I've never noticed... because I totally believed that cars behind were much faster due to DRS until now.
But you are right; there are many posts on different threads.
The reason I didn't notice may be because my AI difficulty is set to 90... or maybe because I never tried setups from the AI (I always copy and use setups from the time trial leaderboard). I don't have enough knowledge as you do to analyze due to my lack of experience. I wished I were good enough to share the thought...
