- We're heartbroken to share the very sad news about our friend Matt Pollard who passed away last weekend surrounded by his family.
We are planning another Mattwood show later this year. For now, please join us as we send our thoughts and love to Matt's family Xx
Matt's RUclips channel: / @mattsmotors15
Matt's story:
• Dear Car Community, I ...
• I Organised The World'...
You're a good man. May he rest in peace.
So sad, I hope to see the MattWood Memorial festival in the future to raise money for charity
yh i agree a proper car guys send off needs be done , rip matt
It would also be fair to give that to the dad and sister who must be working their asses for providing income, care and still try to keep a good mood about it
I think the MattWood edition that's coming up now should be the car guy send off. There'd be no real MattWood without Matt obviously but i gues a farewell festival in his name would be a good one.
@@destructionnl8165 They should keep it as Mattwood to honour his name and keep his story alive. I think it’s a great idea to keep it going and keep his family involved if they wish to do so.
Rest in Peace Matt Pollard 😔
Fucking hell. As a father, having a son diagnosed with terminal cancer and a deadline on how long your son is going to live, I cannot imagine the pain.
All the best to Matt's family, may you find comfort in all the loving memories of Matt.
It's unthinkable isn't it. Glad we got to meet him through here though.
I can not comprehend how painful it must be to go through that. My boy is my world
@@beachuk2000 same here…
You’re not alone man. The community is here to help x
Thank you Ant , We made the best of the worst possible situation. He lived life to the fullness. ❤
Incredibly saddened by the news. I never managed to make it to Mattwood, but actually met Matt by chance by buying an old camera off of him from his ad on FB marketplace. I went round to pick up the camera from his house, and ended up spending about an hour just kicking tyres and chatting about cars. His pure enthusiasm and passion for cars was incredible, and will cherish the brief moment I had with Matt for a long time. RIP Mr. Pollard and thank you autoalex team for all you've done.
Glad you got to meet my Son . Use his positivity to everything you dream of. ❤
@@andypollard7024 thanks for the reply Andy and very sorry for your loss. You raised a wonderful young man of which you should be most proud of ♥️
You are owed nothing and you can't feel sorry for yourself - Matt Pollard
Great words to live by at any age, RIP Matt
100%

I want to say that you guys are absolute gents. I think that the way that you have used the success of the AutoAlex channel to help people like Matt and of course Michael with the van, is just amazing. The fact that you make these videos with the aim of cheering people up and helping people is one of the many things that makes your channel by far the best on RUclips. Thank you for all you do for the entire community. R.I.P Matt Pollard, you will be missed.
RIP Matt, boys do the Micra up for his sister, listening to your stories of him, sounds like what he would do.
I Second this idea! That way she has a part of him to move her around and explore the world in . I'm certain that would have made him happy to know that was the outcome for that car.
3rd. Great idea
A charity/foundation set up in Matt's honour is a great idea, and I would love to contribute. RIP Matt.
You gave him great memories of the last couple of years, RIP Matt
From the USA I send my deepest condolences to Matt's family and friends. I'm in tears writing this. His story and strength got to me watching the videos featuring him. I was so happy to see you guys rally together and kill it fixing up the MX 5 and amazingly putting Mattwood together. This was something I wished so badly I could have been part of. This is exactly what we need more of and Alex you are the man. You have a big heart and share your success with those who need it most. Thank you for being you and sharing it with the world. Love all you guys under the AutoAlex multiverse. And Rory's mom Jackie!
Thank you for the post , it’s shows that Alex has covered the world with Matts story ❤
😢 heartbreaking news. Condolences too Matt's whole family and friends 😢
I enjoyed his channel. Also, I have an Idea for the micra.
Fix it up, and raffle it off at Mattwood. Someone will win, use and enjoy it, and it can be used as the promotional car for Mattwood 2024 by making, t shirts, and stickers with it fixed up as well. Some of the money made will repay the family for the funeral expenses. And the rest can be set up as a fund in matts name for you to dip into when you have someone else in need.
Wonderful idea. Hope they see this
You could make his Micra into a chalk board type car and have people sign/draw/write messages for Matt on on it at Mattwood this year and have it clear coated to preserve everything drawn/written on it after the show. I'm not that knowledgeable about paintwork so not sure if this would be possible but I think worth looking into. I thought this would be a nice communal way to remember him and his passion for cars.
All the boys faces and voices just show pure raw emotion for the brother in the car world that they lost. Know Alex likes a joke around along with Taylor & Rory. That’s what we all love about all 3 of them. Never seen Taylor sit so quiet and be so respectful & Rorys face just looked gutted. Life is very cruel boys but well done to talking about an already difficult subject amongst us stubborn men. Your kindness and sadness give us all an experience and to show others it’s ok to be not ok. My sincerence’s condolences to Matts family. May he rest in peace. Well done boys for tackling a very personal and sensitive subject. I have struggled badly with illness from last year at 49 where my kids where being sent for by the senior doctors as they didn’t think I was going to make it. My kids were told if I didn’t pull through the next 12 hours I would have been dead. I was given the last rites from the hospital priest. The same thing killed my children’s mother at the young age of 47. I was on life support and and have very very slowly battled back to some sort of health. I smiled properly for the first time yesterday as I was able to drive my shitbox out on the road myself. Mines needs some love and attention which I hope to give her once I’m back working. Stay safe, be strong and most importantly BE THERE FOR ONE ANOTHER . Take care everyone. Love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A genuine hit amongst the Autoalex community. To Matt's family and friends, many condolences. RIP Matt
This is what the car community is about. Learning from each other to then building a friendship from a question, a beautiful thing has developed. I hope the things you guys did for matt's family will keep matt close and if the feel they need to be neat him they can go for a drive in the micra or mx5 and remember him in that moment. You guys are great and keep doing you on this channel, this is my favourite youtube channel as you are the guys next door who you wanna hang out with and spin spanners.
RIP Matt. This podcast not suitable for listening at work unless you don’t mind colleagues seeing you in tears 😢 So touching to hear this episode and cements how much you guys care and love and give back to the community ❤
My heart goes out to his friends and family.
I’m currently fighting liver cancer and this video has really hit home.
Just had my prostatectomy, keep fighting Ian, fuck cancer 👊✊❤
❤
Good luck with it. 🤜❤
Good luck let's hope you beat it
Keep fighting and live your dream . My thoughts and prayers are with you
Thankyou all for sharing this and keeping Matt truly alive for everyone and the future
Really sorry to hear this news guy. Loved Matt's story rest in peace.
One of the best things ive learned, is the most selfish thing you can do is give your time and effort to support someone else or a charity. Nothing on earth will make you feel as good, will lift your spirit and generally make you happier - been selfless is selfish and we should all do it more. Im gutted for all of you and Matts close ones obviously; although it is amazing to see someone so popular doing something so lovely for just another human, its great that you can talk about this, we should talk about bereavement and those we've lost, we should celebrate them and be open about feeling sad, depressed, lonely - all the normal emotions when we think about loved ones we no longer have.
Big hugs and cuddles - and thank you for letting us all be a small part of Matts amazing story, we're honoured that you took us along this journey with you.
Thank you for making his last few years special 🎉
He is a Legend. I've never been to Mattwood but I remember when this channel launched and watched that video. Touching stuff. RIP 🍻
Huge respect for what you have done and continue to do. R.I.P. Matt.
You’re owed nothing and You can’t feel sorry for Yourself, the wisest of words from such an extraordinary person.
Rest In Peace Matt
Extraordinary especially when it’s coming from someone so young and with so little time left to do the things he wanted to do.
Them last 2 years must have been hell for his family who had to put on a brave face everyday knowing he would be gone soon. I can’t imagine how he felt inside but from what I’ve heard of him, he seemed to really enjoy his last 2 years.
Thank you gentlemen, for heart and commitment! Been following you for a long time and will continue to do so, this is the advantage of RUclips and social media compared to TV. Real time without script. Just people being people.
Genuine feelings being shown, raw and not held back. So much respect to you guys, you did above and beyond for someone in genuine need.
Aww man. This was a hard and lovely watch. Cannot imagine how hard it was to film. If everyone lived one day like Matt lived his life the world will be amazing. Well done you guys and rip to Matt. Much love to his family.
Matt was a character that can't be put into words. What an adorable person. I hope he is now driving his favourite shit cars on heavens raceway...
A big thanks to everybody involved in this!
Rest in peace Matt, you did your family proud and left a tyre print on many hearts around the country x
I have stage 3 brain tumour cancer and love you guys and the videos, life can change very fast and makes us appreciate life, hardest thing is not driving anymore. Live life everyone. Stay positive !!!
RIP youngster. Take your final lap with pride and then rest....
Ultimate respect to you guys for this.
As someone living with this horrible illness it makes you respect the time you have remaining. 🙏❤️
I listened on Spotify at work driving my truck as I normally do, bad idea! My eyes filled up and I couldn’t see 😬
RIP Matt.. gone but never forgotten ❤
Condolences to Matt’s family and friends. R.I.P Buddy. From all of us Downunder! ❤
Never stop doing Mattwood, every year hold the event and each year donate the profits to a charity in his honour. Give him and his family a massive legacy that will live on and will always be supported by the car community.
So sad. What an absolutely amazing guy! He just had such an amazing outlook on life. Rest in peace fella 🙏🕊️
I met Matt and his dad at Shedfest, he seemed so full of life, it's such a shame. A true Legend.
Rest in peace Matt and condolences to all those close to him.
Sat here with tears in my eyes for the first half of the podcast.
You guys are amazing for what you did for him and his family.
Mattwood festival will live on in his memory and help many more people in the future.
Keep up the great work guys.
You guys are such an inspiration for all the things you did for Matt. I subscribed to his channel as he seemed like such a down-to-earth guy with a great spirit and was looking forward to his videos. I was gutted when I saw the news of Matt´s passing. Rest in peace Matt
I have such respect for you guys. You’ve made me laugh and cry more than any other RUclipsrs, simply brilliant work boys!
Much love from Canada!
I am gutted. Love you all, we really lost a great dude and I'm sorry for all of your pain. Tons of love from over here in Atlanta.
So very sad. You all spoke so well in very difficult circumstances. What a great guy he was and a legacy will go on. We've all lost loved ones to cancer and if you can help anyone going through it then only good will come of your time with Matt.
So sorry for you loss. The coverage of Mattwood was the first video I watched of yours and I was blown away by what you and the team did for him. That led to me getting hooked on your weekly adventures. Clearly you are a good group of guys and whilst it’s about the cars, it’s really about the people which you do so well. Keep up the good work and I’m sure you’ll do great things to keep Matt’s legacy going. ❤
So sad to hear the news of Matt’s passing, condolences to you all and the family at this difficult time 🙏🏽♥️ It is fantastic that you are raising the awareness and will continue to do so with Mattwood in his spirit. I will sure to be there in support. It’s at times like these you realise that life’s too short and to make the most of of it as you’ve only got one life, so live it to the max! (and buy those shitboxes that you love!)
In all seriousness, Matt’s legacy will continue through us all in the car community! Rest easy Matt ♥️
Respect to you guys. Supporting this young man, raising awareness and bringing joy to many. Watching you guys fixing up matts micra will be a beautiful tribute.
Safe travels Matt. Thank you
Very touching tribute, heartfelt and genuine. You boys should feel very proud of yourselves, all the memories and joy you brought Matt in the final years of his life, the fact that you were able to help him achieve a few dreams and buy him some precious moments with his dad, you can't put a price on that. Matt was inspirational in the way he wasn't going to let terminal illness stop him doing what he wanted. Rest in peace dude, hope there's some quality shit boxes at the car meet in the sky 🫡
You guys are class! The way you’ve all talked about your friend Matt has had this 54yo in tears and presented in a most respectful manor.
RIP Matt ❤️
Well done guys........a poignant podcast and some beautiful memories which, thanks to you and the community will continue Matt's vision and positive influence to benefit others with the outlook that he had handling the most difficult of times. You're owed nothing, and you can't feel sorry for yourself.
R.I.P Matt. Thoughts with family and friends. This was a wonderful tribute.
Mate u have done so much for people..I'm down my allotment trying to work with a saw in hand listening to you and all of a sudden I hear your voice started to break and that was it I broke 😢😢❤❤❤ RIP Matt
Hi all. I have a son who is 19 months old, and I lost my dad 5 days after he was born. I thought I was doing ok in life financially etc, but for the last 2 years almost there has been a separate issue which has seriously affected our living. My son is the most wonderful thing ever happened to me. And in this video, it reminded me that dads are the rock of the family and it’s something I felt I was forgetting. Thank you for reminding me and if The love of cars has made this incredible community then I’m Car Religious. Stay safe all and #NeverGiveUp.
Just wanted to tell the world this so I am leaving this here.
Thanks car community ✌🏼🏎️💨
Such sad news, when I saw your posts I couldn’t process what I was seeing, and was just thinking bout getting through a busy week. But it’s 07:23am on the following Saturday morning, and I want to say thank you for sharing and talking about Matt and got to say I have cried for the full 30 so minutes. Matt was such an awesome fella, and was so honoured to have been able to support at Mattwood 2.0 and did manage to say hello to Matt briefly. Thank you for helping process the grief, I know that might seem odd but as someone who doesn’t deal very well grieving I listen to the stories and memories you’ve shared helps so much.
In the stories of what you all did on the Saturday evening and the Sunday after, I could feel Matt’s spirit with you all.
Rest Peacefully Matt Pollard, You Done Good Lad 🖤
So sad. Thank you guys for making such a difference. The kindness is real.
Sending love and condolences to the team and Matt’s family. So sad, you can tell how much he meant to you all. Much love.
Bloody hell lads! Had me tearing up listening to this, not a usual podcast listener, more of a visual viewer! but followed for a while.
this really hits home with me i was diagnosed with grade 3 brain C last year and stories like this really make me appreciate that there is always someone in a worse postion!
That is the best motto to live by i have heard so far! And very true!
Don't wait for that rainy day!.... Look outside its probably raining now! Enjoy what you can when you can! Before you know it, it's too late!
Much love to Matts family in this very difficult time X
Wowzers, sat here balling my eyes out, what a positive outlook Matt had and an amazing quote ❤
Lost a friend to brain cancer a couple of years ago. He left two young lads. It’s a shitty way to go. Well done lads.
So sorry to hear your sad news, was in tears watching you. Thinking of you all especially Matt's family. What a true inspiration he was and his legacy will live on. R.I.P Matt❤
Sending love from my family from my neck of the woods! Too Matt's family and friends in their neck of the woods!
You guys honestly are a massive help to guys like us who deal with family problems day to day .i can't say this enough to anyone it's always the best ones who get dealt the worst hands, fortunately I still have my dad after 3 brain tumours but god bless to matt my heart goes out to his family ❤
So sad to hear what happened, but you lads should definitely set up a great foundation to help others in the same situation and keep up with the mattwood festival. Love your work you guys do, keep up the great work you do. Love from Albany Creek Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
I would happily contribute to a foundation as such. Big respect to you all for what you've done for Matt. Mattwood must continue, I'd love to attend the next one. My sincere condolences to Matt's family.
Thank you for sharing Matt’s sorry with us viewers. He was a cool dude from his channel and what we’ve seen here. The world and car community have lost a good one. Rest in peace, Matt. Condolences to the Pollard family
Thank you guys. I started following Matt because of you guys. You guys are decent guys! I am sure Matt is watching you guys and continuing to enjoy cars and the videos you make.
Terribly sad, but what an amazing set of memories for him and his amazing family. Well done guys, condolences to Matt’s family

So sorry for your loss and the family's lost....would take time I would love to see a full restoration on the micro and then put Matt's touch on it...make it showroom worthy

My condolences to Matt and his family. Thanks lads for the memorial post
Condolences to Matts family. Much love to all in these hard times. Great job boys being such legends!
That was an emotional podcast. But definitely a really nice tribute to Matt.
Rest in Peace.
Matt seemed so great in the videos and is a huge inspiration, really tragic news, wishing his family the best
Well done lads , a very sad time but what great memories you have given his family and friends to go forward with to keep his memory alive .
Well done on keeping it together, and a fitting tribute to Matt. What was nice is you kept it funny at the right times, and Matt would be proud of you. As well as laughing at you. Big hug and love to you all. Well done.
He is such an amazing guy so sad to hear he's passed R.I.P Matt you will be missed bro! Thoughts are with his family ❤
What a wonderful tribute to Matt and continue on in his memory.
I do think, whether Matt’s family would give their blessing but to auction off the micra with proceeds going to the family or help start the foundation you guys mentioned.
You guys do fantastic work and certainly done right by him and the car community
You’ve had me sitting here in tears for him, I’ve got 4 kids (now adult) and couldn’t imagine losing one of them. I had a 20 year old micra with 130k on the clock and I loved it, how about a nice set of recaro burgundy seats
Man that's sad. Was inspirational to see him start his channel and having a blast.
Thank you for everything that you did for this fine young man. Having lost a brother to this same diagnosis, l knew this video would be coming. Absolutely heartbreaking but I can't help but to feel like you've made such an impact for him. Thank you for bringing some light to all of those dark times with that family. 💙
Sorry for your loss ❤
What a legend of a man I kept planning to meet up (as we lived near each other) but never got a chance I'll be rasing s glass to you!! Top man!!
Fucking hell, I'm so sorry but this has to be one of my favorite podcasts, it was FANTASTIC to remember how you meet Matt. That was a great way to honor Matt and his family.
Same here dude. Something incredibly special has occurred, and is still occurring. It feels to me like the love and wisdom of this young man is actually contagious and for once it really is something you want to be catching. ❤
Tears in my eyes watching this pod, what you guys did for matt was just absolutely incredible.
Recently lost a close friend to suicide couple weeks ago so really feel your guys pain.
This is one of the best bits of autoalex content - no fills, just raw and pure emotion. Gents, hats off for even making it through this video, this is the hardest thing you can probably do as a content creator. A memoriam Matt deserved, a truly lovely guy. Tell your friends and family you love them, because you never know when the last time will be ❤
Such sad news. You guys did a great job and he would have really appreciated it and enjoyed it. rip matt
Such sad news! Absolutely lovely tribute!
Struggling to hold it together listening to the emotion in your voices guys. So sorry for your loss.
Wonderful Video ❤️❤️We are remembering a great Friend we lost 10 years ago ❤️❤️Lovely talking about People we have lost ❤️❤️
Sad to hear of Mats passing, he sounds like a top lad, as someone who lost close family to cancer at a young age it really hit close to home hearing all this, I will say that every one of those days he carried on fighting meant to absolute world to his family and lived it first hand its impossible to state how brave and what a fighter Matt must have been.
It's really refreshing to see 3 blokes, be completely open in sharing emotion and grief. We need more of this out there on the internet to show young men what it actually means to be a man, not the toxic cult of masculinity. Good people doing what they can to help and support others and sharing their experiences, their love and kindness and grief.
RIP Matt. Thoughts are with your family and friends.
Thanks for doing this lads. Extremely hard thing to do, but you did it for Matt. Hats off to you all.
Mattwood must live on, never thought someone I've only seen in a video passing would effect me this much, we were the same age which hurts more. To the family if you see this there are hundreds of thousands of us that all love and want to support you and future research.
LONG LIVE MATTWOOD LONG LIVE MATT
Condolences to Matts family and all his friends. Sounds like a truly selfless and lovely guy, so sad ❤
Thanks for making me cry and I did not even know the lad. You guys are legends.
What a great episode, you guys can be very proud of what you did! I imagine your work made the last months of his life a lot better and well done for wanting to continue his legacy and in his honour.
And what a story about the auction house, i wouldnt mess with Alex!
Such sad news I’ve literally sobbed none stop watching this video. You guys are human and it’s no shame to show the sadness you feel, it also shows how much he meant to you all. You guys did him proud and made what time he had left special. He may no longer be here but you’ll have such wonderful memories to cherish which will always stay with you. Myself and I’m sure every other fan you have will all be so very proud of what you did for him and his family. God bless you all ❤
So sorry to hear, amazing stuff guys
May Matts legacy forever live on with the mattwood festival 😢
Incredible what you put into Mattwood and I don't think he or his family will ever forget that. You provided special memories that his whole family will cherish forever. Thoughts are with your family and friends RIP Matt
Thank you all for the memories, RIP Matt ❤️
Immense sadness. After seeing the whole journey, following him up on his channel and even being invested in the latest Micra content, I was kinda forgetting that he had such a horrible card dealt.
The planet is certainly a less happy place with this loss. RIP Matt.
