Albert Lee is in a class by himself....Vince knows he's in the presence of greatness. Putting them together on the same stage can't be beat, unless you add James Burton to the mix.
Well, I found this video by accident! Glad I did. I got to meet Vince in Jan 2000 at the Phoenix Open, along with Amy Grant, before they got married in Mar 2000. They both signed a visor for me, and while he was doing that, I told him I was a country musician and knew he collected Martin AG's. Told him I had a vintage D-18, and he looked up quick, and said, ya wanna sell it? I said nah, it was my first guitar that my parents bought me. He smiled and said, I don't blame you. BOTH are a Class Act. And as for Albert, one of the true unheralded guitarists of all time, and co-wrote Skaggs' Country Boy! I have front row tickets to see Albert and Jeremy Clyde (of Chad & Jeremy duo days) in early Aug, at the MIM here in PHX. Can't wait. OH and by the way, that guy in the back with his signature white hat is no slouch on the fiddle either, that's Mark O'Connor. Vince has his own style too, as I could hear a song and say, that's Vince playing that lead. SO melodic.
He sorta didn’t pay his dues. He was in Pure Prairie League at 19. However he was THAT good that he was able to do that. Why would anyone hate on someone like Vince who naturally has real talent.
Great collaboration of musicians. Harry Stinson on drums...now with Marty Stuart, Albert Lee, Vince Gill..and the bass just keeps the bottom line rollin. Rockin video
Albert, no words, and Vince can get it with the best. Used to see vince with a bluegrass band in Okla CIty, Mountain Smoke, when he was a 18 or so......
Two of the premiere graduates of the James Burton School of Design. Loved this song from the jump when it came out in the 80's. Couple of sweet-pickin' b-bendin' mofos putting on a clinic here.
Two of the best and two of my favorites, no doubt. But I don’t think Gill has a b-bender on his Tele. Not sure about Lee -- looks like he may have one, but the camera doesn’t stay on him long enough for me to tell for sure. Those guys are so good at string-bending right on the fretboard that they really don’t need it. What a performance.
What a nice performance. This is what you listen to in the cab of the Kenwoth at 4 AM, after the beer and reefer put a nice edge on your Amphetamine buzz, and you are 60 miles out of New York, rolling up the New Jersey turnpike at 80 miles an hour....
I don't like nasty comments - life is too short. I watched Albert a few weeks ago in Aberdeen, Scotland in a small venue. He is not too proud to play for the people for a modest fee. As usual, he was magnificent, as were Hogan's Heroes. By the way, who is Jessi Perkins? If she wants to hear a guitar monster, she should listen to Tommy Emmanuel, one of the greatest players on the planet. Love to all, Big Brian.
Albert Lee!!! does anyone know the setup on his tele!!!!!,, I know Vinve is stockish and I love his tone. I have a 66 I'm redoing and love Vince and Alberts tone.... SouthCentralTennessee...
A great performance by both Vince and Albert...A little duelling guitar going on there. Both men are masters but methinks Albert edged Vince out a tad in the picking department. Ha ha. Also Albert has a great voice too..didn't see him sing in this one but maybe I missed it.
Pretty funny that someone on this thread (Jessi Perkins) claims that Vince Gill never paid his dues, and claims to know him well, know less. She obviously doesn’t know him well enough to be aware of all of the people and bands he played for as a side man as he worked his way up. Even at the height of his fame, he never stopped paying his dues as a studio musician, often playing on obscure albums. Did it before he was famous, did it while he was famous, and he continues to do it today. Eric Clapton selected him for a prominent role at his Crossroads festivals, and he was invited to join Dire Straits at one point. Didn’t pay his dues... that’s just plain goofy and ignorant.
Well, Mark Knopfler thinks Vince is a Guitar God His words and he wanted Vince in Dire Straits before his solo thing took off. How many times have you see Vince Live? Just Asking?
On Albert's first solo, I get a kick out of Vince's "Wow!" before the verse. That's what I said, 'Wow!". Vince's opening solo was excellent. But, Albert was doing that freak-of-nature thing, playing his version of 32nd note triplet mu chords. Where'd that come from? He's old, and fresh?
Yeah old Handsome Harry was really handsome in those days -- what a great drummer and vocalist and fine man. Love seeing him on the Marty Stuart show every Saturday on RFD TV.
Well I lived in the South Bay Area of So Cal And I remember Vince playing his Martin on the Hermosa Beach pier for tips. in the 70's .Back then he was part of the South Bay 'Country Boys, with Emmylou, Rodney, Ricky Scaggs, Delbert, and others They would hang out at the Sweetwater club in Redondo Beach. I remember seeing Albert at Tower Records in Pasadena for a Laurel Canyon Ramblers in store gig.He was just waiting for the gig just like the rest of us. Sorry to hear Vince became a jerk
@altstrasse well, i'd bet he is using a b-bender in this one. check 2:10 or 3:45... but can be wrong. anyway, i agree about albert being an incredible chicken picker. bout guitars, i like his signature MM but tele is tele... it's "the guitar" for this kind of music, you know what i mean... that chicken like attack... yeah!!! long life to Albert, Vince and company. RIP Danny Gatton.
Glenn Worf. All of these guys on the American Music Shop are outstanding, most of them session players. I am sure there is much about him on the Internet.
Jessi Perkins, if I were you father I'd be kicking you sorry butt out into the street. These are guys who have paid their dues and have made modest fortunes, for example, Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs $15 and $20 million respectively, and these are God-fearing, humble, nice people who thank the Lord for everything with which he's blessed them. Compare that to Bill Clinton and Sean Penn, net worth $80 (additional $79 since he left office) and Sean Penn $200 million each, both are snide, disrespectful, arrogant, corrupt and immoral. But all four of these men pay taxes. What's with the fair share business? Isn't there a fair share the unemployed and the welfare mothers should have to pay?
Scott Murphy Evidently you know nothing much about Vince Gill. There have been many respected people who publicly praise Vince for his character as a man. "He's the kind of man you would hope your daughter would marry or your son would grown up to be" says Max D. Barnes who with Vince co- wrote "Look At Us" , which the CMA names 1992 song of the year. ( from the liner of album "Souvenirs". That is one of many examples of people who talk about Vince Gill. Most recent you would find in an article in Rolling Stone about Vince for the review at CMA 2014. You need to find the truth before you display your ignorance.
They don't pay their fair share while they relax in their wasteful lifestyle and people are starving. That is wrong and they should have their wealth taken and given to those in need. Got it jerk! Jessi
I've got news for you: Albert Lee was responsible for much of Mr Knoflers success. I know Vince fairly well. Don't like the man; he is in one word, arrogant. A "silver spooned" kid with talent. Married into a fortune on top of that as his wife comes from a very wealthy family. He hasn't paid his dues, simple as that. I have zero respect for him. Albert, on the other hand, is a magnificent "MAN". A guitar players "Guitar Player". Takes no credit, is so kind, humble, and respectful of his fans.
jessi , what you bin smokin girl, this guy is the man , sounds like your boyfreind got some envy issues you both have, dont trash talk,n someone for been more succesful than you .dont make you a nice person, be humble
Albert Lee is in a class by himself....Vince knows he's in the presence of greatness. Putting them together on the same stage can't be beat, unless you add James Burton to the mix.
I'd forgotten just how good Gill sounded.
This video confirms, beyond all doubt, that these two country boys sure can play!
I met Albert a couple of years ago while he was playing a gig with Sonny Landreth,A nicer guy you will not find..And what a guitar player!!!!!
I had a chance to meet him, too, and agree with your assessment. Humble and affable.
Sonny as well
Well, I found this video by accident! Glad I did. I got to meet Vince in Jan 2000 at the Phoenix Open, along with Amy Grant, before they got married in Mar 2000. Vince Gill is the best Country guitarist of all times in my opinion. Tasteful chops, incredible musical talent with a killer Tele-tone

@@wesleybullock814 jerry Reed
Vince's million dollar guitar sound is just so good.
Thank you so much for sharing this 🎉
Untouchable : Simply the best !!!!
What a killer Jam..2 Legends
yes, guitar heaven, not to mention the fiddler and the drummer, thanks!!
The greatest battle of a Brit v American since 1776!! 😊
2 of the all time greats on guitar...awesome!
Albert is one of the best B-bender telecaster players IMHO. He's just... perfect.
Love Vince's playing and tune, too.
Thaks for posting the footage.
No B-bender here, though.
@@benrosow7997 Check from 2.08 to 2.15. You can see Albert push on the guitar and hear the bender working.
@@laurieharper1526 And you can clearly see the roller behind the bridge.
@@benrosow7997 He's got a few tele's and one is a specially built B bender . Its the one he's playing here!!
one of the best of all time country singers and what a guitarist too - Vince Gill
albert is good too ,,,,,,,,,,,
2 Experten am Werk......!!!!!!! Fantastisch!!!!
Beyond brilliant! in all ways!!
Some of the best video camerawork on the guitar solos between these two.
Just about every video Albert plays in, you see the other axemen by his side hearing him, smiling and looking back in awe.
He sorta didn’t pay his dues. He was in Pure Prairie League at 19. However he was THAT good that he was able to do that. Why would anyone hate on someone like Vince who naturally has real talent.
WOW! Great performance! And Vince was so young & good looking here! (He's still got it!)
Mark O'Connor may be one of the top ten greatest musicians alive on the planet at the moment
Great collaboration of musicians. Harry Stinson on drums...now with Marty Stuart, Albert Lee, Vince Gill..and the bass just keeps the bottom line rollin. Rockin video
Yeah- who is that on bass? I recognized Harry.
Don't forget about the legendary Mark O'Connor in fiddle
Glenn Worf on the bass. A stalwart of the Mark Knopfler band plus thousands of Nashville session cuts.
Damn son, that's some fine tele-twang!
Hell folks, it don't get no better than this....
great footage.
Vince can really lay it down..Of course so can Albert
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo AWESOME!
Albert, no words, and Vince can get it with the best. Used to see vince with a bluegrass band in Okla CIty, Mountain Smoke, when he was a 18 or so......
When you think of Vince Gill you don't really think of him being a solist but he did a plenty credible job here on this song.
This was a single off Vince Gill's 1991 album Pocket Full of Gold. Vince Gill co-wrote the song with Reed Neilsen.
Two of the premiere graduates of the James Burton School of Design. Loved this song from the jump when it came out in the 80's. Couple of sweet-pickin' b-bendin' mofos putting on a clinic here.

Albert has a B-Bender - the clue is the position of the strap button.
al speed it actually came out in 91'
I kept waitin for Mark comin with a fiddle break!! great stuff though.
Wonderful wonderful ...

thats one incredible groooove
This is only fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!
AWESOME !!!
this was such a great show. The Nashville Network could have been so much better with more shows like that.

Back when Albert Lee still had a good guitar sound. He should have never stopped playing Teles...
He evolved.
Agreed. I find he uses too much chorus these days. Still a wonderful player, though.
Don’t get any better than those two
yes vince did record it! listen to them do tiger rag!
i like this
I haves this song CD. hi vince great riff play tere wooooooow
Kick ass tele playin
I am not a big Vince Gill fan but he really kicks ass with this venerable old tune.

Did Vince ever record this song. Only have heard it live on RUclips. This is the best version though with Albert and Vince jamming
Yes he did it was off his CD Pocket Full of Gold

Albert: Kick that bloody Musicman! and get back to that tele with the B bender !! great stuff!!!!

Ten out of ten, Heather, but one thing you got wrong: Vince Gill sings like an angel. Albert plays like one.
Albert Lee great great great,Vince isn't too bad either

amazing eh, and Albert so restrained!

Well, Mark Knopfler thinks Vince is a Guitar God His words and he wanted Vince in Dire Straits before his solo thing took off. How many times have you see Vince Live? Just Asking?
is this from the early/mid 90's? (thanks for posting - love the Vince & guest "live" jams!
Leaner Vince Gill
Quite agree

harry's hair is just a bit shorter, but his back beat is still as rock solid as always!
Yeah old Handsome Harry was really handsome in those days -- what a great drummer and vocalist and fine man. Love seeing him on the Marty Stuart show every Saturday on RFD TV.
Albert Lee rips, and Vince Gill ain't no slouch either.
That was what he played then; this is before the Musicman model came out. By the time that came out, his hair was already grey.
TWANG!!@@@@@@!!!!
That's handsome harry on the drums

Jessi, just go away! Vince is a fine player...
Your BF might be a famous Guitarist, but Vince and Albert would clean his clock.
I found Telecaster heaven !!!
i love this song, only because it has my name in it. well its also great music, but mainly cause my name is eliza jane.
Why don't you call me, Eliza Jane?
Note that Albert picks up the Tele for this one. LOL

His Music Man doesn't have a B-Bender.
That Jerry Seinfeld is sure a great singer and guitar player too.
Finger of God plankitude times two! Or is it 4 times 2. Yessiree that's the spot.
Anybody knows what year is the tele he's plaing? '64? '68?
June Moris that is his 53' I believe
Oh yes so I guess that's the one he always plays. Do you know if there's a big difference with a '52?

the thumbs down have their speakers unplugged ....
No, it´s probably because Albert isn´t wearing his green and yellow shirt :D
Is that Marty Stuart's drummer?
Yes. He's played with a ton of stars. I've played several gigs with him. Great guy.
AL is the real guitar player here, don't think much of the other bloke
Who is the bass player?
Glenn Worf. All of these guys on the American Music Shop are outstanding, most of them session players. I am sure there is much about him on the Internet.

They don't pay their fair share while they relax in their wasteful lifestyle and people are starving. That is wrong and they should have their wealth taken and given to those in need. Got it jerk! Jessi
