- You can do programming on your Android phone by using Termux! This is a terminal emulator / lite linux distribution with a package manager. In this video I show how you can set up Python, NodeJS, and even Spacemacs and run code and a web server natively on your phone!

Wait. WHAT?! I thought those things were only for looking at cat pictures! Seriously, though. It is always beyond me how we don't take more advantage of the power we carry around it our pockets. These machines are so much more powerful than the first computers I had. Sadly, in many ways, the one that I carry around (cough, cough, *phone) is also so walled off that a lot of things are either impossible, or incredibly hard to do with it. Keep'm coming :)
There are many ways to get past those Walls but it's illegal me personally use termux for reasons such as IP tracing but suggest you find a video on re programming
in pen testing this is really popular
it's used heavily just that you are not aware of it
Really happy for you returning Jack, keep up the good work!
great intro, despite being familiar with termux, I learned couple of things from your video. I use a tablet and bt keyboard which serve me well. Thanks and keep it up!
This is the best thing ever holy moly
When you don't have access to laptop on the go and inner coder rises👍
Really amazing. Very minimalistic and to the point. Very powerful. Thanks
Nice video! I used termux as my c programming environment in school, but did not try all those fancy extras. One thing to note is that by now, termux from the playstore is not an up to date version, it should be installed via fdroid. Personally, I prefer Unexpected Keyboard to Hackers Keyboard, it is quite unconventional for a mobile phone keyboard but really innovative and I at least feel faster with it.
it is the best
Very useful, helpful, and well explained! I was recently wondering if this is possible.
Awesome bro
you should try doing the same video but with phone connected to monitor + keyboard and mouse. the android desktop experience could replace laptops for most people
Thx bro
I subscribed abd liked😄
I would love a more in depth tutorial for the 3d display you're showing please
I was in hospital and bed-ridden with only my mobile phone
I installed termux and then node and finally tiddlywiki
and started building a "second brain" of my reading
since coming out of the hospital
it has grown like topsy.
That's fantastic. With things like this some times people with too narrow a worldview ask "but why do this and why not just use X???" and I like pointing to situations like yours.

I chose termux/node.ja/tiddlywiki because it was easy to do for me.
I am a retired mathematics teacher so was familiar Linux.
I also used the F-droid termux as it is updated and the Google Play store one hasn't been updated for years.
I'm not going to pretend I know what's going on. Very interesting.
Wow running termux on android is a lot closer to desktop linux than Ubuntu touch.
This can be useful for poor countries where people can afford android tablets, and they can use their tablets as a development environment for learning. Great content!
Been trying to install bardapi on termux for two days... Gonna try this
Termux is a great app ...
An idea was there in my head for a while ...
But I am just a beginner in programming.
The Idea was the that to create app
Most likely a react base idle to run python, java and other stuff remotely like jupyter notebook but with more better UI like pycharm or eclipse.. in this virtual-environment's..
nice idea.. i guess a javac will also be available.. but installing packages from some obscure sources.. idk
How do I install space macs?
I use Poetry as my package manager and build environment on PC to avoid the numerous dependency headaches associated with pip. (Note that this requires an older version of Python 3 since the current version breaks it.) Anyone know offhand if I can run Poetry under Termux? On PC, Poetry gets installed with pip initially.
hello (if you hear any errors in writing, sorry, I'm Brazilian and I don't speak English well), I'm having a problem because nodejs is installed in version 13.0.0 but termux says that npm does not support this version of nodejs, and so I can't use it right, did anyone have this problem or know how to solve it?
I didn't have this problem exactly but stuff like this is common with node. Try using nvm and use it to select specific versions of node.
where is website? i can learn ?
But the most important question is can it hack you back in time?
I just searched for sandbox on android to test my js code.. but this is overkill. Although pretty neat
you have low expectations and standards it seems
Thanks I didn't think about it but I might be able to make some django app now. Or at least a mobile version.
I used my note 9 with linux on dex for 6 months as my main pc it was awesome. I could install i3gaps and spacemacs (gui version) and make django and clojure development, I couldn't tell the difference between this and my regular pc.
I'm interested in convergence so if you got some more stuff like that ;)
I wonder what a mobile version of i3 would look like 🤔
@@JackofSome Well it was inside linux on dex which is (was in fact, samsung stopped it to my great discontent) basically a linux container inside samsung dex and it looked just as great as on my pc, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Run $ npm install yarn && yarn add global code-server
Now you have vscode on Android
