Ah, Russian Constructivism art. That should give people a more profound of an idea as to what the "spirit of the age" of this era of Russia would be. The rejection of decorative stylization in favour of the industrial assemblage of materials, a socialist propaganda in the form of art prevailing in this time. The contrast between pure traditional art as an expression of one's soul against one might call a "machine art" as a political "means" will definitely be something for me to look forward to regarding Vila's character as an art teacher. Even if not directly obvious in the story itself (as usual with Reverse story and its contemplative nature and the demand of critical reading to get more out of it), simply the awareness of the writer not just of historical phenomenon but also of the artistic expressions, literature, philosophy, and the political state at that specific spirit of the era should not be underestimated. (And this awareness of the writer and its great respect, to directly say, of the "truth" of our history and society could pretty much be seen also the prior events and of course also in the main story.) Edit: To clarify, I'm well aware that this event will take place in the 90's and it doesn't even take place in mainland Russia but presumably Rayashki is inspired from a Soviet coal mining settlement on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard named 'Pyramiden' (now more or less a ghost town) that was sold to the Soviet Union in 1927. But the point still stand regarding the influence of the revolution of modern industrial culture prevailing in Russia at its height in 1910's-1920's which was a huge turning point in their cultural epoch. And the structures and mining project left in Pyramiden (or Rayashki) with its decent history (1927-1998) was a continuation and a part of that revolutionary social industrial project. (It might be unrelated with the event and just me overthinking but looking up 'Vnukovo Airlines Flight 2801' might be a potential spoiler.) Propaganda or not, credit where credit's due, even in the aftermath of the first world war, movement such as Futurism and Constructivism (probably largely obscure in the general public today) expressed a limitless unified freedom in its abstract artworks and machine aesthetic together with their avant-garde architecture design, perhaps evocative in its message of a new age during that sensitive time in Russia, could in a way be regarded as a symbol of the seemingly optimistic boundless growth of both technology and culture, therefore hopes for the future at that time. (That is until Joseph Stalin's Socialist realism is instituted in its place in 1934. Exclusively proletarian, it attempts to establish a more limited and idealized Soviet society so their "art" as a result are devoid of complex artistic meaning or interpretation, but simply for propaganda's sake.)
Hm, say, I have been wondering, while these are probably just Skins, are these Garment Characters supposed to be their own separate Characters entirely or are they really just the Characters playing Dress-up or something like that?
"Children yearn for the mines" ahh outfit
NOOO CAUSE THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT I THOUGHT
