It’s disgusting how people think they can get away with stuff like this. I think I can speak for everyone when I say thank you the amazing content you make and we will try help you through this man. Have a spitfire on us mate. Love your work Chris
Myself and so many others have loved the work you've produced over the years and i personally always look foreward to seeing your name pop up in my new videos inbox. To see you go from youtube would be a MASSIVE shame, but just know you have the support of all of us from the Bodmin and Wenford
As a budding rail enthusiast, I managed to get onto your videos by way of some of our mutual friends, Chris. I still maintain the fact you are one of (if not the) most ethical and detailed film makers in the Railway fraternity. Always an honest man, one who's doing the work they enjoy in order to survive, something that can not be said for the majority of others, especially those who criticise your work. I'm truly saddened that the events of recent times have made you feel this way, but let's be honest, it's only the true reality of how a content creator should feel when stuff like this happens. If people do not sympathise or understand you, or any content creator, on this point then they have many more miles to travel before they learn about true reality. On the Spectrum front, as an Aspergers man myself, I will say I find it extremely infuriating, depressing, annoying and defeating. Yet again, one of our own kind within the rail enthusiasm circles has done this. I will admit, I somewhat have little sympathy when relatives say "but they don't comprehend it" on these sorts of issues, it is not an excuse, only an explanation, but if the individual case is one where more input is required, then why are the family and support networks around these individuals not upping their efforts to correct the lack of understanding and curbing the behaviour? It's getting to the point where I might even start blogging again to make these points. Hopefully, these instances against your efforts will stop, and you continue to produce high quality, extremely detailed, productions for railway enthusiasts. Should you leave, or be forced to leave, RUclips/Facebook, it will be a great shame, but you will leave behind a great hole that no one can fill. You might well be a commercial entity, however, other commercial entities in our field of interest are not as accessible to the public, and because of that, I hope you remain. You do have a good following and long may that continue. I hope you can progress over this hurdle and continue your fantastic work. The majority of us appreciate it, Chris. Take care my friend, Bruce
As someone from the US who has a passion for British steam I hope this piracy stops. Piracy is called piracy for a reason, as it is theft. Chris, you do a great job and it really is a shame theft is occuring to you.
I’m sorry to hear about this. I’m glad you were able to get this off your chest and hopefully it won’t affect your passion, even if you don’t do it for RUclips. But I and a lot of people love what you do because your amazing at it. Whenever new one comes on RUclips I always sit down with my dad to watch it and we love your content. Now I’m considering getting your dvds. And so on. I hope you feel better soon Chris. Alex
As a RUclipsr and is constantly hearing how RUclips and Facebook almost does nothing against Piracy, I hope a better site against both comes in the future with better rules and much easier. Chris, I hope you don’t leave RUclips, man. I feel your pain sometimes. I hope the problems against Piracy go away soon. Not to be religious, but prayers to you from the USA, dude. 🙏🏻👍🏻
When I first came across your channel I immediately fell in love with your content. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Very informative while still keeping an interesting and upbeat atmosphere. I won't ever stop loving what you put out because from past experience I can count on the fact that you take what you do very seriously and professionally. And your dedication to the craft is admirable. I don't see a lot of people who choose to give up certain luxuries and such to pursue what they love like you do and I thank you for that. I don't necessarily condone it but I thank you for it. In the end, whatever you choose to do I will understand and respect and I think a lot of your subscribers will also. It may be sad if it ended but we should smile because it happened. Thank you.
This is a unfortunate turn of events. I have to say I love SLIPS because it presents steam locomotives in a fun way that keeps people interested rather than an old man droning on about it like many documentaries on the subject. At the end of the day do what is best for you and your needs.
Unless the offended party can afford it. Well, "offended" in that case, there is no way Disney suffers any harm from someone uploading The Mandalorian episodes on RUclips. But those are the cases when platforms actually do act. The little guys like Chris? Those are the people who actually do suffer from this, and they are also the people that are ignored.
It's safest to assume anything posted on the internet is being given away. Unless you have the financial and emotional wherewithal to pursue content pirates, it's a waste of time. An algorithm doesn't know if the theft is malicious, ignorance or a mental health issue, and getting past robots and automated replies is, intentionally, nigh on impossible. Anyone who can monetise content has my admiration. Anyone policing that content successfully is a lawyer.
Sad to hear Chris, but I will say I’ve been watching your videos since day 1 and always love them, your one of the best railway RUclipsrs out there for me, don’t let the haters get to you
Being from the other side of the world (I’m Australian) I love seeing what the heritage groups in the UK are doing which seeing this through your work is amazing and what you do not a lot of people will do this and I haven’t seen any people here in Australia do what you do so keep up the amazing work and please don’t stop what you are doing
I remember a few months back bumping into you at the midland railway with me and a friend we asked to take a picture, and at the time one thing that crossed mind was just, 'oh wow, he looks a little nervous? And we're what only 15 and 16' I think now I've seen this video I understand that better, it's your decision as to whether you keep uploading or not, but just whatever you decide to do, I want to say good luck, I genuinely and whole heartedly hope it goes well for you and improves your life
I'm sorry to hear this. As a fan from the U.S. I have loved your channel. It helps to keep me informed on British locomotives and your Gauge the Issue have been both informative and entertaining. I always hope to see more videos, but you have to do what you feel is the right choice. Try to keep the steam up, you do great work.
I'm glad you came out about you problems, Chris. Just know that in spite of all those bad people on the internet, you'll always have support from those who care about you and your content.
I have been watching you’re content for over 5 years at least, I’ve learned so much from just watching steam locos in profile, sole slips, gauge the issue, etc. While I don’t watch you’re content as much as I used to, to be honest, every single video I watch, I learn something new. Whether be content from the past, the now, and the future, I always loved watching it. I’d hate to see all future work stop getting post on RUclips anymore, but I that’s how things are going to be then, you do you. I just wanted to say, thanks for making such interesting content that never seems to lose that charm it had all those years ago, heck other than books, steam locos in profile was the only place I got any information for steam locos for a long time. So, thanks man, hope things don’t turn for the worst.
This is one of the creators that actually talk about their problems and talk about what they think They say what they think They say what is needed We need more respect to these type of creators Chris, if you are reading this, we love your work, even though lots of us don’t have the money to buy your stuff, we love what you do and want you to continue it You do what you like You do what you want You want to be free and... ( partly ) You are free
can i say, when ive had a bit of a bad day, i usually sit down, turn on my laptop, go on youtube and sit back and watch the old slips, sole slips, TTNS, and Gauge the issue. its upsetting that people will do this, and how Facebook and RUclips's automated features dont really help content creators. i have had something similar happen to me in the past and i lost out big time when something of mine was taken from me and copied. from that, i can understand where you are coming from with this chris and i would like to say thank you for bringing me a smile with your content and tell the lads they do some cracking filming. may i say that many of us from The CCLR (Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway) find joy and smile at your videos, some times we are even amazed by some surviving classes we never knew existed. you have our support chris...Always.
Keep going Chris, I’m very small fry to you doing classic car videos with some 500 subs, and there has been times I’ve thought why am I bothering making videos for various reasons. But your right mate, it’s the positive people that keep you going. Just on a side note, I use to volunteer at Llangollen Railway, I’ve not been involved with railways for years now, when I came across your videos from a few years back (SLIPs) it’s was like a sense of relief from the normal train runs by the camera video. Your videos are awesome, because you make them interesting and easy to watch. Your videos are decent mate, I look forward to watching them, keep up the great work chap. You’re going through a rough patch, pirates will always go about, you just gotta keep ya chin up and fight ya way though the situations your in. I know it’s easy for me to say and different when your in the situation, but you’ll get there chap
It always sucks when people online do and say horrible things from the safety of their screens, and it sucks to be on the receiving end. But I can say that you are an amazing person and a wonderful creator. I've been watching you content for my entire College life and it has brought me joy during times of stress that reach a boiling point. SLIP is a genuine, well edited marvel that bests anything put on television. Being am American, I love UL Locos, they're beautiful, elegant, and breath taking. You present them as such through your excellent camera work and factual narration I may be going off on a tangent, but that's because I love the content you put out, and I hate to hear that this is happening to you. Never let any of those horrible people get you down. You're great and that will never change Take a rest, you more than earned it.
I cannot imagine the level of anxiety that led to you making this video. I am so sorry. I am also a fan from the USA and could not help noticing how many overseas viewers you have. It may be some consolation that your work is reaching a world-wide audience, of which you can be incredibly proud. Thank you for all you do.
Ben. H here, Christ mate by the sounds of it you've been stalwart in dealing with all this. I'll be sure to start sharing Facebook posts more at the very least if it's any help. Here for you mate!
I’m so sorry you’re going through this difficult time. The first slip episode I watched was the terrier episode and I loved it. As you continued with your other endeavors (sole slips, gauge the issue, train now staring), I was always so excited seeing what new material you posted. I love listening to your gauge the issues while I’m getting ready for the day or the train now staring while I’m driving. Your videos put a smile on my face as they did to many many others. You’ve done fantastic Chris. I know whatever you decide, your hardcore fans will understand and support you. Courage my friend.
Well, You're welcome back here at the Severn Valley any time Chris! :-) I'm fairly new to what you've been doing here (subbed for about a year) and do appreciate the effort you refer to, with filming a particular engine, at a particular time, ect. And all the other effort in general of coarse. :-) RUclips is way better then facebook, but RUclips still isn't anywhere near perfect. 2020 is going to be a rough year for a lot of us. That being said, RUclips is, and has been for years a viable source of income. Not just through RUclips itself, but ads, affiliates, luts, sponsors, ect. People should know that by now and stop telling any of us to "get a real job". It's an old excuse they use for there lack of knowledge. The railway enthusiasts community is an awesome one to be a part of, and you're work is clearly loved by many. To loose one of us through these circumstances would really suck, but we would always respect your decision, and welcome you back when your ready for your return. :-) All the best Chris, happy new year! (I hope) Cya soon! Sammy B :-)
Don't ever stop being you, Chris, and you are indeed a most fine filmmaker. Your content, especially Gauge The Issue, has given me not only copious amounts of entertainment, but gives me a chance to look forward to watch something I've always wanted that mimics my liking. Working for the railways is not easy, and in all my years working for Sydney Trains, the crap that goes with the job can really curb your enthusiasm for railways in general after a while. Sadly that has happened to me over the years, and I had stopped filming trains for quite a long time consequently. But content like yours gives me the opportunity to just forget about my job for once, and makes me reflect on why I love the world of railways in the first place. Whatever decision you make regarding your content, whether it stays on RUclips or moves to a paid only streaming service, I'll always continue to support your work regardless 🙂
Someone: *steals people's copyrighted material* Facebook: *nothing happens* Me: *makes a meme mocking the Nazis in a group* Facebook: *bans the meme within hours* Facebook really has its priorities mixed up, it is quick to ban memes that mock Nazis but refuses to act when people's material are being stolen.
@@able_archer01 well in my case it was within a European History meme page and my meme was reported by an actual Neo-Nazi, who was offended by my meme. Basically he was trying to silence any jokes or criticism of the Nazis. Fortunately the Neo-Nazi twat was quickly exposed, named and shamed and then banned from the group. That or Facebook secretly sympathise and admire the Nazis.
As one of the overseas fans (from the USA), you have my full support for having your content continue in the face of these adversities. SLIPs and GTI have been absolutely fantastic works that would certainly fit on a place like the History Channel (if they stopped focusing on ALIENS). I enjoy watching your videos and will continue for as long as possible! Keep On Steaming, Chris!
I think we can all agree that we make a joint effort to get rid of these people causing all this grief. Like Chris said, take action when you see pirated content.
13:38 That’s just disgusting! How could someone’s channel be almost deleted/actually deleted because someone lied about there copyright claims. I can only imagine the amount of stress on the guy when he was told this. If he had panic attacks then this could really set him off. Now I’m sorry to say this but RUclips need to up there copyright system. They could’ve at least looked at then dates of when the video was uploaded.
I remember when that was going on. Was shocked by the YT algorithm. You'd think the geniuses at Google would have the algorithm programmed by being able to detect which video was uploaded first, but no. It's just by who ever gets in the're copyright notice first. Completely flawed back then. Seams like the newer algorithm is better though. Even if it is late.
I’m so glad that Chris did win in the end, he has (in my opinion) a one-of-a-kind RUclips channel, but a video like this makes us realise how little power some people truly have.
Personally, being Autistic, I know that a lot of other Autistic people need to be told time and time again that its bad to do things like this. Its like in the army, you're drilled to know things. I've learnt that from having been in the Army Cadets for 4 and a half years, so I have realised that drilling things into my head helps me understand it. I think Grant's family need to help him more in understanding why its wrong to take other people's stuff. I'm not saying you're trying to be mean towards him, but from this just take it in and maybe talk to Grant's relative about what Grant is like. Try to understand Autism more, everyone should understand. I might even go into Autism awareness, as one of my college classmates goes round raising awareness.
I think that's an individual thing rather than a general autism thing, to be fair. In the 10 years experience I've gained from mixing with other Autism/Aspergers people, some cases need it but others don't so much. Just generally flagging someone as autistic in an attempt to declare their innocence can make the whole spectrum look bad as a result. And those who don't need the drilling often end up resenting such drilling as unnecessary preaching and just carry on regardless in rebellion. That being said, I can get why some need drilling more than others. I'm not saying I don't agree with you or don't see your perception of the situation. But I don't think autism should be used as an excuse in situations like these.
@@ChristheXelent Being an autistic adult, and come to think of it I was probably an autistic child before reaching adulthood where someone finally looked deep enough to get to the root of the matter, _(sure would have made my life less hell if they'd made that diagnosis in, oh, 1970, instead of 2005)_ I'm going to affirm that people can be autistic and still know the difference between legitimate and illegitimate activity, and be fully capable of choosing which one to do. And it is possible while being autistic to be more absorbed or less absorbed in self and getting what one wants when one wants it, never mind 'manners'. And I expect a case can be supported and made that current culture supports and even applauds absorption in self - sometimes even to an extreme of, "It exists and I _can_ take it, therefore it is my _Right_ to take it".
I have a 39 year old son who was diagnosed with Aspergers when he was 27 or 28. He knows the difference between right and wrong, legal and illegal. There are far too many folks with a flagging of "something" to make them a victim is bad for everyone. It just "gives" these people a reason to not be held accountable for anything which is also wrong. Everyone should be held accountable for whatever they do unless they are actually a baby under 2.
@@Bahamas-rd8le It's a joke if i'm honest, RUclips pretty much doesn't care for copyright, hence the automated system, yet posted a lot about Article 13 about 'protecting content creators'
I have been a fan of your work for a number of years, and it is shameful that people can have so little respect for you and what you do. You may or may not remember we met at the Groudle Glen railway last year, and I was positively delighted to have run into you, and spoken for a few minutes. Thanks for what you do, it’s awesome!
I’m sorry this happened. I will continue to watch for piracy. I thank you for your work! And by the way, what is the background music called? It’s wonderful!
Sorry to hear about this Chris. I listen to your videos while I work and they really help with the daily monotony of office life. I hope you stick around and you will always have my support.
I think I speak for many in saying that your videos have been a huge inspiration and of great value to the railway enthusiast and preservation communities, and it's an absolute shame that it comes down to a minority of selfish people and the incompetence of social media which could jeopardise what the rest of us hold in high regard. Full support to you and the guys, and I hope things work out for you in the future!
Oh dear God this was a tough listen (that said, the engines were easy in the eyes, nice shots by the way and shout outs to your two friends if any of those were theirs). Sorry you have to deal with this nonsense, it’s ridiculous, I won’t sit here and try to pretend that I can say anything to make the situation better, but I do have one thing that’s bothering me. Um...is the money really that bad that you miss out on eating? ‘Cause if so, shit, I’ll gladly buy a few SLIPs off the website ASAP.
My only outlet to British trains, if it disappeared, I’d be so sad. The fact that it may go away makes me want to cry. I absolutely love your work! The fact I’ve tried to order the DVDs since the 2nd volume. It’s great to see these informative videos about interesting locomotives. It’s a great way to get away from issues with my family, and just enjoy some fabulous locomotives. These videos have helped add new locomotives to my favorite list. I’m willing to pay double for this kind of content. It’s super high quality, entertaining, and it’s educational! What’s not to like? Stay awesome, Nate
I'm sorry for you having to go through all of that. Your work is phenomenal and thanks to your videos in particular a spark within me has reignited. I'm sorry if this isn't super interesting to read through but I digress. When I was younger, starting at age 10 I used to be a volunteer at the North Zealand Heritage train club (or NSJV) in Denmark, mostly selling souvenirs onboard their trains. They don't have their own line but most of their trains run on the local branch lines, whose operator they're on very good terms with. Anyways that's beside the point. I had to leave the association at around 4 years ago because of boarding school and following that high school taking up much of my time and making me geographically distant from their work. Never the less, when I found your videos it started to reignite my passion for the heritage trains, and while I still don't have the time to join them again, I still try to say hi and hear how it's going whenever they're on the same station as me. And now that I've finally figured out how to get my PayPal to work, I decided it would be best of me to support you a bit. So I bought the first episode I ever saw from your show, the one that reignited it all. The Austerity episode. I just love little engines like them. (Probably because the heritage association that I volunteered at has the only British Saddletank in my country, a little Huddswell & Clarke 0-4-0 nicknamed "The Turtle") and it's very likely I'll buy even more episodes as time goes by and my funds will allow for it. But anyways, I love your work and me, as well as many others just wish the best for you. Sorry for going off track so much but just know that you have the support and admiration from me (and judging by the comment section, many others as well, which I'm happy to see). And greetings from Denmark btw.
Chris, well stated as always. As an American who has watched your channel since the dawn of SLIPS, you’re one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Every video shines with passion, and it’s a shame that people have pirated your videos. While my own numbers and channel size pale in comparison to your own, I’ve had to deal with piracy issues, to the same extent. I couldn’t imagine in your case the hardship of being financially dependent on the videos. RUclips’s change is seriously harming the potential of earning revenue, and your frustration is well understood but I hope you never lose the drive and passion behind your work, whether it be any of your videos or in your other work. Thank you for all that you have done.
Oh Chris I'm so sorry about this! Freelance artist like you are victims of this way too often. All I can say is, I'm glad you're taking a step back and calming yourself, and on the off-chance that 2020 is the last year of SLIP on RUclips...well I'll be a bit upset for sure, but I'll certainly understand. Best of luck in the future
I have watched your videos for the last two years or so. They help to continue to inspire me to be creative on not only my youtube videos, but also in my train drawings. I could put on an episode and listen while I work on a drawing of a steam locomotive. I'd hate to see your content be reduced or even gone off of here as it is a shame that there are people out there that have to take the fun (and financial support) out of the things that we love. Best of luck in the future.
As a photographer, I feel your frustration and pain. People don’t understand copyright. Someone once told me that because I’d uploaded a photo to the internet, he was entitled to use it for any purpose he chose. He sent me a Christmas card, with my image on it. It’s difficult to sue some you’ve known for forty years but if only he’d asked, I’d have been happy.
I do appreciate this Chris, as someone who shares similar views. People who don't know well about railways and people classed as autistic are inclined to run with the premonition that only those who do would care anyway. I grew up with a conflicted mind when it came to expectations for myself, but eventually came round to realise that my sense of expectations is everything. Part of that is approaching the subject of railway history in a way that is not contrived to being aimed specifically at the fans WITHOUT secluding the emphasis on the fans. It is that latter point that I was missing when I was trying to suggest improvements on your previous videos - not undermining the primary audience whilst at the same time embracing new ideas to help make your videos appeal on a wider scale, like perhaps incorporating a mascot Muppet-style character - it might cost extra to invest in but believe me, as someone who usually thinks outside the box anyway, I can already see the success that might bring. Samuel F.
I really don't know what to say. Except that I'm sorry you're going through all this. And I understand the feeling of having difficulty managing an extra job in addition to your film stuff; manufacturing is my currently occupation, and it can be stressful at times. (Mercifully, my current job is relatively low on stress.) And I agree with you about how awful a place the internet is. Also, I am delighted to hear that you are on the Autism spectrum, as I am too. (Along with many of my relatives, and my fiance.) And, as you probably know from my tweet, my overseas deliveries have all successfully made it here to the United States. I am happy to support you and your work. It's been especially fun to watch your videos post-my UK Trip, as I can see places and say "I've been there!" Again, I'm sorry for what you're going through, and hope things can get better. And I will do my best to help if I can.
Hi Chris, I want to start this by saying the Slips taught me a lot more about railways then I ever knew when I first got into them when I was a boy, and I now actively look out for more information regarding my favourite locomotives and railway (the LNER). Being in Australia makes it understandably difficult for me to go to railways in the UK, so I greatly appreciate the high quality filmmaking you and the others put into Slips simply because I may never get to see the real thing for myself. I will admit that in harder financial times I did consider pirating your work for myself, but opted against doing so because it didn't sit right with me. Next pay I plan on ordering all of your Slips DVDs because I feel bad about not having supported you financially, hopefully that little bit helps you mate. Take care of yourself, and don't let the bastards grind you down.
I'd like to thank you for all the effort that you've put in over the years to producing really top quality work. The world is full of people who can't help but take advantage, put down or belittle people. The internet just happens to give these people a platform to abuse others. I hope you can continue your work for many years to come. Your work is very much appreciated
Although I'm a diesel fan and have never paid much interest in steam in the past, I've always found your content interesting to watch and always watch your videos from the start to end. Quite a rarity for me! Thank you for bringing some great content to my screen
Your content is always high quality and you yourself should never stop being awesome. Your videos always bring a smile to my and my family's faces. Long may it continue in whatever form you choose to use
Only just found your channel. I've only recently developed an interest in UK steam since my trip to SVR last year during the Diesel Gala, and man, your cinematography is fucking top notch.
I fully support what you're saying and you're fight against blatant copyright infringement of your brilliant uplifting work, especially your rant against the cheapskate automated responses from both Facebook (who needs it) and especially RUclips, who depends wholly on you and other content providers for their profits and should be making a real effort to punish the copyright infringers who then pass it off as their work and not the legitimate copyright holders like you who have spent time and effort on making entertaining videos. Carry on the good work as I for one enjoy your work and wouldn't want to see you leave RUclips on account of some low life pirating your work.
Watched it to the end (smashing camera work). It reminded me how I felt working as a garden designer, suddenly everyone was becoming garden designers and the whole scene changed. I got ripped off for designs, money, well I felt just like you are describing. I kept going for a few years hoping that things would settle down again, but for me I had to give it up and do something else. I would understand if you made that same awful decision, but I'm hoping you don't. I'd like to wish you a happy (happier) new year and all the best of British luck (whatever that is).
Chris - I love what you do, I have paid for it, and would be happy to to continue to do so. Listening to this was painful and upsetting - but watching it was exactly the sort of quality footage that proves your one of the best. Fuck the haters, and fuck the thieves. Stay well my friend and if you stop uploading on RUclips you will still have at least one customer who will happily pay for anything you do.
I think I speak for everyone that you make amazing content that sets us thinking and sometimes even reconsidering. I do hope you'll get through this well. From the Netherlands, Sander Boom
It's totally royally screwed the manner in which FB and YT "bot" police fail to spot reality. I for one love your content. Love the amusing way you present your channel. As an ex pom living in Sydney, I love watching your videos to keep my eye into the preservation scene.
I'm so sorry about this Chris, I have loved all the content you have produced over the years. You have inspired me to get into the Rail Industry and start volunteering at my local heritage railway here in Queensland Australia. You have inspired so many people of the years and to those people that pirate content, they can get fucked.
Some people will say things on e mail, u tube etc, which they wouldn't say face to face. I do enjoy your site despite occasionally disagreeing with you. I think your site provides a valuable assessment albeit with opinions and is enjoyable to watch. It enables me to see things I am not easily able to see. So thank you for the site and please keep up the good, no excellent work.
It's a shame it's come to this. Your content is some of the best and most enjoyable to watch. If it hits the fan, if it hasn't already, I'll support your decision, whatever the case. I may not be the first to say this, but thank you.
I am so, so sorry for the way you feel. I rarely have the money to support you & your amazing work which I've watched since the beginning, but I certainly would contribute in a patreon if it allows you to carry on because I really do enjoy what you do & have immense respect for those with the balls big enough to head out there & make content creation their day job
I, myself, am also on the autistic spectrum. People like that put us innocent ones like me, you and everyone else here to shame as you have said. Just know that you are not alone going through the bullshit that selfish social media are putting you through. Most huge RUclipsrs are going through the same. And it's unfair for the creator and the viewer. So I will do whatever I can to help you, Chris and to help stop this horrible piracy. Thanks for providing the best railway channel in the UK. You are awesome and please don't stop doing what you are doing!
Sorry to hear this Chris, I love watching your video's on your channel. Also you do great work making them, so that us can enjoy the beauty of steam locomotives.
It’s sad when people online think that they can get away with taking the original owner’s content without their permission or giving credit to said owner and then passing off as their own when it clearly isn’t. I honestly wonder if those who would do that and don’t give a crap about it would ever realize that it might damage one’s reputation because they would think that it is funny, when it isn’t. It’s just extremely messed up. Another thing about someone using autism as an excuse, as someone who does have autism, not only using your autism is a pathetic one but it makes those who do have autism and is innocent give a bad name. I’m very sorry that you had to go through all of that Chris. Ever since I found your channel a while back, I’ve been enjoying everything that you had uploaded. The video are not only entertaining, but they would give me a history lesson about the various steam engines that are in the UK. I hope everything goes well for you in 2020 and stay strong.
I can relate to a lot of what you've said Chris. The internet really is a mine field and I don't think people fully appreciate the effort that goes into creating content for it. I'm a photographer and have sadly found people using my work without my permission on a number of occasions. They also had no idea what they were doing was wrong.... I've also had people on social media try to belittle me over daft things like, my decision to watermark my images and my decision to call my self a "professional"...it's my job and I make money from it so I think I'm entitled to call myself one!. I've also been accused of begging for displaying that I have a Patreon account. "You're a professional photographer why do you need to beg for money?". Sadly things are rarely free and running a website and trying to arrange visits to heritage railways cost money. If I want to make regular content for my site then that's going to cost money. I don't think having a virtual tip jar is rude or begging! People on social media who clearly display their affiliations with railways need to understand that they are acting as an ambassador for those lines. I've also had several run ins with people from heritage railways and as a result I've decided not to bother supporting those lines. Hopefully the positive responses to this video help put your mind at ease. The internet can be a dodgy place but there is also a lot of good people on it who appreciate the efforts you and other creators go to.
I understand completely Chris, I have gone through it myself with videos I shot of Big Boy 4014, another RUclipsr have asked me if they could use my video for a compilation video and I said it was fine and he credited me and that was cool, however I hate it when people have posted my work without crediting me, but I'm thankful for people that gives me a heads up, so I completely get it and understand your frustration, but I do hope and wish you the best for anything you do
Not quite sure how to put this, but here goes... I don't blame you having to come to this (giving the unfortunate events on Facebook back in November). But at the end of the day, it's your call what you wish to do; just try not to feel put off by anything bad, and have your own health (physically and mentally) suffer as a result. While I admit that I should get myself copies of the SLIP series in the future, you still have my respect and appreciation; not just of the wonderful work you and your fellow cameramen do, but for being one of the best people I know of, whether on the railways or not (having met you quite a few times on the former, of course). Hope you will draw comfort in knowing, that we're all here to help and support you in any way possible. Again, thank you for everything you do; not just for me, but for everybody. We won't stop being awesome. Neither should you.
Being a Yank and fan of British steam, to me you have the most interesting train videos on YT. The platform needs to improve its dealing with content providers, especially great ones like yourself. Hope you find a way to continue doing what you love.
I'm not officialy on the Autism spectrum, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm mild AS. Hell, I used to go to a boarding school (which I loved!) that was AS central. But I'm sure that shouldn't give anyone a pass to bugger about with copyright. Keep on keeping on, you'd be so missed if you left us. You're a great bloke. And a fellow Yorkie.....
Chris, A really affecting commentary. Not sure what else to say other than I wholeheartedly support you in your video work, which is informative and insightful. You are brilliant at what you do! Your last few words are significant (15:22-15-32), that your videos are a welcome escapism from the sh*t of everyday life. It is for me. And I thank you for that. I hope you keep making more videos and find a way around the copyright/pirating problem. Please don't give up! If I can support you in making these videos, I will. All the best. -Phil C
Chris I would like to thank you for all the content you put out on RUclips and dvd. As a RUclipsr I know it can be very hard to carry on sometimes. Just shows the problems of automation.
Very interesting video. There are some people out there who are really disgusting towards contributors. My daughter runs a blog and recently found that a "lifestyle coach" had taken one of her posts and passed it off as her own, even going as far as removing content which credited my daughter. Fortunately she was able to prove it was hers and got it removed, but initially only partly.Keep up the good work and don't let the pathetic keyboard warriors get you down.
I'm really sorry to hear that this has been so rough for you. In the Trainz Circle, both Sodor Island 3D and Wild Nor Wester 3D got taken down for very similar reason, severely limiting the amount of Thomas Content for Trainz. Hope things end up better for you in the long run.
Honestly this is so sad, I've met you at the churnet valley last year, and that made may day, to hear this is just disgusting to say the least. What happening to the Data protection act?! It's hard to track them down but if they can be why isn't action being taken. I'm struggling to say much out of sheer upset, you keep what your doing Chris as it has a real positive impact on us who truly value your work. George As a side point the music was very relaxing and Austerity No.66 at chaewater, never knew it was thete recently as it had the merry-go-rounds.

To see you go from youtube would be a MASSIVE shame, but just know you have the support of all of us from the Bodmin and Wenford
please , a beer festival this year
That's very kind of you, thankyou.
I'll keep your testimonies for support in mind. I still need to get round to the Beatties...
Chris Eden-Green Don't mention it, just do what you feel is right. And that would be pretty awesome, they're my favourite loco's :)
Take care my friend,
Bruce
I wish I could do more than just give this comment a thumbs up. This is a truly amazing comment.
As someone from the US who has a passion for British steam I hope this piracy stops. Piracy is called piracy for a reason, as it is theft. Chris, you do a great job and it really is a shame theft is occuring to you.
So, when you were a teenager and recorded songs off the radio onto your cassette recorder, were you a thief ?
Unfortunately, the internet is the Wild West of the world. Any kind of shit can go down without notice.
@@absinthefandubs9130 tbh I meant the internet in general.

This is Very Sad. On this Matter I can Feel This. Chris Eden Green You Work is Great , I've hope that 2020 Get Better.
So, thanks man, hope things don’t turn for the worst.

can i say, when ive had a bit of a bad day, i usually sit down, turn on my laptop, go on youtube and sit back and watch the old slips, sole slips, TTNS, and Gauge the issue. its upsetting that people will do this, and how Facebook and RUclips's automated features dont really help content creators. i have had something similar happen to me in the past and i lost out big time when something of mine was taken from me and copied. from that, i can understand where you are coming from with this chris and i would like to say thank you for bringing me a smile with your content and tell the lads they do some cracking filming. may i say that many of us from The CCLR (Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway) find joy and smile at your videos, some times we are even amazed by some surviving classes we never knew existed. you have our support chris...Always.
Here are my few words of honest encouragement and appreciation of you.
Sorry to hear about this Chris I have loved slips
You present them as such through your excellent camera work and factual narration
I may be going off on a tangent, but that's because I love the content you put out, and I hate to hear that this is happening to you.
Never let any of those horrible people get you down. You're great and that will never change
Take a rest, you more than earned it.
I'm fairly new to what you've been doing here (subbed for about a year) and do appreciate the effort you refer to, with filming a particular engine, at a particular time, ect. And all the other effort in general of coarse. :-)
RUclips is way better then facebook, but RUclips still isn't anywhere near perfect.
All the best Chris, happy new year! (I hope)
Cya soon!

Indeed I found 2 of my own videos USA tank on that certain page as well... My reports also ended in the same automated message.
Someone: *steals people's copyrighted material*
Facebook: *nothing happens*
Me: *makes a meme mocking the Nazis in a group*
Facebook: *bans the meme within hours*
Facebook really has its priorities mixed up, it is quick to ban memes that mock Nazis but refuses to act when people's material are being stolen.
Because only one of these will cause offence to their advertisers. Though seriously, I hope that's not the actual case.
I just love your videos! As I am in America I find all the detailed information you provide on each loco you cover fascinating. Keep up the good work!
I think we can all agree that we make a joint effort to get rid of these people causing all this grief. Like Chris said, take action when you see pirated content.

That’s just disgusting!
Anyone know what happened to Simon Paul? Did he appeal the false suspension?
I'm sorry what you're going through. Thanks for what you do and please don't stop doing what you really enjoy doing. LJL
I am sorry to hear about what you are going through and I hope get your problem sorted out it is not people can't get away
I’m so glad that Chris did win in the end, he has (in my opinion) a one-of-a-kind RUclips channel, but a video like this makes us realise how little power some people truly have.
I would hate to see this channel go away. I am an American but your channel gave me a newfound interest in steam in the UK.

Stay awesome,
Nate
Would be a damn shame if you quit, your voiceover and filming styles are great and the general quality is really good!
Keep on steaming keep on dreaming. From one Chris to another love your work & I hope life gets better for you.
Very sad about all of this Chris I’m surprised you sad “Fuck” honestly but I understand your pain I do appreciate your amazing work thankyou so much
realSponge _o
I wish there something more we could do
I'm surprised he only said it once!!
Sorry to hear about this situation Chris - whatever comes of it, I hope you do what is best by yourself
I really don't know what to say.
Except that I'm sorry you're going through all this.
And I understand the feeling of having difficulty managing an extra job in addition to your film stuff; manufacturing is my currently occupation, and it can be stressful at times. (Mercifully, my current job is relatively low on stress.)
And I agree with you about how awful a place the internet is.
Also, I am delighted to hear that you are on the Autism spectrum, as I am too. (Along with many of my relatives, and my fiance.)
And, as you probably know from my tweet, my overseas deliveries have all successfully made it here to the United States. I am happy to support you and your work. It's been especially fun to watch your videos post-my UK Trip, as I can see places and say "I've been there!"
Again, I'm sorry for what you're going through, and hope things can get better.
Thank you. I am happy to be able to watch one of the greatest railway channels from the USA
Sorry to hear about this Chris hope you are okay you sound like a top bloke who has a passion about steam trains
Sad to hear the troubles, hope things get better. Really enjoyed the footage of trains in the background by the way.
Wait your on the spectrum too that’s awesome
From the Netherlands,
Sander Boom
So thank you for the site and please keep up the good, no excellent work.
well... I feel ya. You've been working hard and it's a horrible feeling when your hard work is taken for granted. All I can say is don't lose heart.
Sorry to hear your troubles but keep battling on PLEASE.
Sorry to hear this Chris, I love watching your video's on your channel. Also you do great work making them, so that us can enjoy the beauty of steam locomotives.
Chris, you do incredible work here and it is very sad to hear about the state of things.
I understand completely Chris, I have gone through it myself with videos I shot of Big Boy 4014, another RUclipsr have asked me if they could use my video for a compilation video and I said it was fine and he credited me and that was cool, however I hate it when people have posted my work without crediting me, but I'm thankful for people that gives me a heads up, so I completely get it and understand your frustration, but I do hope and wish you the best for anything you do
Same thing as Gumi. You got support from guys in the US.
No cris you dont ever stop being awesome
-Phil C
This is such a heart felt video. Chris I love the content that you make. Thank you for all the content you make it is amazing
Please keep up the good work! I love the content you create. I’m sure I’m not alone in this opinion.
Here's a question, has things improved since this video?
Chris I would like to thank you for all the content you put out on RUclips and dvd. As a RUclipsr I know it can be very hard to carry on sometimes. Just shows the problems of automation.
Hang in there Mr Green. Your American audience loves your work!
George
As a side point the music was very relaxing and Austerity No.66 at chaewater, never knew it was thete recently as it had the merry-go-rounds.
Just thank you for the interesting videos.
