This video is for a Growatt battery and Growatt inverter. The Growatt inverter communicates with the BMS in the Growatt battery. Some other lithium battery brands are known to communicate to the inverter but they are not officially supported by Growatt. If your BMS is incompatible to the communication scheme or you do not have a BMS you could not use the Lithium profile in the inverter but instead one of the user specified ones.
These batteries are made only to stack on top of each other (up to 10). However, if this is restrictive you can use a Growatt battery hub to join multiple stacks. We often do this for larger systems as 10 batteries per stack can be quite tall. Battery hubs also increase your maximum current rates if you have reached the limit for a single stack.
For two parallel connected spf 3500 es, the battery stack has to be connected to both invertors right? Thinking of connecting the invertors via a 250 amps junction connector. Is that correct?
Both inverters must be connected to the battery stack through MCCBs. You can also use a battery hub if you are looking to run multiple stacks ( a video coming soon).
The battery breakers need to be on for the inverter to work in this case. This is an off-grid inverter, but it can take an AC input for charging batteries (referred to the utility in Growatt manuals). We commonly see back-up generators used with these units.
The charge and discharge figures vary depending on the amount of batteries in the stack. A single battery has 25A charge/discharge, 2 batteries increase this to 50A, 3 to 75A, upto a max of 125A per stack.

Yes there are specific settings you have to change on the inverter, they're all in the manuals.

Yes they're designed to stack vertically
Can I lay them horizontally? It's a shame that there is no option to stack them one beside another (cable tabs are only for vertical pairing).
