They used to be banned from certain venues and stuff because their crew was known for brawling, and robbing. And I think people started knowing them more for that than the music!

Not sure what year it was, but in the 90's they were to open for the Jungle Brothers at a club in South Carolina. We show up and the parking lot is empty. No one showed up to the show. Me and a friend pull around back and MOP is standing outside the tour bus. They come up to our car and inform us the show is cancelled. Billy goes back on the bus and comes out and gives us a bunch of cassingles and promo swag. They were incredibly cool and thanked us for coming out. I was already a fan but that cemented it.
...and it's funny now that I'm watching the episode that Billy is referencing his drinking back in the day because when I met him...he was LITTTTT lol

One of my biggest experiences in hip hop as a long time fan is watching these guys rapping some of their classics live in Senegal my country. It was a wonderful and almost unbelievable moment for me a 35yo man who was following these like forever. FIRST FAMILY FOR LIFE

When I was young around 1997, I couldn’t afford to buy CDs so I used to go to the local music store and listen to albums for free. I used to go in there and listen to Firing Squad so much that the store clerk got sick of it and banned me from coming there anymore. Today I own the vinyl and I can listen to it as much as I want. I’m never going to be too old for M.O.P, that’s for sure.
I visiting NYC back in 2011 and got to see MOP in a small venue with about maybe 50 people there, I was so hyped to see them it was unreal. I felt as though a lot of cats were taking it for granted being there but I’ll never forget that. I always described it as like a punk rock show but with Hip Hop, just unmatched energy 👊🏼
