I was a ICU nurse and I cared for one of the the first AIDS patient when I was a young nurse right out of college. This is a great, and heartfelt story. I totally relate to the experience and how working the 3 12 hr shifts in a row created a bonds with the people cared for so intimately and so intensely. Job well done!!

This doctor is such a sweetheart. It is obvious she cares and gives it her all every 12 hour shift she works during this desperate time. May God be with her and keep her and all of these doctors, nurses, hospital staffs and first responders safe as they risks their own lives for all of us.

This is much needed. Real stories showing what's really going on. I had to say goodbye to my grandmother over the phone last weeek(not covid related) but if it weren't for this virus we could have all been there for her in her final moments. Truly a heartbreaking time thinking of everyone in the world.

12 house shift and they say :this is healthy and safe. C'mon. A nurse should work at least 6 hours and rest or they immune system will decrease.
U seem like a very compassionate doctor and that is all anyone can ask for at this time......FYI if U want to make your outfit not look so sterile many country R grabbing a marker and writing their names on their viser or putting a smiley face on their disposable surgical gown......Don't be disheartened and know many people R also surviving from this virus due to the hard work all medics do.
The only ppl who are tired overwhelmed an overworked is the unemployment offices 😂😂😂

Must be tough making $30,000 a week.
No ! But it was tough during 4 years of undergraduate, preparing for the MCAT, AMCAS application, 4 years of medical school, USMLE Steps 1, 2 & 3, numerous shelf exams after each 3rd year rotation, umpteen exams during basic sciences of medical school, OSCE exams, ERAS applications, 3 years of IM Residency and a 3 year Fellowship in Pulm/Critical Care, finally Board exams and of course, studying to keep current and maintain the licences she already earned. By the way this is the abridged version of the toil. Now she's earning the cost of her time and effort with no apologies. Especially if she didn't have Mom or Dad to help her, those loans of > $200, 000+++ don't magically disappear. She worked very hard and made many sacrifices, most couldn't dare to imagine !
