If you’re sick of buying, toting around, and throwing away those small green single-use propane bottles, we have a solution for you. The Gas Growler by Ignik is more economical, environmentally friendly, and an overall easier propane system for any of your small propane appliances. The Gas Growler holds 13 pounds or about 1.5 gallons of propane which equates to 5 small green propane bottles. At the current propane price, it was just over $5 to fill. That’s about what it costs for one small green propane bottle. Your wallet will thank you but so will the environment.
Instead of throwing out your single-use propane bottles after use, you can ditch that mentality altogether and get your Ignik Gas Growler filled wherever you get a normal 20-pound bottle filled. We usually head to our local hardware store but often times gas stations and RV stores work well too.
The Gas Growler is a great size and easier to pack than a 20-pound propane bottle which would be a bit excessive for a lot of our camping adventures. It comes with a super nice carrying case that not only protects the bottle, it also protects wherever you are storing your Gas Growler for transport. It’s padded and made with a high-quality and durable material. The case has two carrying handles and Molle webbing if you want to tie it down or add accessories to it. You can leave the Gas Growler inside the case even when you’re hooked into your appliance and it comes with a four-foot-long hose. What’s really neat is that if you just leave the hose off, you can hook in any normal-sized propane appliances.
We’re really psyched about this product because over time, we knew we were throwing a lot of single-use green bottles away. Especially in Mexico, their waste system is not as developed as it is in the states. Trash is still trash no matter where you are but in Mexico, trash is usually not disposed of properly and can easily end up in the ocean. With the Gas Growler, it’s easy to pack, way more economical, and keeps unnecessary waste from our landfills (US) and the land/ocean (MX). If you’re interested in purchasing the Ignik Gas Growler, doing so using our provided link supports us as we get a small kickback from your purchase. We appreciate the support!

You can buy an adapter to refill the horrible green bottles off of a 20 lb tank which most people have. If it’s too dangerous for someone they shouldn’t be alone outdoors…
It's actually not recommended to refill the little green bottles. They are built for one time use. They will likely not withstand several refillings so ultimately will end up in the landfill. www.phmsa.dot.gov/regulatory-compliance/phmsa-guidance/stop-never-refill-1-lb-propane-bottles-0
But by all means, you do what works well for you. This is a great alternative for folks who want to avoid the situation altogether.
We just bought one from Bass Pro and took it to Tractor Supply to have it filled. They tried three separate times, but it would not fill with propane. We took it back to Bass Pro and exchanged it for a different tank and tried to fill this one at a Pilot. They were also unsuccessful. They seem unfillable.
We have never had this issue however I did a quick search and it looks like a ton of people are complaining of this issue! Sounds like the overflow protection valve is getting stuck and it sounds like a widespread issue. Hopefully Ignik can get this sorted soon!?!
@AdventureRig I also think it is the overflow protection valve. I read on a troubleshooting page to try filling it using the hose it comes with and only cracking the valve a tiny bit so it trickles in slowly. We ended up going to Ace Hardware and getting their 5lb tank and they filled it on site. It was also half the price of the Ignik.
nice #ignik info
Thanks!
No regulator on gas line? So how do you attach it to a Blackstone 22?
This is straight from Ignik's website: DO I NEED A SPECIAL REGULATOR OR FILTER TO USE MY GAS GROWLER WITH MY STOVE OR HEATER?
Not usually. Generally your stove or heater has a regulator that is either high or low pressure, and this is located either in-line or at the gas flow controller. We only know of one manufacturer who recommends adding a filter, and they sell a filter for their devices. Consult your heater manufacturer for their recommendation (if you use our 2-in-1 heater stove, you don’t need anything else!)
That’s really cool. Thanks!
It's awesome!
Goes with the bikes nice lol
ha!
@@AdventureRig I wish this didn't cost $130, even with my REI membership 10 percent cash back that's still a lot
Can I store this inside the vehicle?
Yeah. Just make sure it's all the way off.
if only they were in stock anywhere!!!
Story of our life it seems.
They are...
At Bass pro
What is happening with the Closed Captions and transcript? They seriously don't match up with the video, not at all. Completely different, please check it. The captions/transcript have nothing to do with the video.
Sorry those are automatically generated by RUclips.
Hello, do you need an adapter tu use it with the kuchoma?
Nope, the hose that comes with the Ignik connects directly into the Kuchoma stove (or any other camp stove).
Any issues refilling it? I seen a lot of Amazon reviews saying they couldn’t find anyone to refill it
We've never had an issue. Anyone that could fill a normal 20# for a grill has been able to refill ours.
@@AdventureRig good deal, thank you
It’s just a 1 gal tank , they’re half the price at Ace
You’ll also need to get a hose with an adapter on it so you can connect to items that normally take a green bottle.
Work on buddy heaters?
I’ve not tried it.
Yes it does if you get that same adapter hose. There’s a little adapter hose that I think is under $20 that you can buy to connect small propane devices to larger tanks. I have the flame king 5 pound propane bottle, which is basically the same thing as the ignik one and Ive used it on my buddy heater often.
Thanks for your input on that!
How do you refill the Ignik tank?
Anywhere they fill propane tanks can do it.
Thanks great
Thanks for watching.
What does one of those little bad boys cost?
$150
Niiiice
Thanks for watching.
Don't worry your grill needs to be connected to a fuel source before you can burn that food *edit: it is connected I just didn’t see it.*
Yes, it's connected to the growler....
@@AdventureRig it is? I couldn’t resist giving y’all a little bit of a hard time haha it really is a great little product. I did enjoy the video.
@@Zachadiddle yeah the line coming off the grill is a small steel braided line that connects into the growler hose.
@@AdventureRig sure enough! I didn’t even notice that. I retract my statement, once again cool growler.
😂😂😂😂😂 I thought the same thing at first, but it is actually connected
What are the dimensions of the case?
Sorry I'm not sure. I could measure it but we're not around to do that. I would reach out to the company.

Ok so short of the cute bag and the hose. Why is this better than say a 5# Flame King bottle for 1/3 of the price? I like the bag idea but that is a hefty cost if its really the same thing. Thanks
You can purchase the bottle and hose for $100. Looks like the Flame King is $55 and then $15 for a hose. So if you don't need the carrying bag I think the Flame King is a better option to save money.
@@AdventureRig you can lay it down when you transport it? I thought it have to be up right
@@tannguyen291 it’s not recommended.
@@AdventureRig It is not recommended to lay down on its side, it should be kept upright at all times! The reason is because there is an emergency pressure release valve at the top. If you put it on its side, liquid fuel will be pressing up against the valve. In the highly unlikely event there is an overpressure situation in the tank, the valve will either not be able to vent leading to possibly the tank bursting, or liquid will spray from the valve, the liquid would instantly vaporize and that much vapor in a small area could potentially ignite. One of the huge benefits of the 5lb Ignik is that it’s small enough to fit upright and tucked away inside most areas of a rig set-up or vehicle, and the case makes it safe and easy to prop against other items so that it stays upright, or tie it down. It would be really helpful to our community if you would update the video with a small warning tag about the importance of transporting and storing full or nearly full propane tanks upright. Empty tanks could go in sideways, I suppose, but to keep it simple best to just keep them upright. Great product that pays for itself! I just ordered two of them (one for stove, one for heater/water heater)! Having two also reduces my anxiety about possibly running out!
@@AdventureRig If you lay down propane gas tanks you should not be making videos on propane. It is a flammable gas. You could blow up your vehicle or trailer or whatever you're storing the tanks in a laid down position. "We've done it and haven't blown up so far" isn't an acceptable answer.
is there an adapter to work with a Coleman stove?
You should contact them. I’m not sure off hand.
It works with it. depends what Coleman grill you have
@@WhatTheHeck1290 Thanks!
Why cannot this people just review product without this “environment friendly” nonsense. What it has to do with environment when you choose to burn 5 liter propane in 5 separate canisters or burn same 5 liter in single tank. First of all green canister gas is much cleaner and won’ clog your stove. Filling propane from those mama-papa locations is dirty and recommended to be used with costly hard to find filters. Also not everyone travels on bus and space is important. Moreover transporting this heavy 10 lbs canister In car trunk will make your car burn more gasoline then transporting 1.5 lbs green canister so what happened to “environment friendliness”. Let people choose what best fits their need and stop pushing this “environmentally friendly” or “non-friendly” degeneracy to people’s throats.
I don't think there is a single case for the small green canisters unfortunately. They are horrible for the environment and quite a bit more expensive vs just filling this up (so I guess you could go for the money saving argument if you want). But I do enjoy seeing how angry this is making you.
@Adventure Rig Alex A does make a point. Can't see how you could be making any good suggestions about environmental issues with what your hauling around and all the toys that go with it. Which by the way I love everything you have.
I live totally off grid with a Travel trailer and truck camper and that 1gallon canister would be useless. If I am going to use something that has to be refilled instead of discarded 5 gallon/20lb makes the most sense since you can trade them out or refill.
@@sad754yt Because we ride dirt bikes and drive a truck we can’t feel good about not filling the landfill with green metal bottles?
@Adventure Rig key words..feel good. Lord the gas and oil you use for all your toys and transportation plus all the emissions that they put out and your talking about green cans. Look I'm with you. 3/4 ton 6.6 liter gasser,4k lb TT and 2500lb TC but it really just comes down to the product is overpriced for what it does. It really does just look and seem a little strange for someone who lives the lifestyle you do to be making mention of environmentally friendly. Once again ..you live a great lifestyle. You have to see the irony in your video.
@@sad754yt I’m a crop duster as well. And yet still care about the environment.
