Thank you for not talking for a half an hour, wasting everyone's time like the rest of the RUclipsrs.
Truly, you're awesome
A picture is worth 1000 words. If only others could communicate as clearly as this gentleman. Thank you for your posting.
thanks for such a verbally detailed explanation on how to use this equipment .
instructables covered this pretty well with pictures, but this is so concise. Picked up this tool for $2 at a garage sale and only had a general idea of how to work it. Thanks!
The micrometer slide is nice.
The way it is to be used otherwise is that the lower knurled wheel is a reference stop, not a locking knob.
You grind the first flute , adjust the rear stop. This then gives the amount of travel for the second flute.
Interesting how you use this tool! I had mine for at least 20 years and did not understood how i could use it! But i tried to figur out how it was ment to be used, and i was almost there! But thank you for a good video!
I like the micrometer adjuster you've added to the base!! Now, I will buy one, that I know how yo ensure same grind on each side.
That's the first time Ive seen the lower adjustment and it seems eminently sensible to me. I have tried these sharpeners and they are OK but I can see how that adjustment would help no end. Having said that have you tried anything but the standard 108 degrees, I have tried to do sharper points and I cant get any sense out of it. Thanks for sharing
You are using a micrometer adjuster on a grinder that has not been dressed. Now that takes balls!

Is there a video about how you made the mechanism you turned at the bottom?
It looks like the micrometer adjustment is in the base to push the whole unit closer to the grinder. Something I’d like to try with mine. :)
Would appreciate a link as to how this micrometer is setup
you can use a lathe's top slide.
@@AlbertAuWorkshop How about a machinist vice with x and y axis cranks. The x axis used to sharpen, and they axis use to set the cutting edge angle?
Brilliant. How about a bit of info how you made the micro adjuster. Would love to add the adjuster to my rig.

thank you for telling me where I can find this little sliding table (France)
But the real question is: does the bit cut well?
No difference compared to the new drill bit.
Boa noite eu gostaria de saber qual posição da ponta da broca
For a 59 degree cut, your bit should stick out 50% of the diameter of the bit from the little stop underneath to the edge of the relief angle of the bit.
May I ask how much is this product, and can you give me the link to buy it. I don't have this item in Vietnam
Měl by jsi odstranit vibrace brusky, nebo to dělá kamera?
These grinders are ok on larger diameter bits but useless on bits smaller than 1/4". They don't grind enough of a relief angle.
Before I grind 3mm are ok also.
I tried grinding a No. 25 drill and it didn't produce a relief angle. After 4 attempts I said screw it.
I tried 3 to 20mm , and have good effect,
sporster88 - Anything smaller than a quarter inch should be bought in a jobbers pack. Cheaper in the long run to through away. or cut off to use as pins.
esta mostrando el dispositivo o gastando innecesariamente la broca?

Never mind, today I am inspired….and I shall send to you, to share with all machinists, a wonderful invention for this purpose
@UClabPSz8LlTyn9D93HGIMUw Is there a video about how you made the mechanism you turned at the bottom? Thx!!
It is so sample, Can be use a lathe top-slide also.
Where do you get one of those ? Model please
Can be use a lathe top slide also.
Good idea on the Mic. What increments are you going by? From your movements of your wrist it looks about .010 each time?
One turn is 0.5mm, the accuracy is very high.

Never use the side of a grinding wheel for any grinding operation. Period!
It's all about safety. A grinding wheel was never intended for grinding operations on the side of the wheel because grinding from the side decreases the thickness of the wheel and can influence it's balance. How is anybody going to dress the side of the wheel if it's out of balance without decreasing the thickness even more? Have you seen a wheel disintegrating at high speed?
@@pieterbotes8938 I have heard this but never understood why. Trouble is in this case the sharpener wouldn't work as its grinding the tip against a curve? Having said that Im sure Ive seen lathe and mill tool grinders that use the side of the wheel?
@@campbellmorrison8540 Brother, people will sell anything to you (especially the Chinese - they copy absolutely everything) irrespective of safety aspects. Anyway, there are different types of grinding wheels and they all have their specific use. For instance, you get a cup wheel and a normal wheel for a bench grinder. Both are used for a different purposes, but it was designed to be used in a specific way. It's obviously your personal choice how you use it. If something goes wrong and you get hurt, you can only blame yourself.
@@pieterbotes8938 Thank you, the older I get the more I am aware of what can go wrong and how our good luck runs out. I really appreciate your reality check
@@campbellmorrison8540 Brother, I think it is important to rather inform people about dangers that could turn into disaster in a split second. Happy grinding.
Your Cheating or your attachment has an attachment mine doesn't and I have not see before.

After adding a micrometer. grinding drill effect is very good, but always produce a circular arc pit on the stone, always need wash the stone, so I add a small slide at the bottom, in order to grind in different positions of the stone, it should be Will reduce the number of stone washings.
