As a Russian, i can definitely say that Reverse 1999 is one of the few games that definitely does atleast some justice in portraying soviet russia and russia in general. Even though there are some mistakes and it also leans more towards the *aesthetic*of soviet time's culture and a bit of popular stereotypes, i still really like how they reference some actual details of our culture (like Vila standing in the pose of the main figure of famous old soviet posters, specifically "Rodina Mat' is calling! ")
It seems that the scenarists watched some good soviet films about the life of distant northern towns in USSR which inspired them in depicting Rayashki the way they are.
Anyways, i'm just happy that we're getting such an interesting representation!
(And most of the characters actually speak good Russian! Not Zima though...)
I watched the entire story of 1.8 on Bilibili. I dare say that the dev team have done a careful study and reflection on the history of the Soviet Union and its collapse. They present a hopeful utopia, and then **** (no spoilers), making the whole story heavy, profound and meaningful. There are many places in 1.8 paying tribute to the movie "Goodbye Lenin". Although their attitudes towards the red regime and ideology are completely opposite, their conclusions are the same: after waking up from the dream, people must go forward.
For me, it reminds me of those long-forgotten ideals and beliefs that our grandparents insisted on: the value of human, the value of labor, the caring for the community, the belief in the future... When Vila spoke of them with unquestionable firmness, it stroke my heart and conscience so hard.
When it comes to portraying different cultures throughout history, reverse devs truly are doing their homework, and with a great attention to details. That's something that makes them significantly different from any other gacha.

Rayashki is a communism utopia, but not for USSR. If you read carefully in the story. Villa and Windsong were not treated well when they were Moscow and St. Petersburg. Russians really need to learn the spirit of Rayashki, unafraid of power and to sacrifice.
As a Russian, it’s very unusual for me to see Russian characters and hear them speak Russian in a game without Russian localization. And I can’t read this mixture of Latin and Russian letters, my brain is breaking!
Same, sort of. But it feels good to be represented in a good way) It was a bliss to my ears when I heard Yenisei's and her mother's? Russian speech. Not without mistakes, and still, pretty good
In the CN trailer, the Cyrillic has no latin latters iirc

When we read the story, about the description of Rayashki running out of resources. The villagers and workers are willing to speak out their voice and work hard.
Compare to the reality, when USSR was about to collapsed, the government took everything from the people who worked hard. Yet, they said nothing about it. The factory and collective farms closed. Because they were funded by the government. Now Russians still willing to hug USSR and revive it. But they didn't realize their revolution was failed one hundred years ago. The Empire is still in Russia. Nothing was changed.
And I finally caught up in the main story today. Let’s go!!

Sadly I’m skipping both Vila and windsong. Because I already have a good dps (jiu) and a good healer (yenisei). So I’m going to use this event to save up pulls since I’m a free to play player, and therefore i can get Lucy very easily.

@@Sh0rt_F0x1 i dont like any banners that separates from the normal limited banner when i have been building my pity. As far as im concern i could lose that to Ms NewBabel at 60+ pity. Also, their designs doesnt justify my need to pull for them since i can already clear all the content with the existing characters.
@mrmeat168 on Lucy's banner, there is no saving pity because she is a limited character and so I'm saving up 70 or more so I can get the hard pity. Plus, I'm kinda lucky!
