This gate has got to be my favorite thing in my back yard. Trimming of the lumber before working with it is just to make sure they all are equal in width.
Good morning . I just recently watched your video I was intrigued by what you had bulit. I would like to have this system to be put in my yard and my son said he would do this for me. My son was trying to get these plans to build this gate system for me. But when he tried to click on your RUclips channel link to get them it said, "This Site Can't Be Reached ". I am very interested in getting them. Would you please give me a link my son could get these plans from you. I would appreciate it. Thank you.
great Video, i watch it over and over again , only thing i have a suggestion on would be the locking latch: eliminate it completely and have it lock from the inside maybe with a cross bar for a cleaner look outside? would that be even safer since there’s absolutely no access from the outside nor it brings attention that is an actual gate? other than that thank you for this video, PS update the links in the description please 🙏
Eliminating the locking latch so there's absolutely no access from outside the gate only makes things safer if you're the threat since it only affects your access. This kind of latch can still be locked from inside the gate, so it wouldn't pose any more of a safety threat than a locking doorknob would on an exterior door. When you eliminate either of these all you add is frustration not safety.
After Hurricane Sally, I replaced my gate, almost identical to your original. It's done, but I'm thinking there has to be a better solution. Mine opens out, going in the uphill direction,so you can imagine the lifting and tugging that I have to do. This design will allow the door to open inward and the clearance to the ground would increase, making the door to open vert easily. Heading back to Missouri for another load of furniture and tools and sometime in the future, this project is on the list. Thanks for sharing.
I liked the video and loved its content, but I'm sorry to have to say, but I must mention that I found the background music distracting and quite annoying. Other than that, thank you and great job!!
A great design and good build. However, I'm a bit confused. Shouldn't the diagonal braces, to stop the gate sagging, go in the opposite direction? I thought that they should point downwards towards the hinge side and not away.
Hope you replaced the rest of your fence and made it look that nice, seen some old boards with big gaps that small animals might be able to fit through it, plus it's not right when it takes a few hundred bucks more to make front curb appeal look nicer. Keeping those old ones and replacing ones that might need it. Fencing isn't made to last at all. 10 to 15 years and that's on high priced stuff that's treated lumber not to rot. Yeah right. My wall of 3 1/2 by 5 inches just running along driveway looked good and just fell apart. Rotted from inside out. I even predrilled holes for big nails wouldn't spilt wood and was worth it, now have those big spikes under my porch as I'm pulled out and threw wood away while having repairs done on house, said throw that in dumpster, I did and any big spikes, I kept since there costly back then. Just bottom layer in ground but spikes sticking out that I pull out with a wiggle. Very nice fence and heavy duty to last, that's for sure. Do it right the 1st time and no issues later on other than paint/stain and maybe might need new wheels over time if not used often, can freeze up from weather over time. Nothing made to last unless you made it yourself for the most part.

@@nellieprentice2440 hi Nellie. Just send me an email at rhwoodshop@gmail.com and we will discuss it. Thank You!!!
@@rhwoodshopHi, I have also emailed you to request for the plans if you wouldn't mind emailing them to me that would be great! Thank you
As far as structural and engineering goes this video takes the cake! Precise work with great information and mindful building!
That's fantastic! great build and great instruction. I love it!
Thanks James! Means a lot coming from you. I hope your gate build goes well too
Nice craftsmanship, I liked all the bracing, and detail in getting the angles to fit nice and snug.
Never had my Gates stolen, didn't know that was a thing..... Lol.
Great work bud 👍👍🍺
Lake Havasu-
DesertWoodworking.
🤣 well I just meant it will be harder for thieves to gain access into my gate since no hardware is visible.
How do you get these plans?? The links don’t work and store website not active
That is gorgeous!! Great work!!
A NATION OF COWARDS Thank You!!! I really appreciate that.

Awesome! Glad I could help you out. Send me some pics. I would love to see it.
Amazing video I was going to build my gates folding outwards but after watching your awesome design I will do similar to you
Very timely! I'm starting on a bifold fence gate today!
Darren Bates Very cool Darren, I would really like to see it when you’re done

Can you add a link to the plans? The one posted doesnt work any longer
Any chance you still have these plans available? Link doesn’t work. Thanks!
Some really great tips and tricks on this one, thanks!
rjtumble you are very welcome and I’m glad you enjoyed it!
are those 2x's cedar?
A very interesting design. Thanks for sharing
Christopher ABELA MEDICI thank you, I appreciate that!
Thanks Mate, thats given me some good ideas
Like the half lap setup always struggled with that, won’t any more.
Awesome! Glad I could help you out. It works great!
I would have like to see a diagram and some discussion on stresses prior to the build.

Correct they do, in order for me to achieve the design I wanted, that’s why I required the extra bracing in the opposite corners
awesome design.
what hinges did you use?
I like the design. It should hold up in the Oklahoma wind.
rod potts heck yeah it will and I don’t have to worry about anybody pilfering on the hardware to open it up

What size of planks are he using?
