CAN WE appreciate how Solar is so open about regularly using box hair dyes on her own instead of going to expensive celebrity saloons. Like its so refreshing to see that Solar, one of the biggest idols in Kpop freely admitting how bad her hair gets from extensive treatments & not going to salon because it's too expensive. We always only see mediocre beauty youtubers saying bad things abt box dyes & making young girls feel bad for not able to afford salon treatments. Hell, I even know grown ass women that are pressured to go to expensive salons even when they can't afford it. So happy that Solar is so down-to-earth & open about this side of her, showing that the illusion of the "perfect" idol is not real, and that idols go through the same struggles of everyday people too ❤️❤️❤️
You can still get dyes other than box dyes sometimes for an even cheaper price and do it at home tho. It's just that box dyes are formulated in a way to be a little intense to work for everyone, so they're more damaging and make future attempts of dying the hair harder.
Like @Little Vanity said, you can get all the salon-grade stuff, and it's much more cost-effective and doesn't damage your hair as badly. If you only wanted to dye your hair a darker color like Solar is doing, it would cost you 4 dollars for a tube of color and like 6 for a 32 oz bottle of developer. Box dyes typically use 40 vol, when all you really need is 20 or 30 for any sort of lift, even on really dark hair and only 10 if you're already blond and just want to add color.
Reason why someone prevents you from box dye was probably bcs they experienced the hassle to fix it. Many come to the salon with destroy hair from their own worked from box dye. Hair stylist got more experienced and have the knowledge so if u want an extremely makeover for the hair please do go to the salon and do search on the stylist. The worse thing could happen than having wrong color is probably the frying of your own hair

nat Actually it’s more of a scalp inflammation. When I’ve had my hair color treated, the stylist always took care not to get the dyes to touch the scalp as much as possible to prevent scalp irritation (at least). Also it’s probably all the bleaching that did the most harm because that stuff is too intense and toxic. Hope hers heals soon!

I know right, it actually comes as a shock to me considering that mamamoo is one of the top girl groups so i thought they would have gotten more attention and care to avoid such things, but it seems like they’re just like us when it comes to hair damage.

Good to know that Yong actually sought medical treatment for damaged/irritated scalp. And that she's been taking extra care for her scalp and hair.
As someone who's been coloring/dying my hair for the past 8 years, scalp health and hair health as well is definitely important. You don't want a damaged hair or scalp after s coloring/dyeing session. I hope she maintains this hair color and her hair becomes healthier than before.
When she looks directly into camera like this, I feel such a warm feeling. I love listening to her talk. I love how serious and sincere she is about small details. And I love how she hypes us up.
