Piped on icing techniques. 25 year Commercial Cake Decorator and instructor provides step by step visual of cake decorating processes, tips , and tools as well as products. Liz teaches how to properly construct the cake for stability and delivery, sharing tried and true methods. These videos are a fun mix of Food, Technique and Artist Flare.
Royal Icing
3 eggs whites room temperature
1 pound powdered sugar (confectioners)
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Combine ingredients, beat at high speed 7-10 minutes.
Dries quickly-keep covered.
DECORATING BUTTERCREAM
2 CUP SHORTENING (SWEETEX)
1 CUP MILK (CANNED MILK IS GOOD)
2 TSP VANILLA
1 TSP. ALMOND EXTRACT
½ TSP.BUTTER FLAVORING
3 LB. POWDERED SUGAR
2 tsp. salt
Mix together and beat 10 minutes until light and fluffy it
will keep in refrigerator for about 2 wks. Is enough
to ice and decorate an 8 or 9 inch double layer cake.
You can cut the recipe in half if you don't need that much. In this video I am using Pastry Pride Whip Topping. It can be found at
most restaurant supply stores and Cake decorating supply stores. Riches Buttercream is also a good option.

cute
+samrin sarang THanks Samrin!
what type of buttercream should I use for this... I usually use swiss meringue,, but I'm wondering if I should use american, because it crusts...
+Cupcake Glacage HI , you can use any buttercream that will hold the shape of the Meringue. We have used Royal Icing, Buttercream and even whip topping. Try it with your favorite icing and see if it will hold the shape you need.
thanks, :) I think I'll try that, The last time I attempted droplines they kept on falling 2 minutes after I had piped them...
could i use a 1M tip for the large shells?
+Aubrey Cooper Hi Aubrey, yes you could. You would need to use a very light pressure control if you do.in fact any star tip would work with the right pressure control cakedecoratinginstructor.com
super
+Dawqin Qasimov THanks so much Dawquin!

+ayar kmh Thanks!
como todos tus disenos hermoso
+mimi de arevalo Muchas Gracias!
Торт супер ,класс,все здорово!!!!!!,но волосы у девочки убрать бы,подметать ими торт не очень приятно!
I enjoyed your detailed instructions and the cake is beautiful, but I was taken aback when you put ornaments on the cake that cannot be eaten. Nothing but food safe items should be used.
+MidwestSoaper Many non food items are used in Cake Decorating, plastic dolls and toys for kids, ribbon and such. As long as they are clean and people know not to eat them they are perfectly safe. Thanks so much :)
