lower the rims at my school. I also can't adjust the 3 point line, etc... I know that making these changes for shorter and smaller, helps the child, psychologically, but my dilemma is, when they have the play, unfortunately, they aren't playing with a shorter rim and a closer 3pt line... And in a situation like mine when a scrimmage is coming up on 11/7 and the first game is coming up like 8 or 9 days later, how would you suggest I accommodate for this small window?

    I'll play devils advocate here. To me, the downsides of Lock Left are that you are allowing players to get downhill at a higher rate and putting your team in rotation at a much higher rate than you would with Zone, Packline, or any defense that offers Gap Help. I've ran Lock Left and I love it, but there are times I get out of it when we play teams that have very good guards we don't want in the paint. Sometimes I feel it's just better to stay in front of our guy, stay out of rotation, and get a good contest on shots off the dribble. With that said, we will be locking left, but these are the things that scare me at times.

    In your last video with Charlie, you pointed out how she was was consistently jumping forward which was a result of her being off balance when shooting. I see Dylan also jumping forward and to the left. I'm curious if this is something you would also try to fix for him, or if not, why not? Thanks Coach!

    who is curry guarding? who is lebron (age 42) guarding? embiid can't guard dudes from south sudan, you're telling me he's slowing david robinson down? mulllin, stockton, bird, jordan, barkley could all shoot-- they didn't work on it as much back then. but speaking of pippen, he could guard anybody on the other side. so could jordan 1-4 (in the modern game). i like you guys, but you're crazy on this one.

    Ok, serious disrespect for 92 Dream Team. Only Larry Bird was at the tail end of his career. 1. Almost everyone was below the age of 32 and several (Robinson, Barkley, Malone, Stockton and Mullin were all getting to the peak of their career. 2. Mullins would be an elite shooter on this team (only Olympian to avg 50% from 3pt range & 60% from the field) and the smaller court/3 pt line made Jordan, Pippen, Barkley, and even Magic very good 3 pt shooters. 3. Here is the huge difference between these 2 teams- DEFENSE! Our current team struggles to play help in any form. 1992 Dream Team guarded the ball well and had very little issue with the FIBA rules. Although not a 3-pt shooting crazy team the 92 Dream Team attacked the basket constantly and as a result put other teams in foul trouble- this would be an issue for the current Olympic team. To say these 92 Dream Team players don't move like today is crazy: Pippen, Jordan, Malone, Robinson, Barkley, and Drexler were all VERY athletic and would have no issue adjusting to style of play. Ewing would be tough inside and if you think Stockton wouldnt be able to play and adjust then you have been blinded by the current style of play. It would be a good game to watch (the 92 team would be so much physically tougher to battle) but I think the Redeem Team 2008 is better than the 24 Team).

    Hi Coach What’s your thoughts on how he shoots from his left shoulder? I do the same (but on the right side, as I’m right handed). I get really good arc and power because I’m using my my right shoulder - but the ball often misses to the right. If shoot from the middle of my body (ie near my right eye) - it feels more straight but it’s harder to get arc! My hand placement is already on opposite hemispheres too. Thanks in advance Coach!

    • @SAVICoaching
      @SAVICoaching 3 месяца назад

      Each shooter is different and their shot is like a fingerprint. I have no problem with shooting from the shoulder, power and arc are a must! Shooting straight can be improved so I’d keep doing it.
