Romans 11:5 KJV "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election (chosen) of Grace. 6 And if by Grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise Grace is no more Grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more Grace: otherwise work is no more work."
Note: Grace and works cannot go together. They contradict one another. Grace is a free gift but works are something done to earn and deserve a reward.
Romans 4:4 KJV "Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of Grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that works not, but believes on HIM that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

A relative of mine was instrumental in making Columbus Day a national holiday. We have a picture of him with President Taft. Christopher Columbus was a 3rd order Franciscan. After Christopher, which means "Christ-bearer”, read Isaiah, he felt he was being called to convert souls and to go to the ends of the earth to do it. He decided he should go to India to evangelize. He aimed to go to India but, by going around the world from the other side. He obtained funding from King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella because the pope had asked the King and Queen to send missionaries to India. They could only afford to do it after the war with the Muslim Moors was over. On January 2nd, 1492, at the battle of Granada, the moors were driven out of Spain. The document for the funding of the voyage was signed at our Lady of Guadalupe in Extremadura SPAIN. This is where the shire that holds the carving by St Luke is. Christopher Columbus’s journals are online, and you can read how much money he got and why he was going on this mission. He set sail on the 6th of September, but the winds were not favorable, so they were lingering just outside the harbor. The favorable winds did not come till September 8th, the birthday of Our Lady. Every night all the crew would come up on deck and sing The Salve Regina; Hail Holy Queen Mother of Mercy our life, our sweetness and our hope. They cited land on October 11th which at that time was the feast of the motherhood of Mary. They landed on October 12, the feast of Our Lady Of the Pillar. The boats for the voyage were; The Nina which means girl. The Pinta which means paints, and the Santa Maria which means Holy Mary. This was an announcement of the coming of Our Blessed Mother to the Americas. It was a prophecy of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. When Our Blessed Mother appeared to Juan Diego, she appeared to him as a young girl. It was this young girl who created the image of Herself on the Tilma. It is She who converted 8 million indigenous people in the Americas. Our lord Prophesied this in the third year of his ministry when He was at the temple. He was Confronted by His enemies and for those who can believe it. I will tell you some of the words of that exchange.
The Pharisees and scribes shout: « And who do You expect is going to lift You up? Miserable is that Country whose king is a silly charlatan and a blasphemer disliked by God. None of us will lift You up, You may be sure of that. And the little intelligence You are still left with has made You realize that in time, when You were put to the test. You know that we shall never be able to make You our king!»
Our Lord said « I know. You will not raise Me to a throne, and yet you will lift Me up. And while lifting Me up you will think that you are lowering Me. And just when you think that you have lowered Me, I shall be raised. Not only over Palestine, not only over the people of Israel spread all over the world, but over the whole world, even over pagan countries, even over those countries of which the learned people of the world are still unaware. And I shall be raised not only for the lifetime of a man, but for the whole life of the Earth and the shadow of My throne will spread more and more over the Earth until it covers it completely. Then only, I will come back and you will see Me.
Oh! You shall see Me!» « Listen to His speech of a madman! We shall raise Him by lowering Him, and we shall lower Him by raising Him! He's mad! And the shadow of His throne all over the Earth. Greater than Cyrus! Greater than Alexander! Greater than Caesar! And what about Caesar? Do You think he will allow You to take the Roman empire? And He is going to last on His throne until the end of the world! Ha! Ha!» Their words are more grievous than slaps; their irony is more painful than scourging. But Jesus lets them speak. He raises His voice to be heard in the outcry of those who deride and of those who defend, filling the place with the roar of a rough sea. « When you have raised the Son of man, then you will understand who I am and you will realize that I do nothing by Myself, but I say what My Father taught Me and I do what He wants. And He Who sent Me does not leave Me all alone, but He is with Me. As a shadow follows a body, so is the Father behind Me, watchful and present, although invisible. He is behind Me and comforts and helps Me and He does not go away because I always do what He likes. God instead goes away when His children do not obey His laws and His inspirations. He then goes away and leaves them all alone. That is why many people in Israel commit sin. Because when man is left to himself, it is difficult for him to remain just and he easily falls into the coils of the Snake. I solemnly tell you that because of your sin in resisting the Light and Mercy of God, He leaves you and will no longer dwell in this place or in your hearts and what Jeremiah grieved over in his prophecies and lamentations will be fulfilled. Meditate on those prophetical words, tremble and return to your senses with good minds. Do not listen to the threats but to the kindness of the Father Who warns His children while they are still granted the possibility to make amends and save themselves. Listen to God in His words and deeds, and if you do not want to believe My words, because old Israel is suffocating you, believe at least in old Israel. Her prophets proclaim the dangers and misfortunes of the Holy City and of all our Fatherland if she does not convert to the Lord her God and does not follow the Saviour. The hand of God weighed heavily on this people in the past. But the past and present are nothing as compared to the dreadful future, which is awaiting it for not accepting the Messenger sent by God."
'Christobal' - Χρίστο-בעל meaning Christ is Master is the Sephardic rendition of the Greek 'Christophoros' - Χριστόφορος, ie Christbearer.
He was a Sephardic Jew according to DNA results from yesterday but may have converted for all we know.

Indigenous people day? Why?
Columbus was a fool who thought he could sail 2500 miles and reach India. Even though the ancient Greeks correctly approximated the size of the earth.
Wrong. He had two measurements from which to choose, supposedly. He knew how to use a sextant and he knew how to take three very large canoes (to call them ships is ridiculous) across the ocean with supplies that he took with him for his men.
And YOU? Your skills for that kind of voyage are what exactly? Do you know how to use a sextant? Do you have the courage for that voyage?
