Yeah it was a update to the steam version which was quickly reverted. It was just them testing this engine for the new game.

I think that could work, the concept isn't necessarily a strictly cowboy one, it's a man who does bad deeds finding redemption in the good deeds he can do. So maybe it could work, though the outrage of stepping away from the cowboy style would be great

When you stop and think about it. Just about every member of the gang could have been alive long enough to actually see this gun used in new reels during WWII. They could have possibly held one too after that, but they would have been in their 60 or 70s by then.

The reload animation being unchanged makes this even funnier. Just the idea of the STG being loaded with a tiny stick through the stock is gold to me.

It is more likely to be suitable for RDR 1, because the development of Fedorov Avtomat began in 1913.
Many WWII rifles such as the Springfield 1903, Lee Enfield, Kar98k and Mosin Nagant had origins dating back to RDR's time, The Arisaka and Carcano also came out in the 1890s going into the turn of the century seeing use in WW1 just a short time later

Interestingly, John Marston was closer to the creation of the STG44 than he was to the creation of the Winchester rifle.
Because he was alive in 1914 which was the year WW1 started and that in turn led to WW2 just 20 years later

Yeah, RDR1 takes place in 1911, which is 45 years from 1866, the first year the Winchester rifle went into production (and an even further 51 if we include the Henry rifle in 1860) and only 33 years from 1944, the year the Stg-44 was put into production (and again, an even closer 31 years if we include the Mkb42 in 1942).

Imagine being one of those outlaws. Probably the fastest shooting thing you've seen is maybe a Maxim gun, probably just your buddy Jimmy "Six-Shot" fanning his revolver, and all of the sudden you round a corner and watch Jimmy get mowed down before he can even lift his gun by a disheveled farmer with some weird rifle that fires a dozen shots without a bolt needing to be worked, a hammer needing to be pulled, or a lever to be cranked.
It's my favorite weapon of all time

I hope there's a mission or event in GTA6 where you encounter Francis Sinclair or atleast some reference to it. Or some event where you can time travel back 1899 with Sinclair but there is 99% chance of this not happening.

Using something automatic just feels so uncanny in RDR2 for some reason
Maybe it's because there were no automatic rifles or machine guns at the time (Apart from the Gatling gun and other experimental weapons.)

The Maxim was in use since 1884, the M1895 Colt-Browning machine gun (the Potato Digger as it was nicknamed) was a thing four years before the start of the game, there's the Agar _from 1861_ which was a hand-cranked single barrel machine gun predating the Gatling gun by a year, there's the Ripley Machine Gun which was patented in 1861, there's also the Gardner gun was made in 1874, crank operated yes but still a machine gun, then there's the Bira gun which was fed from a PAN MAGAZINE like a Lewis Gun and was manufactured from 1896 to 1897, and last but not least there's the Salvator-Dormus M1893 which is an HMG from Austria-Hungary. Sure there was no automatic rifles but there were plenty of machine guns around the time and before Red Dead Redemption 2 is set that were either adopted and in service around that time or were prototyped.
Also there's the Roper repeating shotgun (also known as the Roper revolver shotgun) was made in 1861 (not really relevant but just wanted to mention it, there was also a rifle variant of it. Also it's an _open-bolt firearm_ from 1861 using black powder cartridges.), the same year as the Ripley Machine Gun.
Oh and the Confederates had a revolver CANNON (which I guess means the Confederates technically had a proto-autocannon in the Year of Our Lord 1861 to the Year of Our Lord 1865 but only the one) so I guess that's a thing too, also not really that relevant but man is it strange to learn about.

How do you install the mod? The mod page has no instructions.
You have to install Lenny Mod Loader (put the lml & its files in the game folder). Then download STG-44 mod, put the files from the zip into the lml folder. Run the game in 'Vulkan' Settings and you need to use the Carbine Repeater to have the STG-44.
Why does it have 60 rounds?
To bad you cant realist it realistically and use the iron sight
