Fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for Cutthroat in the Pacific Northwest has been a passion of mine for the last 40 years. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the great Pacific Northwest to include fly fishing in Alaska, fly fishing in Washington, fly fishing in Oregon, fly fishing in Idaho and fly fishing in Montana. I generally will fly fish and practice catch and release when fly fishing for trout, but I have been known to catch and cook during camping trips to many of my favorite fishing spots. I love to fly fish lakes in the higher elevation, though I have a few lowland lakes that are fly fishing only that are also on my most favorite list. I have a ton experience fly fishing rivers for trout and always enjoy discovering new rivers to fly fishing in and around the greater Pacific Northwest. I am also an accomplished at casting a fly rod - whether it is fly fishing casting for distance, fly fishing casting for accuracy, the double haul, roll cast, tower cast and many more fly fishing casting techniques - I can show you the basics when it comes to casting a fly rod. I also will cover many topics that relate to getting started with fly fishing. From your basic fly fishing setups, flies and fly boxes - we cover all the fly fishing needs for beginners. Thanks for taking the time to tune into FlyFishDan and I hope you consider subscribing to my fly fishing channel. Cheers and FISH-ON!!!

need a way to mount a trolling motor, that would be a great addition
That's a sweet looking little inflatable kayak! Awesome video as always! Fish On Dan!
Thanks Travis - so far so good! I have found a new passion for sure - kayak fishing really opens up a lot of different places to fly fish. Looking forward to doing more for sure - just need to get the courage to take it down a river!
Nice trek, fish on Dan

Ha! You watched to the very end :)). I appreciate that! Cheers!
Awesome stuff! Wanted to see Mark cook up that bugolgi though
It was super yummy, it was dark when we got back to the parking lot so unfortunately I couldn’t capture the deliciousness on film. :))
Man, I didn't know I could get into nice sized trout here in eastern Washington. I'm just getting into trout fishing and it would be nice to not have to drive 2.5 hours outside the Tri Cities to get to them. I actually just went fly fishing for the first time yesterday, too. It was SO much fun! Even though I didn't know what the hell I was doing. Lol
Welcome to the sport Just Steve! You're gonna love it! :)) I have many videos highlighting how to fly fish and tactics - feel free to look around. Cheers!
YES 🙌
Yes indeed! FISH-ON Casey!
Dan - I love your videos. I am headed back to this lake after 30 plus years of not going. My oldest son is joining me and I am so looking forward to it. Are you willing to share some guidance through a pm? I would love a refresher and a chance to connect. We might be neighbors (relatively speaking). Mahalo - david
Thank you! Happy to hear that you are going back after such a long time. I too started fishing this particular lake back in 1987. Absolutely, on my channel page under the about tab you’ll find my email. Cheers!
If you don't mind my asking another question? Just before your Desert lake video (above), there was another lake video where your intro included a inflatable kayak, much like your fishing in today's video. Only, in that previous video you had stated the inflatable kayak was on loan, thanks to a subscriber offering for you to barrow it. You then purchased the exact Kayak?
Hello Wayne - it's still the same kayak on loaner...I wanted to use it a few times to make sure it will be a good fit before I consider taking any next steps. So far so good!
Your group outing felt like a fly club get together.......was it? I think I recognize the fellow with the fish eye lens, from a fishing website I frequent. If who I think, he produces cinema quality video's.
It wasn’t a club, but a group of friends who like to get together at least once a year and fly fish. Yes - his name is Mark and runs a RUclips channel called the Fly Fishing Film Maker - very cinematic vids. Thanks for taking the time to watch Wayne - I do appreciate it! Cheers!
Cool thing you did by plugging Marks tube channel. I am only curious when asking the following does your compassion for fly fishing include being a member of a fly club?
Thank you Wayne! I have never been part of a fly fishing club...I am certainly not against doing so...just haven't really thought about it in all these years of fly fishing. I appreciate you taking the time to watch - Cheers!
What length paddle are you using? Thanks!
Hello! I have a paddle from AG that is completely adjustable in length...since I am tall, it's adjusted all the way out. But there is more than 12" of adjustability. Cheers!
@@FlyFishDan Thanks! I was looking at the same one.
How do you cast a heavy fly on your 3wt? I’ve tried to cast a larger fly on my 5 wt and it’s very difficult, kinda try to cast a sinker. Do you have a WF line on your 3wt? I use WF line on my 5wt. Thanks.
I have a weight forward 3 weight line with shooting head (RIO Gold Slick Cast line) and a 9’ fly rod and I water load when casting. Hope that helps!
