I’ve watched everyone of your stone’s videos and I have to say everything you do is EXCELLENT. Please keep up the awesome, fantastic and informative vids you make. Thanks from a true stones fan
You always know how to bring a smile to me Dave...TY! JT....what more can we say. Love looking at anything JT. I was thinking, in fact Joey Pinter (if you know who he is, connected to Walter Lure) asked me to do a doc on the DOLLS 1st one. it is in the back of my mind. All the clips are out there, you just have to be relentless and search over and over again to find good ones. More bullshit footage out there then good, so it takes patience. Glad you feel the emotions on the B&B songs, I do every time. Did not know that about Cleveland 75....interesting. I can not imagine, but it surely could have been. cheers my friend!
I have listened to this and then listen to it again. I can’t believe your dedication to the Stones and even more all of the other fans. Your uncanny ability to tell the story and keep me interested all the way through and absolutely wanting more at the end. I think Keith should give you one of his 3000 guitars that he doesn’t use . Why not Keith think how cool that would be.
LOL Kurt, that was a good smile and laugh......he lives 2 towns away from me. A guitar would be the topper! thank you for commenting this, and sharing.....I appreciate that and I always as a fan, loved to talk Stones and share. We did it growing up, and I carried it till now. They just bring joy to us and connect so many folks. cheers
appreciated!! ty! But there are so many geeks out there that retain and can pour out facts. I am good at the compilation of the facts and delivering it..... retaining is another story. Cheers
Steve, Thank you so much for sharing and your work on this series. Got to see them last week in Charlotte, was bittersweet without Charlie. My favorite band since grade school. Saw them for the first time in '75 at the Capital Center. Thanks again, you knocked it out of the park! R.I.P. Mr. Watts
Cool Ralph, thanks for letting me know. a pleasure. first time 75' is tough to compare to. Glad you got to see them. Tickets were so high.....I watched them live from a Stones group on FB in Pittsb. They had front row by Keith.....and it was just great to see it. Not a fan of the hits, but liked the jamming. yes, said without Charlie.
Crazy Mama and Hand of Fate are two of the greatest rockers in the entire Stones catalogue. I wish they would be more known to the casual Stones listener. When you describe the "Stones" sound, these two songs are prime examples.
They are pure Stones and brilliance. There is no reason they should not be understood! There are more casual Stones fans out there then expected. That is why I made these! To get the word out and to give them a spoon feeding as to why! thanks for sharing
Steve- you have surpassed yourself previous vids of the stones. Part3 of B&B was amazing and well worth the wait. You should be pleased with yourself. A great job .Thankyou man. I'm keeping this one in particular because there was so much going on during that time. I was distraught when Taylor left but Woody has made it his now bless him and you. 👍😃🎶🌈
spoken like a Stones fan, nice!! TY for kind words. If it is out there, I will find it. Yes, very pleased...and now I get to watch as a Stones fan. Woody is just lights on brilliant. One thing to look at and think of, Mick Taylor's career did not excel after, he did well....but stayed under the radar, but loved his work. A question would be, what would Mick T sound like contributing to one song on a new album. That would be interesting, and if I was the Stones, I would pay Mick T mega bucks to contribute! forget any egos.
This is your magnum opus Steve and what a fantastic effort. Sorry about the health issue with your pet cat and hope music brings you some comfort. This video sits at the top of all the music video documentaries i've seen which is testimony to your enthusiasm , knowledge and professionalism. Well done sir!!!!
Thanks Barrie....head down, and get the job done. Thanks for sharing. My cat is doing better on steroid med, he is still sick with some cancer but so much better, and thought he was going to drop 2 weeks after. Makes us happy. we can only see how long it can go. Appreciate your words. It feels great to finish this and hopefully get folks and doubters a bit better realization of their RnR. cheers
You do these documentaries as if that was gonna be your life's work! Voice for it, tone, plenty of research, the whole deal, man! I have bought most EVERY book, magazine, documentaries, posters, souvenirs, shirts ,hats, damned near every article written by the Stones, their roadies, groupies, bodyguards, you na.e it! And there was no internet when I started collecting. I just dug the whole scene and wanted to know more about the Stones than anyone else! I'm 60, and my first 8 -track of the Band was Black and Blue. Then I started to get coffee table books, and if I found 2 or more, I bought all I could get so I could very carefully remove the photos and framed them and still had whole ,complete copies of history. I never had a computer, still don't, but I did some hellacios collecting of posters, books, framed artwork, some very obscure and RARE collectors books, most every documentaries, albums by each members solo work, shirts, hats tour programs, But then they went commercialized these last say 20 or so years and became the most famous and huge, and rich bands of all times, and I can't justify spending more money than I have. I have a whole apartment completely decorated with the Stones . But I also started collecting my favorite Country greats, such as The Highway men, Hank Williams, 11 and 111. Jim Croce, Bill Joe Shaver. And one of the most popular and smartest, talented, Rhodes Scholar, boxer, military man, teacher that West Point tried so hard to get to teach for them, And he decided to take a trip to Nashville before going to be a teacher At West Point, and saw Johnny Cash at the Ryman, and with his huge resume, copter pilot, golden gloves, helluva football player soldier hugely intelligent soldier and Captain, saw Johnny Cash play that night and it was basically 3 second decision that he wanted to be the next Johnny Cash! And he struggled for years and worked janitorial jobs for Columbia Records for several years, bartender, and was deciding on leaving Nashville, and Cash heard the song that was to make them both very famous. What was the song? Hell, someone else tell me that song! I LOVE THE WORK YOU DO. IF YOU GET A CHANCE, YOU CAN JUST SEND ME A MESSAGE. I TRULY DIG YOUR DOCUMENTARIES AND I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS AND HOW YOU GOT STARTED TURNING ALL OF US FANS ON! THANKS FOR YOUR DEDICATION AND HIT ME UP SOMETIME, BROTHER! BEAUTIFUL WORK YOU DO!✌👍
@@jerrycohen8385 Hi Jerry, thanks for your support here and your appreciation. First I think your question to find 'that' song was Sunday morning coming down written by Kris Kristofferson. I did not start as early as you did (same age) with collecting, but I did collect the mags. I am in total sync with your philosophy, and being the 'go to' guy with knowledge and passion. But always wanting to share it and turn people on. If you do not know of Matt Lee, check him out on YT and FBook. He has some collection and a new book HOT STUFF. I had a Wedding/Bar Mitzvah video making business. Succesful because I did the work of 2 people when shooting and knew how and what to shoot so they would not be boring and clients pressing fast forward. All my videos were entertaining and visually moving like a movie. As I started hearing folks claiming to be Stones fans on RUclips doing Stones album reviews and also some bashing of albums and rating them I just got fed up. Especially seeing comments praising these folks that did 8-15 min reviews by going to Wikipedia and copying info. First off a Stones fan has favorites, songs/era/guitarist/albums understood. But a real fan would not bash them. Even Dirty Work has some potential. I do realize their lyrics became below par post 90's. But folks do not know how to listen and breakdown the minute details of why they are the greatest, and why their performance has never been duplicated. A rarity in our lifetime. I got so fed up with it. We would listen over and over to them. The biggest problem was, folks do not realize they need to be played loud and/or thru headphones to get a FIRST understanding of their talents. So with all this floating in my head, and fed up with this fakers out there, I thought the fans needed to be spoon fed and understand who, what, where, why and how they do what they do and their real timeline. that is my short answer. cheers p.s. YT does not allow messaging anymore.
That's maybe a good thing for them NOT TO HAVE IT,ANYMORE! Seeing B&B was my first 8 track, I have had to replace it with cassettes, and CD's. And I was betting 100-1 you knew that I was Seeing that you knew the Kris riddle. Most people hardly listen to a whole song. And to me, my biggest concern and enjoyment is to hear a song once, and right away determine if it is a awesome lyrical story that jams and plays great loud, and is there a personal experience that I went through myself, and how darn good the music makes the lyrics blend and sound ultimately as a personal true story I ha e lived through myself. On B lack and Blue ,, I had this chick and we had a Memory Motel. Every Saturday and Sunday. It was not as soon as I b6the 8track, but many years after. And we both grew to love it when we were on our way every time we went for the weekend. And if you listen closely to Hand of Fate, even though the song has the gritty, grinding music and sound of the Stones, It's. A GREAT SONG About a couple having a great extramarital love affair HE HAD NO LOVE FOR THAT GAL of Mine----------- but HE HAD PAPERS THAT THE JUDGE HAD SIGNED! AND THEY WERE WRITING TRUE ,LIVE , ROCK AND ROLL TRUTHS. I AM INTO MOST MUSIC THAT YOU CAN SEE IN MY LIFE ,ON THE NEWS, REAL LYRICS AND THE STONES TO PLAY IT LOUD AND HE SLOPPY AND THAT5THE STONES METHOD OF DELIVERY, WHICH IS THE DAMNED HISTORY OF THEM!. SUNDAY MORNING COMING DOWN makes you feel the boy kicking the can and the smell of someone frying chicken, stumbling to the closet and finding his cleanest dirty shirt, wishing Lord that he was stoned! I don't think I have to get any points across to you. But so many people are not hearing ANYTHING! I Write poetry and my older brother is who turned me on to Kris. He's published a few personal poetry books and wrote one helluva book of poetry and 2 cd's published in Nashville and out of 13 songs, 10 are great, story tellers, but we k own there are many ignorant people who will read a book or a poem and miss the whole scene. So he wrote a forward at the beginning of the poetry and songs bc we know less than half will get what it's really about. Hell, I listened to Kris Kristopherson song Allen BILLY DEE, AND THE LYRICS ARE SO CLEAR, I figured it out before it was hLf wY through. Check it out. I was maybe 13 . When I heard the song that was telling about BILLY DEE, a good timing honky Tonkin party boy. Thanks again!
Excellent work yet again! I was at Knebworth in 76. Slept rough the night before and got near the front in the morning only to make the schoolboy error (16 year old) of going to the toilet and couldn't get back. Spent the rest of the long drawn out day wondering about. I remember you gotta move track though. Slept rough that night and made it back home. Like you I jam along with Love you live still today especially Ronnie's great solo in Paris on Cant always get.
Thanks David. Wow!!! double wow!!! that is great to hear. So it was you I thought about that lost his spot. I know that feeling....a Stones show back in the day was a lot of banging when up close. Great memory that you have stored. It is funny how one song usually stands out. YGMove is a stand out. I figured there would be a lot of folks watching this that related to the jamming to LYLive......I just can not understand the Ronnie haters.....they are not true RnR'ers.....he just rips it up with his styles. cheers
@@southsheff indeed it was. We came up from the coast (Ramsgate). It was fairly crowded by us and the people directly behind me were not very kind friendly. I remember going to the loo and upon returning becoming lost as I struggled to find our spot lol. I must’ve been 17/18yrs old. Cheers David. ✌️
@Nemo I travelled with a group of older people I didn't know that well on a bus from Coventry to Stevenage who were telling tales of the isle of Wight festival and recently seeing Southside Johnny and Graham Parker double header tour with separate horn sections etc I met them again at the bus station going back. Heady days!
a pleasure, you are welcome! Many folks (fans) do not realize what they were about how potent they were/are! So glad you found this! Hopefully you will check out the other Stones docs on my channel.
This is amazing. This channel has some of the best info about The Rolling Stones, hands down. Thank you. I'm not even a big Rolling Stones fan! Kinda getting there though. It's hard not to feel like-- compared to the Stones--- that The Beatles were quitters. They gave up. They were delicate flowers. But the Stones kept going! They were driven by something. Lol I mean we all knew Keef wasn't a quitter, but I have to respect the work ethic here.
Thank you for commenting and letting me know. I appreciate it, and always say my channel is about the TURN ON. Something to share so someone can walk away with more then they came in with. Glad you got this. I can not even compare those 2 bands, and you said it, KEith had the longevity in mind. It is more about the music then anything else. Which is why we follow. great point!! cool. These docs are made to help folks understand why/how the Stones flowed and about how to listen to their music. It is not about a dance beat, but a true brilliance to the art. I think you will gain plenty knowing all this and having an open mind. Just listen thru headphones, you will be brought much more! cheers, and watch the others docs.
What a great body of work you have produced my man! This will be the thinking mans go to source of critical information! I hope Keith and Ronnie get to see it cheers. Jase
lol thanks Jase.....thank you very much for your comments and sharing. From a fan for the fans. We all share the passion of the Stones. I was fed up with how and what folks have been covering them and only liking the obvious. So much more to discuss and share. I do not think Keith goes on the internet....Ronnie more likely. Like the great Stones fan and author Bill German of Under Their Thumb, he had to break thru the walls to get his Beggars Banquet Fanzine read and known by Ronnie/Mick/Keith in the 80's.....it took a lot of effort. But the point was, they appreciated his work and energy to push their music and he became close friends with K&R. Keith lives 2 towns away from.....an invite for some tea is all I need! cheers, and check out my other docs!!!!
@@FlipSideCT I wish that I caught them live but growing up in New Zealand and then living in Australia I just never had the opportunity to see many Acts…😔
@@jpaulsteadman we took them for granted living near NYC.....we knew we could find them here or there. I feel your pain.....that does suck when I think about your situation.

WOW, You have done an Amazing Amount of research to bring me some of the best events in the Stones lives that I love to hear. So far I have gone through this 2 times, So glad that I found ur Chanel, Again Thankyou..
thank you very much for the kind comments. I am glad I am able to deliver the goods for you. From a fan for the fan. We needed this! Yes, so much time is put into this, and I appreciate the acknowledgement. There is a lot of info. Enjoy all the others!. you are welcome!
I'm addicted to your Stones videos. Is there any help for me? I hope, by all means, you continue with other albums. I'll be particularly interested in docs about albums such as Dirty Work and Steel Wheels, if you get that far.
Thanks Jason for your addiction. a good one to have. I do have others on my channel, but not Stones related. but cool ones. hopefully they can keep you going. I would consider DW and SW, they would surely be shorter in length.....but I know for sure it wold be very hard to try to convince some folks. thanks
@@FlipSideCT Yes, I've been watching a lot. We're definitely on the same wave length regarding music. I think you might relish the challenge of getting people to revisit the band's later albums. I know plenty of people, despite their continued popularity, who dismiss anything after Tattoo You. It's absurd.

holy crap, what a damn journey that was. Nothing missed. What info and delivery. You put all of us Stones fans into new world and brought at least me closer to them. I have such a clear and potent understanding now. Fan friggin tastic!!! Words can not express the gratitude for your time, style and efforts here. I do not know what or how, but you need to get something for this (and others). what a beautiful buzzzz!!!
so glad to have brought this out there for all to feel and understand the power of the delivered. Great comments TY! Do not know what any outcome will be for getting something out of these, but for now, I will go for the ride and see where I end up.
Thanks so much for these 3 videos, truly immense contribution that we stones fan can fest on. Have been following every step of the way. The Black and Blue period, Stones at their most colorful, really creative period, i totally agree that B+b has some of the greatest Stones moments on vinyl and laying the path for how they mature as a band. Fool to cry, memory motel , Hey Negrita, Hot stuff are all big reasons why I fell in love with the Stones in the first place.
I would not expect less from you Steve. A true fan, and just gets it. I would say if there are still any doubters after they watch this, then it will never happen. A fan can appreciate everything they give. I would say I am only a McCartney fan from the 70's, everything else falls flat for me...so I do not say I am a full fan at all. This album shutters brilliance! thanks again
I love your perspective on the making of these albums and how you count down the bars and the charts and the sidebars *(like what's going on behind the scenes at the time)I had a friend, she passed away. She was Married to Bobby Keys, 70-71..she was never the same after she toured with the Stones..she came back chain smoking and drinking heavily & after splitting up with Bobby, tried to raise their daughter via serially marrying 4 different guys after him. .(just an aside) Love your take on it all. Thank you
Man” Steve is this some really really great stuff. I’ve watched all of these 3part Rolling Stones Specials. Absolutely awesome! Thank you so much! The first concert I was at was: June 29th 1975. Thank you! tank you! Be safe Pal.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for letting me know. We are a big but small family and feel the connection. Glad you found these and clicked with me. So you saw the Spectrum footage I showed......that some one uploaded. I wished I got to see that tour! cheers
This guy is a true fan. I've been listening to the Stones for forty years, but would never claim to have the breadth of knowledge, or passion, he has. And you learn something new listening to this. Thank you for giving me a keener appreciation of the Rolling Stones.
A pleasure (from "this guy"). Glad you enjoyed this and can appreciate what I made and delivered here. A doc from a fan for a fan. We all needed this, as there is nothing out there other then books that can give insight. I agree. I still watch these as a fan. Glad you can dig the turn on's here! hopefully you check out my other docs! cheers
@@FlipSideCT Yes I'm watching them all ! I say again we learn something new. Most doco's cater only to casual fans and don't tell you anything new. The Stones in the seventies were so interesting... there was a lot going on professionally and personally. It became less interesting later on with the personal stuff, but that's not a bad thing - Keith met and married Patti, and is still married to her. His life was back on an even keel. More power to him. Bill Wyman of all people did the last outrageous thing - married a teenager when he was in his fifties!
@@andrewfrancis7272 so glad to hear that ! There are so many bands that stick to their repetitious sounds, and many folks like that and many do not. The Stones moved along with their times, and so many folks could not accept that. But true Stones fans did. Yes, their drama changed for good/bad. Patti was great for Keith. He knew he someone good and did not want to screw it up. Bill, knew he f*cked up after with that ridiculous marriage(s). He admits it.
@@FlipSideCT One of the things I like about Keith is he wasn't a player. He's a pirate and all but he's also traditional in some ways - pretty loyal and didn't play the field. Bill and Mick were the horndogs in that band. I was born the year the Stones formed. They're such a fixed, permanent presence in all our lives. I can only think of Britain's Queen as having a longer presence. God save the Queen and the Rolling Stones :).
Dear Steve, I’ll keep this short cause I said enough at the end of Part 2. I waited about a half a week to comment to scan the mentality out there. Not that bad. Anyhow Mate, another bang up job. Already put it on the reels for posterity. See ya on the next level. You gotta move. Peace Mate, Rocky
way to go Rocky, thank you! lol the mentaility.....I wished there were more views compared to the other parts....but not hearing much negative which I am glad. Then again, I muted those folks. thanks for all cheers.
A brilliant deep dive into the incredible musical legacy of the Rolling Stones. As with previous FlipSideCT examinations, this series is rich in context that is as insightful as it is comprehensive. By exploring the circumstances around the album's creation-Taylor's departure, the gear, the players, the places, the amazing prowess and insanity of the mid-70's touring Stones, the album as audition for a new guitar player, etc., one is given a unique glimpse into a band that is forever in transition. Even today: RIP Charlie Watts and props to Steve Jordan. Underlying it all, is a scholarship that is deeply resonating for its curiosity, appreciation, honesty, and warmth. Very uniquely and importantly, it is also the investigation of a musician breaking down the parts of the whole to better understand the craft of the band and the craft itself.
well said as usual and expected. Thank you. 'Forever in transition' is well put and what many lack to understand. thanks for sharing....we will see what lies ahead.
Once again.. thank you for another fantastic documentary. I really admire and appreciate the work you do. Thank YOU for being part of the Stones Family
a big thank you and pleasure! We are in this together, and a family for sure! We all feel the same emotions about them and what they provide. It is great to help others that may not understand it and convert....but I always loved to create and share and talk Stones and music. keep watching these and spread the word. IT is not for me, it is for the fans!!
Hi Steve! I have been eagerly awaiting this Part 3 documentary from you. I can't wait until I have time to fully absorb it all later today. It is so cool. Rock on! - Heather
I needed a few days to get through this 3 part series and I enjoyed every moment and will need to go back and give it a few more listens/viewings. I always loved BnB and wondered why people took issue with it, but I enjoyed it more than I worried about what other people thought of it. My main thought was that it was a SHORT album because there are only 8 songs! It never occurred to me the songs were too long to have others added! Brilliant album and brilliant review, thank you Steve, very much appreciated.
A pleasure Robert, thanks for commenting and letting me know. Glad you rolled thru it and took your time. A lot here to absorb. I am still watching it as a fan also. A real special time for Stones. So many folks wanted that crunch riffing like prior albums. They just gave it something else......a reason why I make these is because I do not think some folks know how or what to listen for, and do not know how to appreciate their brilliance. Hell, Chopin never wrote a bad tune....just different styles. Anyone who can not appreciate this album is not a real fan! appreciate you letting me know. hopefully you check out my other docs. in planning stages for Some Girls next. a lot of work ahead! cheers
@@FlipSideCT Great to hear SG is next. BnB and IORR were good albums but that was a great LP. I remember it bouncing them back to 5 star reviews in Rolling Stone. The drug arrest got Keith clean finally and it showed in the songs. Their writing was much better and Keith's issues and Mick's divorce from Bianca gave them the most material to write about in years. Beast of Burden may be my all time fav stones song - possibly their best opening chords to any song IMO. Massive hit, FYI even Tea Leoni was dancing to it in the shower in the movie ' The Family Man' for some trivia . Was in 'Frank Claus' too.
Hi Steve, Another great Doc. ! My favorite song "Memory Hotel". Mick a fantastic front man..not so nice person, as I've seen from other Doc.'s. Keith..( My favorite) has a warm heart, love the story of the blind girl. RIP Charlie. Such fascinating, engaging stories about an iconic Band that will never be rivaled. I never liked all the strange balloons, elephants, and strange stage sets. Just play the music ! Imagine all the money wasted, and lost over those failed attempts. Thanks Steve !
Hi Cindy....I think I made my point loud an clear with MEMORY. I do not think any other artist came come close to this. Mick's voice is not spectacular, it is how he uses it and learned to as he moved along. Yes, that is why they called Mick Brenda, his personalities changing often. A surprise of which Mick/Brenda you would meet. Yeah, aside from his grueling drug period, once Patti came in, he became the tamer and kinder Keith. He is so pleasant to listen to on interviews after. I feel good getting the word out, and folks appreciating it and learning more. I as a fan, watched this also....and still absorb. I should have mentioned that good stage lighting is all they needed, and we would accept them as is. Those props remind me of a flashy car with over flashy hubcaps and spoilers etc. LOL, I had friends like that, and always laughed at that gaudiness. all the best Cindy! thank you.
Likewise I liked the album straight away. Even though I got into new wave/punk I prefer the funky disco Stones to the attempt at punk with the likes of Shattered.
I agree with your evaluation of Fool to Cry i recall hearing it on an AM hit radio station at 11 years old and getting the sad almost bittersweet deep feeling of it . So well put together without even knowing who the Stones were
I am with you GK....as a fan I am still watching and learning....a lot to absorb. Hopefully you watched the other docs I have on my channel....thanks for commenting and sharing! Starting to plant the seed for next one.
I know Chris, as I watched this as a fan I felt the same..more please! LOL.....I tell ya, I need much much more material to read on Some Girls as there were so many songs recorded....this one is a challenge. .... that made me laugh...I liked that!
Steve I cant thank you enough! That was so great!! My first concert was The Stones at The Buffalo Aud in 1975. I still have the exact some feeling going to a Stones concert 45 years or so later. Best feeling in the world!
glad it brought it all back for you.....we do not realize how potent their vibe was....until we realize days/weeks/years later what we witnessed. you caught a great show, a notch on your belt. thanks for sharing and the support!!
A(nother) awesome 8 hour (?) documentary on the Stones. This time, on one of their most underestimated albums in my opinion. How do you do this???? Have the Stones ever reacted to your masterpieces? Thanks and BRAVO, Man!
Hi Jean...thanks for your comments. An album I surely wanted to prove the doubters wrong. I have a good skill of project organization, research and compiling information. I hated tests in my schooling, but aced all my projects and reports. No Stones contacts, and doubt they ever will. But would love to work with Bill Wyman and his archives. cheers !!
So happy to have come across this. I recently read "Life"...my first reading of Stone's stuff was "Up and Down..." in '79. Been on a Stones kick for 2 weeks now...and have rewatched some of it already. Best documentation of this band I've ever seen!
Hi Steve. This is extremely well done.. It's terrific. I appreciate the amount of effort you put into this.. Thank you. It was an adventure. As always the pacing of your narration allows me to think about and understand what is going on and the detail is quite impressive.
MCM, you totally got why I presented it the way I did. The visual, the words, the music all at once, our brain needs to absorb the content and I understood that. We need to process and break it down as we absorb. I have had several complaints of how slow I am....so they are hidden from my channel to comment again. Thank you, and hopefully you saw my other docs. cheers
Steve, this one was truly worth waiting for. It's an outstanding job on a remarkable album. Your hard work, knowledge and love for what you do shines through and is just terrific. The story I heard behind the "Who The F*ck is Mick Jagger" t-shirt is that Mick had dropped in to a Miles Davis LA studio session. Mick was in an ante room of some sort waiting to see Miles, and someone told Miles that Jagger was waiting. Miles apparently said "Who the f*ck is Mick Jagger?" and kept him waiting a while. Bear in mind, this was during Miles' Dark Magus blacked-out windows years, so it makes sense .... Oh, and just randomly to say, (a) I love what Charlie does in Hot Stuff for a couple of seconds just after Mick sings the Jamaica line, and (b) I know exactly what her hair all drenched in spray looks like.
thanks for getting this...and letting me know! I am glad I am able to do this and folks appreciate it, like yourself. Interesting about the T shirt logo. I did not know that, and I should have dug in more on it. I searched more on it also, but did not see anything direct about it. I saw other comments that Mick wanted Miles to play with him, but Mikes did said only Fuck That. Not saying your research is not true, but usually like to see a few references if possible...so I am going to ask around on IORR.ORG. thanks for all!!
@@FlipSideCT Steve, I have no idea where I heard the Miles story, so have no source for it. I hope it's true and it makes sense, but I'll look too and see what we can see. And on your comment below about Darryl, I will say only that I have missed Bill since 1991. It's weird to me that Keith said only years later he had never quite realised how good Bill was. Cheers, Chris (one of my kids created the zile fn avatar - it means nothing to me, but also everything, cos my boy made it).
This is Magnificent work. So much great footage, astounding narrative and what I like especially is the time and the attentiveness which the material is given. Allowing the work to breath gives it dynamic and underlying strength. Tremendous gratitude.
Thank you very much Lenny. You surely picked up on the style and presentation I purposely did to make this, great to hear! A lot happening and there was no way I wanted to ram it down. Cool...hopefully you will check out my other docs!!
hey steve was so looking forward to pt3 and didn’t disappoint👍🏻you never fail to put together a great doco☝🏻as far as the album i have a few opinions🤔i think firstly when it was released it was the longest as far as distance between releases so some fans were dissatisfied expecting something different😩i personally think the songs are strong but collectively maybe not, side A plays well although hot stuffs not a great opener but side B were the problems are with hey negrita, melody and fool to cry not a great trio together and even worse on cd format with 5 non stones regular sort of songs in a row!i think crazy mama placed before fool and rounding the album of with melody might of worked better👍🏻in saying all that i still have it in my top 6 fav stones albums🎸looking forward to any more doco’s you release simply outstanding😁
thank you for your kind words and sharing your thoughts. As mentioned, I understand the thinking and absorbed what you said. A 2 year hiatus of album releases. I do remember and know folks wanted that rocker album and disappointed not having Taylor. A huge difference in melodic musical flow and presentation. I guess my key comment point is, not to even look at this as a flowing album....but as different songs presenting themselves individually. Any one of these songs can fit in on any one of their albums. I am thinking of Some Girls, but do not have enough material yet....and not ready to buckle down and start reading this quick. cheers and thanks again!
A pleasure, and I am glad when fans like yourself can appreciate it. hopefully you check out the others. Working on Keith 77' Toronto and Love You Live now.
Man, @FlipSideCT, I have seen EVERY Stones video and documentary and I own many, but I have to say that your entire collection is far and away, the BEST! Keep it up! Be well.....
Wow, thanks! just seeing this now, sorry. very cool to see this and thanks for sharing! appreciated, working on the STP Tour 1972 now Part 1. Part 2 will be for donators
I just finished this epic trifecta series on the making of Black and Blue. What an odyssey! I feel like I’m really getting to know the Stones intimately. I think their Black and Blue LP is way underrated. I can remember buying this back in 1976, and feeling like they were going back to their roots on this one. I was very attracted to the track “Melody.” It was such a departure in style but I really dug it and still do. “Hot Stuff” remains a staple on my Stones playlist for workouts. And as you sum it up near the end, the Stones are only human, just like us. That only endears me to them that much more. “*****” (5 stars)
you are surely getting your binge watching! I do not blame you. I would also. This is what I always wanted to watch. But learned plenty making it! Enjoy these! I am still working on my STP 1972 Tour project now, PART 1. But Part 2 will be be for donators!
Stella work my friend. Thanks for the hours of work you put into this, the results speak for themselves. Something I will be re-watching many times. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful… Well done… and thank you! I know I’ll be returning to rewatch again and again… But consider this: The inner sleeve photo by Hiro of the band on the beach with the lighters? It’s actually one of the greatest images of the band…ever! Each one of the images created by the lighters captures exactly their individual personalities at that time…. Also…by now… “Melody” is pretty much a deep cut masterpiece gem Are ya gonna tackle “Some Girls” next?
I found this documentary and it was interesting and I had never listened to this record before (Black and Blue) so I have been track by track while watching this. These songs are brilliant.
glad you found it Daniel....that is how we nowadays get turned on to some cool things. So cool you did a Track by Track..as I presented it.....that was how I intended for someone to watch it and listen. perfect!!! check out my other docs now!!
One of my big disappointments from this period was the loss of Mick Taylor, one of my favorite guitarists ever. But if you think about it, what better replacement could you get than Ron Wood? Especially if you listen to the work by The Faces from the early seventies. He was a Rolling Stone before he was in the Rolling Stones! Pleased at the nod to his solo work, I remember being thrilled with his Gimme Some Neck album.
Mick T gave all he could, and did. He knew he was short term. Ronnie is a blessing! Faces are the closest sound to Stones. I have been buying Ronnies LIVE newer solos.
Thank you James, appreciate you letting me know.....and glad Stones fans are enjoying this. From a fan for the fans. Please check out my other Docs also!!
So in depth Stones as is technically possible on video. You invented something. Awesome content. Black and blue is aweseome. Your experiencing mirrors mine. My.1st Srones bought in 1977.
thank you for that feedback and also for sharing! I feel I did present something we fans have always wanted. A sure challenge, but feel it delivers it for all of us. thanks for the support. Wish I did go to 78' show. enjoy the others!
@@FlipSideCT these series are especially pleasant as your appreciation of minor details as this Ooh or Aah from Mick at 1.06 of song X you dig so much are indeed very relevant and create ambiances no other group has atteigned. Something you missed out on though was Micks on stage behaviour and dresscodes on different tours. The 76 eurotour he looked awful imo whilst the 75looks with the lotus stage was amazing. I did not like the cringy homobuddy stuff with Preston though. More details left Flipside even after 8h!
@@rayerscarpensael2300 thanks. I thought I did talk about his stage look. but it might be in another doc. I can not keep track of it at all. but yes, the wardrobe is important, as Mick takes these seriously.
Man you job is oustanding!!!! You dont know how much I appreciate your efforts here… the stones fans are like a world family..its a lifetime with them.. This really means a lot. Makes me even more want to be there every time!!!!
Exactly! These are so incredible- with how many Beatles docs come out- it’s so good to see these Stones analysis in depth! There is so much footage I’ve never in these seen somehow, just very well done.
Thank you both!! There is so much that I felt was not being given to us in a comprehensive package, and felt the need to do it myself. I think it brings us closer to the Stones and understand more. More important, to teach and prove the doubters. You can not be a Stones fan if this album is shunned. So I salute all you who get it!
Need to make another comment, I agree ,You need a good sound system to get the best out of their songs. Crazy Mamma ,I can't keep still hearing it, I play guitar a little & appreciate what I hear, Just blows me away . What A Band...
Loving this walk down memory lane! (40 minutes in)... I was at the Thursday MSG show in the front and center about five rows back. I remember Keith spent much of the show sitting down in front of his amp and Mick made a comment about it being Thursday in NYC as in too many shows in a row. Thanks for the great and rare detailed look at history and the epitome of freedom I was lucky enough to live.....
so cool to be at MSG show...I really wished I could have witnessed 69-78! When folks saw these, I can only believe they did not realize how great this was and the future's history they were witnessing. very cool thanks for sharing
@@FlipSideCT the abbatoure version of outta space has the same riff as hot stuff but it resolves with another chord pattern. Good morning by the way!!!
Woke up to see that part 3 of the Black and Blue series is up and it’s 2 and a half hours! It’s going to be a great day of Stones - thank you so much I think the black and blue part one is my favorite of yours I’ve seen so I’m very excited for this! ✌️❤️
Hand of fate...I am right there with you on everything you said.I NEVER,EVER tire of hearing that song.and Wayne absolutely kills it with his blistering solo contributions.that song to me is a wild, wild west picture show masterpiece complete with visuals.pure musical perfection personified.again,I can't thank you enough for these docs you've put together man-for real.this is the best Stones presentation hands down.you get it,I get it and for those who don't:that's a crying shame.thanks again man.wow, wow and wow..
LM, thank you!!! thank you! I really dig it when Stones fans appreciate the work I did. It takes so much time and effort to make these, and not getting a dime. Pure passion for the fans like you. I had gotten some negative feedback but from small %, that simply do not "get it" and I tell them to never watch again. cheers and thanks for your support.
They should have made a video for Hand of Fate & Memory Motel ! Every time I hear those tracks, I see a soap Opera in there. Maybe my favorites, great jams!
I just subscribed to your channel! I’ve been a Stones fan for years. I always thought this album was very underrated. Looking forward to digging through your channel.
@@FlipSideCT I'll watch all of it that gets posted in the future as well. I've been a Musician for a long time, and I am endlessly fascinated with "what goes on on tour" and behind the scenes stories. I didn't dwell in the superstar world, but we were regionally popular, and as so, we opened for some biggies. Another world altogether.
@@FlipSideCT I love their music, but in 1981, I believe, came the Tattoo You tour. They, as before, left Kansas City off the tour. Many of my Friends bought tickets to see them at Red Rocks, But the local Rock Station that was KY102 began a petition to bring them to town. I think there was close to 75k signatures. They came, and I went to that one. It was evident immediately that they didn't want to be there too much. It was lazy & sloppy, I left feeling like I could have bought several of their albums, for the cost of my ticket, and enjoyed the music. I do understand their earlier tours were great, but, for me...I just wouldn't have come if I were them. They clearly did not want it, why do it? I will have to do some hunting, most of our master tapes were held by our bassist, and we lost him to Cocaine, 6 weeks after our last show. By then I was doing a contract with Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, producing several paintings in a 3 year project. I can no longer locate the drummer, who I've known since we were 12, and our guitarist probably would have burned anything he had...I may have a cassette somewhere from a practice, but I don't know after all the moving. Im back in KS, and ive had a studio built in my backyard, We are moving equipment in now, and if nothing else, I will post stuff from my project.
A lot of info here, I had to watch this twice. I need to come back again to take notes. Great job it was worth the wait. Forty years a Stones fan coming up December Eighteenth of this year Twenty Twenty-One this year!!!!! :) I will be looking forward to more documentaries like this about The Rolling Stones. Thanks you very much!!!!!
So glad to hear that. There is plenty info and takes time to absorb, and of course why I talk slower to help that along (some folks don't understand why). I hope I can deliver more, and hope you watched my others!
A wonderful and most immersive doc' on my fav' RS album/tour ('76)..the year I got into them. Watched this over XMas and it's a real keeper..Superb!...Thanks for all your RS doc's Flip'!
@@FlipSideCT What are you planing next? If you don't mind me asking. I,for one, wouldn't be disappointed if you were to carry on chronologically and do a FlipSideCT on "Some Girls".
I have to add that at the end of Memory Motel, just before Harveys beautiful guitar lick to end the song, there's a wonderful sort of country cadence on the piano. Fucking brilliant!
Been waiting for this video for 2/3 weeks . Awesome channel and very very very good Stones documentaries . Maybe a Sticky and Exile docs next ? Keep it up !
I was at Knebworth on that famous day. First time I ever saw the Stones as a teenager. Thank you so much for the memories. Many years later I met Keith when he was in Bermuda……..we talked about it briefly. Incredible. The sound track of my life😎
@@FlipSideCT He was on the island for a week and did some solo recording…I happened to go to the Front st nightclub that weekend and was introduced to him…..amazing at the time…..😂
Hey Steve, thanks for finishing this 3 part series. You do very in-depth documentaries, the way I like them. And your knowledge about their instruments, especially Keith's & Ronnie's guitars, tunings, and related stories about all their guitar & keyboard parts (including Mick's) are very much appreciated by this guitarist/keyboardist. Great work.
Glad you got to see this GG. appreciate your comments......I make these the way I would want to see it, so glad you are in my groove. glad to see you mention the technical side, which I take pleasure to observe. it is great stuff. thanks for all.
Thanks for listening, and comments! Exactly why I made what I did! A Stones fan should not be putting this one down at all. check out my other docs, cheers
Thank you Chuck for letting me know this. The hard work (which it is plenty of) is all worth while when folks like your self enjoy it and learn. cheers
Hello Steve; Part 3 of the Rolling Stones Black & Blue Documentary. High marks for the hours of research, notes, ideas, scene placements, songs, archive photos, & editing, to put this labor of love on film. Brilliantly scripted narrative explaining all the nuances, ups & downs, give & takes, drugs, arrests, & personal disagreements surrounding the Stones recording & subsequent tour of this LP. Once again a well done documentary encapsulating this moment of Stones history. Making the project worth while & informative in its content. Take care. Tina & Pat!!~👍
Thanks T&P....for identifying all this and the work efforts. I think we all can say we know what happened and most of the why's. I still have questions as I did this that I could not find answers to, so I just moved on. A lot of time gaps that I would have liked to know more about, then again, they might have just been in their personal lives and not exposing it to the world. cheers
I didn't know Jesse Davis played with the Stones (I have his first album)... and how cool would have it been to be Bill Wyman and get an invitation to meet legends like that. From The Vaults - another awesome resource to get some of these things... wish more artists did this. Loved seeing your horse!
A nice tie in with Jesse....I did not know he played with the Faces. Bill is so emotional when it comes to these heroes.....I really wonder if Keith was not around that he missed an event like that. I am kicking myself for not getting more of The Vaults....I wanted to buy a few more, and forget it now. Neil gets it for sure what the fans want to see! Yes, wish there were more. LOL, figures you would the be the first to comment on my mare....she was great!! TY
The Stones will be in Orlando on June 3rd. I’m sure there’s plenty of tickets available. I use to never miss a show even if it meant driving or flying for miles but I’m in Tampa and a few weeks short of 64. I’m still thinking of going. Your videos are incredibly inspiring. The footage that you’ve acquired is amazing. Thanks for all the hard work. I’m sure this took a long time to compile. Keep going please!
Dan thank you so much for your kind words and support on this. Yes, it is an immense project, all of them. More than I imagined. they are fun to make. Well, I did not attend this tour....prices and logistics and song list. I am sure it would be a blast to still see. I have a buddy who saw them on Ed Sullivan and every other major event after. He had no problem missing this one. Enjoy the show if you do go.....and so glad I can share the inspiration, that goes a long way for me!!!
I’ve been enjoying the heck out of these documentaries. I learned some things I didn’t about the stones in the Black and Blue era and I know a lot!! Lol. Keep up the great work!! Moving on to the Some Girls era now. Looking forward to it!
I know.....I was working on it every day also....just a lot of content as you can see and so much to layout. Debated to do this in 4 parts....but stuck with it. I do next expect the next one until at least January-Feb.
I started watching "the making of Some Girls Part 1" and at the 12 minute mark, Steve suggested that I stop right now and go back and check out the making of Black and Blue part 3. That was great advice. I was born in 1963 and when I was 12 my older sister gave me "Hot Rocks" I fell in love with side 4 and I became a lifelong Rolling Stones fan. The next album the band released was Black and Blue and I played that album, 8 track, cassette and CD to death. I was so lucky to be able go back in time and experience previous Stones albums while enjoying new releases at the same time. This documentary was awesome. The rare footage was phenomenal and I enjoyed Steve's no nonsense commentary. To this day "Love you live" is my favorite live Stones album. Now, I'm on to "the making of Some Girls.
you totally get it and right in sync with all! thank you for your comments. It was usually someone older that gave us the TURN ON. We all get those memories now....of when/where. Hopefully you check out the other docs, esp GHSoup and hear my rap on Brussels Affair Live.....talk about a live album. thanks for all...!!

Hey Negrita!!!

I figured there would be a lot of folks watching this that related to the jamming to LYLive......I just can not understand the Ronnie haters.....they are not true RnR'ers.....he just rips it up with his styles. cheers

Thank You for posting your amazing documentary on the Rolling Stones Black & Blue tour. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
a pleasure, you are welcome!

I'm addicted to your Stones videos. Is there any help for me?
I hope, by all means, you continue with other albums. I'll be particularly interested in docs about albums such as Dirty Work and Steel Wheels, if you get that far.

so glad to have brought this out there for all to feel and understand the power of the delivered.
The best stuff on the Stones! They need you to put together a proper anthology documentary

I love your perspective on the making of these albums and how you count down the bars and the charts and the sidebars *(like what's going on behind the scenes at the time)I had a friend, she passed away. She was Married to Bobby Keys, 70-71..she was never the same after she toured with the Stones..she came back chain smoking and drinking heavily & after splitting up with Bobby, tried to raise their daughter via serially marrying 4 different guys after him. .(just an aside)
Love your take on it all. Thank you
Man” Steve is this some really really great stuff. I’ve watched all of these 3part Rolling Stones Specials. Absolutely awesome! Thank you so much! The first concert I was at was: June 29th 1975. Thank you! tank you! Be safe Pal.

Anyone who can not appreciate this album is not a real fan! appreciate you letting me know. hopefully you check out my other docs. in planning stages for Some Girls next. a lot of work ahead! cheers
@@FlipSideCT watching GHS just now! Great stuff.

@@jgm4661 them living in NYC and the Punk scene helped lyrically, and yes, Keith's new clean up from being on the very bottom all helped.

@@FlipSideCT You did prove it. I hope everybody who watches your videos appreciates the incredible effort you make.
LOL, I had friends like that, and always laughed at that gaudiness. all the best Cindy! thank you.
@@FlipSideCT Very well said, I agree with you about the lighting,"Less is More". The Best to you Too ! Cindy

right, and that is why I wanted to make this. So many do not know how to approach it and understand the brilliance.
Likewise I liked the album straight away. Even though I got into new wave/punk I prefer the funky disco Stones to the attempt at punk with the likes of Shattered.
I LOVE "MELODY" The piano, the vocals, horns, scat & screaming-I LOVE IT!!

Cheers, Chris (one of my kids created the zile fn avatar - it means nothing to me, but also everything, cos my boy made it).

hey steve was so looking forward to pt3 and didn’t disappoint👍🏻you never fail to put together a great doco☝🏻as far as the album i have a few opinions🤔i think firstly when it was released it was the longest as far as distance between releases so some fans were dissatisfied expecting something different😩i personally think the songs are strong but collectively maybe not, side A plays well although hot stuffs not a great opener but side B were the problems are with hey negrita, melody and fool to cry not a great trio together and even worse on cd format with 5 non stones regular sort of songs in a row!i think crazy mama placed before fool and rounding the album of with melody might of worked better👍🏻in saying all that i still have it in my top 6 fav stones albums🎸looking forward to any more doco’s you release simply outstanding😁
thank you for your kind words and sharing your thoughts.
Outstanding research and presentation in the three part documentary! Thanks for sharing your insight during this period of The Rolling Stones!

Great job. I watched all 3 parts, and they all were a comprehensive telling of this period of musical history, and very interesting for Stones fans.

@@kilgoretrout3966 give me a glimmer of your music! glad you will. There will be no other like The Stones, and their road map is an archival treasure!
Keef will never make 40 ,hang on make it 50 ,ok then 60 ,at 70 be all over ,bloody hell he won't make 80 ,,foookin hell 90 then ,😮
he is a unique specimen. and one of a kind. long live Keith

This is a travel log for the onset of the decline of The greatest band of all time.
decline? please explain the.
@@FlipSideCT Please compare Sticky Fingers with Black and Blue. Same band?
@@JeffreyWilliams-dr7qe Why would you compare the 2 albums? I would not compare any albums to each other.
@@Aristipp-ng5fu To early in the day for threats, idiocy and oh yeah Delusions friends!

Masterful documentary, all three parts. Thank-you!
Glad you enjoyed it Julian. appreciated the kind words. hopefully you check out the other docs.
@@FlipSideCT What are you planing next? If you don't mind me asking. I,for one, wouldn't be disappointed if you were to carry on chronologically and do a FlipSideCT on "Some Girls".
Great job... Very entertaining & informative... Thank you for all your hard work compiling it...

These are my favourite you tube vids Thankyou from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
great to hear that , and thanks for sharing. Keep on watching!!
I have to add that at the end of Memory Motel, just before Harveys beautiful guitar lick to end the song, there's a wonderful sort of country cadence on the piano. Fucking brilliant!
yes Eric, glad you can hear and feel it ! it is such brilliance indeed!!
Thanks again for all of your work on every detail. Every moment speaks to me. It’s going to be in textbooks for students to study someday, I swear
lol....I would hope more fans would watch, not for views but for the exposure of info. Glad you feel that way, as it does for me also as a fan!
You do a great job with these docs, thank you .
Glad you like them! thanks Ray. check out my other ones
Yes more content. Your videos are the best Steve. Rolling Stones still got it.
Thanks Mikey.....appreciate that ! They make us happy!
Been waiting for this video for 2/3 weeks . Awesome channel and very very very good Stones documentaries . Maybe a Sticky and Exile docs next ? Keep it up !
thank you Miguel... I also been waiting....so much work had to be done and to get it posted correctly. thanks!!
I was at Knebworth on that famous day. First time I ever saw the Stones as a teenager. Thank you so much for the memories.
Many years later I met Keith when he was in Bermuda……..we talked about it briefly.
Incredible.
The sound track of my life😎
very nice notch on the belt. glad this help relive it. cool to meet Keith, had no idea he stopped in Bermuda. nice
@@FlipSideCT He was on the island for a week and did some solo recording…I happened to go to the Front st nightclub that weekend and was introduced to him…..amazing at the time…..😂
@@normancotterill7849 nice!!
Excellent Job!!! I have always thought that album deserved more credit!
Thanks for listening, and comments! Exactly why I made what I did! A Stones fan should not be putting this one down at all. check out my other docs, cheers
Another sparkling gem...thank you for all your hard work Steve. I learned so much.
Thank you Chuck for letting me know this. The hard work (which it is plenty of) is all worth while when folks like your self enjoy it and learn. cheers
Amazing work, from a stones fan thank so much for your dedication and efford , always, looking forward for the next stones album insight.
cool FM....thanks for getting all this and my presentation of all it. From one fan to another!! TY
Looking forward to it!
thanks for sharing that Greg....meant for a Stones fan to geek out....so glad to hear that. thanks foe=r the support. enjoy on....
Man we have all been waiting on this one for what feels like absolutely ages
I know.....I was working on it every day also....just a lot of content as you can see and so much to layout. Debated to do this in 4 parts....but stuck with it. I do next expect the next one until at least January-Feb.
@@FlipSideCT fantastic!! Absolutely amazing
