- I bought this game in 2008, and traded it in about a week later. I was expecting to still hate it, but it was actually pretty good!

I remember when you went afk for a very long time, the cameraman would start having these really funny conversations with you, talking about how great pizza is and how its raining at the moment or something. As a kid, this was the best game ever to me. Idk how I could just look over all these flaws you've mentioned haha
I played the fuck out of this game when I got it ages ago. At the time I didn't have a PS3 or Xbox, so the Wii was all I had, and Skate it was my only option. I previously played the first skate at a friends house, and loved it, but yeah. It was solid at the time
I randomly stumped into this video and... damn, the polish throughout the entire video was top notch. I didn't even think about it, just subscribed and will be watching a few more videos. Fantastic.

It's funny, I never had the powerslide issue. Guess it was because I turned more diagonally, i.e. up-right, up-left. Need to play this game again though. Never got too far.
Aside from that, this game had some really nice physics. It handled the same ragdolling as Skate 1 and 2.
I wish we got a skate it map pack with the countries and megapark for skate 3 because they were all awesome

Black Box has long defunct, so Skate 4 is out of the realm of possibility. But hey! At least we got Sessions & Skater XL via PS4 / XBOX One.

I got so good at this game 🤣 I missed out on Skate 1,2. I like the not open world aspect of it. All the fun spots in one Area. Don't have to skate forever to get to the good area. Hall of meat was hilarious

One thing that always annoyed me about skate it as a kid was the fact that all the jeans/trousers look like bootcuts. They are just annoying looking
this game actually does motion controls well. If you slow down and relax, you can easily maneuver around and do the trick you want to do in a line. It does help to have a decent amount of space between the remote and sensor bar. Yes playing with just the remote is possible and not that hard at all. It's a very mellow game. I haven't seen any glitches yet.
Skate It was the only console skating game I ever played so the motion control aspect was always natural. I also used the nunchuck but never had any problem with random power slides, so I find that aspect of your experience strange.
Game was fun given it was all I knew as a Wii owner. I remember skidding to a stop to try and do tricks from different angles before the camera switched back, to see it in replay because you couldn’t move the camera around lol. Like wanting to see a hardflip from the front, then the back where all you see is griptape.
This is game is more nostalgic than anything for me.
They need to polish this game and connect the cities so you can skate to your destination and then release it for modern consoles if skate 4 won't come

This game upset me so bad when I finally tried it out. I actually really enjoy the graphics and the level designs, but the motion controls just ruined it. If only it supported the Wii Classic Controller Pro or a Gamecube controller this could have been something pretty great.

Same here. I absolutely hated it. But now that it's only a couple of bucks, and there's no anticipation and hype anymore, it really isn't so bad.
Trust me, emulate the DS Skate It and use the PS4 Controller and toggle the option to use the right analog stick as the touchpad. It’s a more crappy, unresponsive version of Skate controls but it feels better.

I was the ONLY PERSON to pre-order this game at my GameStop. I really loved the idea of the story but it just wasn't like playing skate because it was much harder to control for me

Great stuff yet again man. What other skateboarding games were there on the Wii? This was all I had, and all I've ever played of the Skate games haha! Seen the other ones, get tempted at times to save up for an Xbox/PS3 just for Skate 1/2/3. Anyway this was great, really nostalgic for me since I picked it up day 1 too.

I can say this game got me into skating but not directly this game got me into the skate series which got me into skating on RUclips which got me into skating over a span of 2 or 3 years

Looks great, has fun-looking levels I really want to play, but controls made it impenetrable. No way am I going to put down the other Skate titles long enough to learn them. EA, give us these levels as S3 DLC!
I really enjoyed this game idk if it was just because my family was too broke to get me a Xbox and because it was the best I had for a long time but mani truely enjoyed it I won’t lie. Those late nights on my sisters wii at 3am with nothing but This game I’ll never forget ❤

Honestly, it never really held my attention that much. I watched it a few times, but I don't have cable, and I'm not interested enough to stream it all the time. I'm glad it exists, and the judging SYSTEM seems good... I don't know much about how it's being run though.
+Rad Rat Video the judging seems kinda suspect to me. It's good there is a contest series like this but since there is no law being broken if they did rig the judging you wouldn't put it past fox sports and Rob Drydek to do something like this
You didn't even try the Wii Balance Board, or even mentioned it for that matter.
It's wierd because I never had a problem with powerslides and I for sometime didnt even know how to powerslides. I had a fun time with skate it on the wii

Pretty late comment but if you didn't know there was a mobile port of skate it for the old iPhone and iPad gens if you would like to test it i do have a mint iPod with the since removed game.
I had this one, I regret trading it in for one tiny reason. On the later skate games they made it so you would spin slower horizontally if you did a body flip but in this one you can rotate just as quick as you normally would. This led to many 720 front flips at danny's mega park and the last '180' tended to be more vertical which had a cool snowboard-like feel to it.
I tried this thing 3 times and the controller latency due to low fps was so bad I dropped it. I came from all the THPS games, used to make 9 million points in the airport. This game was very tempting but extremely frustrating.
SKATE isn't about racking up huge points through insanely humongous combos like Tony Hawk is.

Have you tried this with the Wii Fit board ? The controls are a LOT more fun, but steering is a bit tricky. Also, since you only have ~12 tricks (iirc) or so with the board and button combinations, you have to cycle through a list of 'active' tricks. The cycle uses the 1 or 2 buttons and they're nearly impossible to hit on the fly.
I received it as a gift and felt bad I didn't play it much. It was really fun, but inconvenient. Haha, it also got really hard when I got into it, because I'd actually start popping the wii fit board and jumping in the air. Then it'd pause the game and yell at me for it :)
I did, but only when I originally bought it back in the day. I don't have a balance board anymore, so I wasn't able to record any footage. It works, but it's too hard to be precise enough to actually finish the career mode. It's worth messing around with in free skate, but I don't think it's a serious way to play the game.

Sooo, I got the game used for 6$, let me say a few things:
If you move the analog stick "left and right" like 90 degrees, yes you powerslide. But if you move it "diagonally up + left or right" so let's say 45 degrees, you turn normally!
In terms of the wii's accuracy when it comes to tricks: It's not perfect, but I like it! usually 1/3 times I do the trick I want. 1/2 times if I'm on a roll. 1/5 if I'm unlucky. Which is "realistic".
I wouldn't like to be able to Tre 30 times in a row - that's too fake. too good. The only difference between Skate it and "skater XL" or "real life" is that when you fail to do the correct motion for a kickflip for example, instead of failing you end up doing something else - usually a hardflip. dunno why. haha. Which I personally count as a "failed attempt", but since the character doesn't fall down, it doesn't stop the flow of the game. Which is nice.
when I do a random nollie 360 hardflip by accident the camera man says: You have no idea what you did but it looked nice. HAHAHAAHA
Image an incorrect kickflip motion having you fall down, getting up, running again. It would be really annoying.
Personally, I used to love the way you do tricks in Skate 1,2,3 over THPS, but then I played "Skater XL" and I was like: "Oh... you knew nothing John Snow. This is it!"
the graphics are... ok. They are better than THUG ok, and THUG is one of the best skateboarding games ever. Sure... a PS3/PS4 is 390423904823 times more sharp, but I really don't care.
Mario 64 looks like crap but it's amazing. haha
All in all for 5-15$ Skate it is a great game in my opinion. Worth a shot.

Was first ever skate game skate 1 jave becouse it was released 1 day before first skate 1 version on x360.
This game is awful on the original hardware, but emulated with an xbox controller, it actually becomes a great game!
To get rid of the powerslide thing, dont bother using the nunchuck and you dont get it

I played the entire game with it and had fun, mostly since I only had a wii and was still captivated by the motion control gimmick stuff. That was almost 10 years ago! I think I remember it being a little janky, though, so I bet it'll be super terrible if I try that again.

I really laughed hard at 5:05. It kind of just looks like your skater guy is sort of intoxicated and can't skate in a straight line.

Maybe. I don't have a PS4 or XB1, so I'm not sure if I should bother reviewing the last gen version, or just wait until I have a newer console.
I just played Skate It on the Wii and it was bad. I had to turn the brightness all the way to see what I was looking at then after an hour I had a head ache from the brightness . And the controls were difficult to control. The Wii is a good console with mostly great games like Mario Galaxy. And most of the ports to the Wii are good to like Force Unleashed on the Wii. But Skate It sucks on the Wii
They also released the DS version on Ios
I had the same problem with the controls doing everything except what I wanted in Skate 3.
Skate 3 has the best controls, though. What problems were you having?
FraKctured There were certain missions where it specified a certain trick, sometimes it would get it but when it came to missions like Own The Lot New Foundry; it started to show some faults. It tasked you with doing a 360 flip onto a ledge the problem came when I would input the exact motion and a different trick occurred. Just to prove to myself that it was the game, I held the control up my face as I was trying to do the trick, it was the game. As long as you're going for a non-specific trick then you'll be able to do it but if you try anything more complicated than a kickflip, it'll do some other trick.
Strange. Could it have been the controller? I have ruined a lot of control sticks over the years with every new Skate game. A worn-out controller might have home-point or "resting point" issues. Where the game thinks the sticks are properly centered, but they naturally rest in some non-zero direction. If it still happens to you with a fresh controller, and it's not from your own flicking motion, then I'm not sure what it could be.
FraKctured At the time, the controller was fine (now the right trigger gets stuck) and I had played and given up on the game (specifically on that mission) enough times that I tried it with two different consoles and three different controllers; along with four copies of Skate 3. I played my friends copy, a physical copy and two different downloaded copies.
Best game. Maybe it's nostalgia but best game. Same for ds.

You mean with Dolphin? I almost set that up, but for review purposes, playing the original is really the only way to go. I bet it looks a lot better in HD too.

a good friend just told me that he got it . im not even sure if he played it by now because his conntroler is broken .. by the way i really enjoy´d the video you go really in detail and i highly respect that i also have a really high standard to my videos but my focus is more on the realistic tricks done in the hardest possible way ;-)
Can you also play with the game cube controller?
+SK8BANDANA maybe on Dolphin if you have an adapter, but the original version uses either the wiimote with tilt steering, wiimote with nunchuck, or the balance board.

@@ChaseMC215 Never thought of Emulators such as dolphin for the wii. Skate 1,2 and 3 run with pcsx3 the problem is that you need a quantum pc.
i got skate 2 running but with 20fps but no sound, if i tick this box, the game runs perfectly but you fal through the floor.
