    I was baptized into the Anglican Church 75 years ago as a baby and am a lifelong practicing Anglican. No matter how much I read the Bible or BCP I find there is always something new to learn. This video has been most helpful. Thank you.

    Appreciate this. I am a Catholic in Shanghai. I found an Anglican priest from the US of your tradition who led an awesome congregation with some solid catechism classes. I learned quite about and began to appreciate the BCP 2019 edition from the process and was drawn to it as a Catholic.

    I am a Roman Catholic. I was drawn to Personal Ordinariate's bcp, book of Divine Worship. There i found out about daily office but it was overwhelming. Thank God an internet tutorial helped me navigating daily office using 1979 episcopal bcp. It is not as daunting as it was.

      This is not the 1979 BCP it is the 2019 BCP. He is not an Episcopalian, he is Anglican which is a break-away group from the main Episcopal church.

      Hi Wilbur, just wanted to clarify here. I don’t think Alethea was saying that this was an Episcopal priest or the 1979 BCP. I think they were just describing their experience
      Also Anglicans are not a break away from the Episcopal church. It’s actually the other way around. Hope this helps! Peace!

    Besides reading the Psalms, I want to sing the Psalms as I do the Daily Office from home. Where can I find an online directory, website or CD with the Psalms being sung at home so that I may learn to sing them as I do the Daily Office?

      As an Anglican I would suggest you get the 2019 BCP. It’s based on the 1662 prayer book which is considered the standard version. The 2019 version has updated language. I’m on my second book as my husband and I pray the Daily Office which is 4 times a day so the book gets lots of use! Having this daily rhythm of prayer and scripture reading has transformed our lives. We have been Anglicans for about 10 years and feel like we have come into what we would call “a deeper conversion“. May the Lord bless you as you pursue following Jesus in this very rich tradition of Anglicanism.

    When praying the Office by oneself, should the invitation to the confession be read (i.e. "Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God")? Also, in the opening versicles and responds, what should be done at: "Praise the Lord. The Lord's Name be praised."? And then later, after the Apostle's Creed: "The Lord be with you. And with your spirit.... etc."? And the last part: "Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God."? Are these parts of the Office simply skipped? Or are they modified in some way?

    • @paulcaswell2813
      @paulcaswell2813 3 года назад +1

      The General Confession can only be one by an ordained priest. Overall, 1662 is not designed for solo worship, but is to be used within the church environment. Versicles and responses luck everywhere!

      The 2019 bcp was published by acna for their use. Other anglican groups in north america still use their own bcp's.

      this is a very belated response to your question from three years ago. Hopefully you’ve already started using this wonderful tool. You can use the prayer book to move through The Old and New Testament every two years by praying the morning prayer schedule the first year and the evening prayer schedule the second year. If you use the daily office as laid out, you’ll read through the Old Testament once, and the New Testament twice. It has been organized such that morning.prayer will take you through half of the Old Testament and all of the New Testament and evening prayer will take you through the remainder of the Old Testament and fully through the New Testament. Blessings as you do this!

    Some time in April of 2022, Anglican Liturgy Press will be releasing an abridged version of The Book of Common Prayer 2019. In this prayer book, most of all the sections that are unused by laypeople will be removed leaving behind the "bread and butter" for daily use. If you want to learn more about this book, watch this link's video ruclips.net/video/7nGr84bvXwk/видео.html

      We do "need" it. It is not necessary for salvation but it is an important part of Anglican identity. It's just about the only thing that unites this quite divided church. To throw out the prayerbook in either private or congregational practice is to neglect to participate in the Anglican communion.
