- On Monday 3rd April, BBC News had a big vidual refresh with the countdowns. New Footage, old footage, all mixed up together. BBC News only now has 3 Countdowns (Inc Filler).

The 2013 countdown music is immortal!
Four BBC News Channel rebrands and the same epic music they began using in March 2013 remains! Wonderful!
The music of which is actually taken from the 1999 version, revised many times in various eras.

Honestly speaking, BBC's change of graphics in countdown was like a test screen that commonly seen inside broadcast studios.
Interesting how the seconds are now divided into centiseconds rather than frames.
Yes, sorry to see the 1/24ths go but as it’s not BBC News 24 it’s not so apt now.

It was 25ths, matching the frame rate.
@@cat1554 ~ Definitely 24ths before. Pause on the old countdowns and the fractions are between zero and 23.

i just noticed how the new countdowns include all 1/100ths seconds and not just the 24 or 30 frames per second
Actually, it's a 30th of a second.
It displays two digits after the decimal point. Therefore they are hundredths of a second. If you think otherwise state the reason.
@@goranandrijasevic2534 Counters from earlier decades counted frames per second, so they were still in double digits after the second but they only went to 24 or 30

wow, I didn't know that people in Japan watched our news channels! how is it like over there, are there Japanese language channels or do you watch the normal English language channels? I sometimes watch Japanese news (I think it's NHK but in English or something, it's pretty cool.) over here in the UK because I wonder what happens there!

Heard/saw a different countdown 05:00 13th April with no whooshes and coloured lined - BBC World feed with Sally Bundock.

Totally agree the countdown is in the wrong position- bottom thirds would be better
Worst version of the countdown they've done. The music's unchanged so that's disappointing, logo is the blandest yet and the countdown itself is hard to see but is somehow visible enough to distract from what's going on in the background. It doesn't feel professional at all. It's like a mock up someone's done in their bedroom.
the 2013 version is just timeless, it honestly doesn't need changing and is perfect the way it sounds. Although some subtle changes have been made to the music since 2013.
