    This has been the best year since MEGO'S return in 2018. And this channel has made it even better for us(THE FANS).

    I ordered a lot of figures from this past wave and I really did not expect to love this one as much as I do. I agree the head sculpt is amazing there is no mistaking that this is Kang, and the outfit is very close to screen accurate. I absolutely love this figure!

    What I appreciate about you is that, you seem to have a light touch to collecting. I’ve seen collectors develop an almost obsessive mania about the hobby-where it becomes an almost ocd obsession to collect everything and anything. Collecting should be fun. It should also be a nostalgic doorway to our childhoods, while giving us some fun here in the present. I agree with you. Buy what you like folks, it’s meant to be fun.

    This is a brilliant likeness of the late, great Michael Ansara.

    Another great review. It showed me too, seeing the 2 Kang's, how memory "adjusts" over time; I'd completely forgotten how different the original Klingon Mego uniform was from the authentic TV show's.

      I actually think the classic Mego is based on Koloth from "Trouble with Tribbles" but you can see how Mego was reusing some fabric from the Planet of the Apes line on that one.

    Ansara was also on an episode of Lost in Space playing the Ruler who challenged Professor John Robinson to a voltablade sword fight in the first black and white season.

    Michael Ansara also played the Blue Djin in I Dream of Jeanie, which would make a great figure by the way (but with hopefully a less severe face).

    Funny as a kid in the 70's. I got the Mego Klingon. He was Kang to me. Not Kor, Koloth, Kahless or Kras the forgotten Klingon from Friday's Child. Hve they made Kor or Koloth. With Koloth you get a two for one sculpt... Koloth and Trelane.

    • @BrickMantooth
      @BrickMantooth  3 года назад +2

      I always got a Koloth vibe from the Mego Klingon.

    I think Mego made the right choice by going with the more, rubbery boots. I remember my old Klingon's plastic boots splitting.

    Brian, if this has been answered elsewhere, my apologies, but was the original MEGO Klingon made to reflect the Filmation Klingon? It makes sense, but not sure if my chronology is off.

    • @BrickMantooth
      @BrickMantooth  3 года назад +2

      It's hard to say, I pressed some former Mego people on the source material and they told me it was a big mess of stills, film reels etc. Nobody remembers the cartoon but it's not impossible some promotional material from it wasn't included. He is the one figure who looks like he lept out of the cartoon.

  • @RogueTwo
    @RogueTwo 3 года назад +1

    There's not much more to add that you didn't say. It's a great figure that's incredibly well done. I do wish that Kang had an actual holster for his disruptor, but that's hardly a deal-breaker. Day of the Dove is one of my favorites as well, in no small part because it's the closest we had in TOS to a TNG-style Klingon episode that explored them a bit as more than just generic bad guys. Also, John Colicos, William Campbell, and Michael Ansara all reprised their roles of Kor, Koloth, and Kang in an episode of Deep Space Nine. Blood Oath. Where they all appear in TNG-era Klingon makeup and costumes, which would also make nice action figures.

    • @BrickMantooth
      @BrickMantooth  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I'm personally hoping for a movie-style Klingon as well, always liked those.

    The original Mego Klingon was based on the cartoon as were the rest of the figures.

    • @BrickMantooth
      @BrickMantooth  3 года назад

      That is a misconception. I've spoken to members of the original Mego R&D team at length about it and they were given a variety of stills, film reels and other promotional materials mainly from the original series. In fact, the head of the team said to me that he didn't even know about the cartoon.
