A very thorough and in depth video! I dont know, nor need, a smart lock but your videos are always worth a watch, you come across as a very open and cheeky chappy, always entertaining!
I have looked at all of those too Adam. Either they were super expensive, hard to install, used weird power, didn't have the features I want, or something else. I never found one I liked there, so this seems to fit all the requirements. Consider using my affiliate link if you get one 😊
Wow its pretty big , colleague grabbed an $90.00 chinese special off Ebay 6 months ago , low profile includes key pad , solid metal construction, easy install and works with automation systems. He said apparently its working well.
Sure thing, there are many options out there. Does it also work with any kind of lock and door? What kind of "automation systems" does it integrate with? Got a link?
Lars: "umm llamas are making a weird sound everytime i unlock this door". Narrator: Later that day Lars discovered that a llama had swallowed his spare blind motor and was doing cartwheels with each door opening.
I just got mine and the B bracket came with 3M tape on the back with no option to screw it on to the existing lock with screws… this doesnt seem normal?
I would have thought the same screws fit into the A or B bracket? The B bracket can be installed either using the 3M adhesive pad, or with screws. It depends on your lock type and what you prefer.
I'm really intrigued, with the nfc feature could a guests phone be set as a card? I think that would be the thing that would make me get the keypad. Also loved the t-shirt (& it was pointed out to me by a smaller viewer that you weren't using an LTT screwdriver 🤣)
No, it doesn't allow just any NFC card it seems. I tried with my Unifi NFC card, and it wouldn't accept it. And you would need to then pair the guest phone with the keypad, which makes it kinda defeat the purpose of contactless checkin. Yes, I have integrity and respect other people, so wouldn't use that rubbish.
@@LarsKlintTech ah boo thanks for trying. Can you use NFC on your phone to unlock it though? (Was thinking that would be great when I go out without my keys if I didn't have to open home assistant/switchbot app to unlock it)
@@LarsKlintTech "excuse me, just checking something for a RUclips comment, don't mind me". I can just imagine their feedback for staying in the cottage if you did that 🤣
I'm super keen to go smart locks, but my main doors are metal with very narrow and integrated manual locks. Anyone done anything with the (very expensive) Yale ones ?
@@EvanWasHere Apologies for that. Bluetooth made more sense for me. It is a similar approach, where you have to authenticate with your SwitchBot account after you have set up the Hub as a connection for the Lock Pro. You can also use Matter instead, if that is more your thing.
Most smart locks are adding a "pin" required to unlock, which breaks automation with HA. Glad to see this one indeed does not require one 30:35
Yes, that kinda defeats the purpose of many automations I think. You can add a pin to this one too, but don't have to have it.

Thanks for the kind words. I record things as I find them and help where I can. And it has to be a bit entertaining too or I'll bore myself 😁
As always Lars... lite hearted and informative content.
Thanks Phil. That is the vibe I am going for 😊
Great timing, I was just looking at smart locks at Bunnings yesterday. This looks better than what they had.

My favourite T-Shirt - I wore mine out
Mine is a weird shape too after all the washing 😂
oh, you have an AirBnb? how to find it - "Lama Farm Stay with Tech?" 😂
Bingo.
Love it. Have one myself but I wouldn't recommend it on a door with a glass.
Yeah, that is fair. In my case it isn't as big a deal, but I know what you mean.

That's where it went!!
Thanks for this review. Do you recommend any lock with fingerprint and can be fully connected to HA?
You're welcome. I've only tested this one lock, so can't recommend others. What do you mean by "fully". Which features do you need?

can you please name other locks that allow pin changing via home assistant?
I believe you can change the pin in Home Assistant with some Schlage and Yale locks.
Hi , did you buy the US version or UK version. I didnt get the key turner as video time=717
I have no idea. I am in Australia. What did you get instead?

to get it to sync to home assistant via bluetooth do you have to have your raspberry pi within range of the lock im guessing?
You do, and if that isn't enough range, check out Bluetooth proxies too: ruclips.net/video/iuTUQS04jGc/видео.html
Can’t say I would get this. However when the unifi ptz g5 is available (although more chance of getting hens teeth).
Keep checking the store. They come into stock regularly, but sell out super fast.

How long did batteries last?
I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but the marketing says 9 months. That is one bank of batteries , so you then have time to replace them.
You didnt show how to add it through the hub?
You mean in Home Assistant?
@LarsKlintTech yes. You showed how to do it via Bluetooth. But not the second method you mentioned via the hub into home Assistant.

@@LarsKlintTech My issue is that the lock and my HA server are across the house from each other, so my server won't be able to see the bluetooth.
@@EvanWasHere That is easily fixed with a HA Bluetooth proxy: ruclips.net/video/iuTUQS04jGc/видео.html
