  • We thought we’d try this video thing out for a week. It’s a brilliantly honest chat with actor and musician Jacob Anderson.

I'm coming from his role as Louis de Pointe du Lac in AMC's interview with the vampire, and I'm less familiar with Jacob as a musician. He's almost shockingly honest. There was such genuine warmth coming off him. He took his time to ponder the questions and gave thoughtful answers. Kudos to the host for being an attentive listener and navigated the conversation with care and skill.

Yes, “shockingly honest” … he’s always so wonderfully vulnerable. There is such strength in his vulnerability.

This man is a genius. He writes, sings and he's an actor.

Genius CANNOT be taught. It is an innate dynamic. Music IS NOT intellectual. Music is EVERYWHERE❣️

I only knew of Jacob through his acting (GOT/IWTV), but have since listened to his music, watched his interviews and come to appreciate what a genuine, beautiful, giving human being he really is, which is exactly what was captured in this searingly honest conversation. Kudos to the host for lending a compassionate ear and easing the rawest moments with sensitive humour, it was a pleasure to watch. Jacob deserves all the good things in life, and he will definitely be helping someone somewhere every time he speaks from the heart. Love this guy.

Never have I connected with a person as much as I do with Jacob Anderson. I discovered the music part of his career and now I literally listen to it everyday. Great actor as well but please never let that music die out!

I liked Jacob's music because its honest and it resonates with me. He didn't feel like a product, he came off as genuine,. I'm glad he didn't give in

I really appreciate the truth that he puts into his music. My partner and I listen to him and are both mentally ill. I've said that his music sounds real, it sounds raw, and that's what I like about it. If I can relate to something in that way, and really feel it, like even cry along with it, then that's when it makes me the happiest.
thanks for this great interview and for your truth Jacob

(Finishing up, watching) and trust mi, Jay....*LIFE IS A FUCKING DISTRACTION FROM LIFE* . i totally get the "walking contradiction" you were talking about in the ending part of the session. The first thing that came to mind when you said that was, they (institutions like family, church, society in general ) tell you to get a job, be honest, have 2.5 kids n white picket fence, status matters, maybe it's MAYBELINE lol, look attractive, be fit, buy buy buy, accomplish!....Yet, none of it matters really! If we lose our jobs, divorce, go bankrupt, plateau, lose our looks etc, take away all these variables, we're still an entity! Plus the conspiracy side of me feels like we do what we're told, yet 1% undermine the system and end up still superseding us, so it's like, why even bother being all these honest things.....anyhoo, i digress into the rabbit hole, hence i get why you keep those "headsets" on.

Pertaining to the stigma of being an actor n crossing over to music @1:00:00 in convo, i was honestly apprehensive at first when i popped up on him on youtube. I think i watched stronger than ever to criticize the "actor" wannabe "singer" ... but il, be dammed! I was genuinely blown away by the whole composition, from the video, his acting being blown away lol, the rich orchestral infusion, the lyrics etc. I'm just happy i continued digging n ended up loving everything his raspy bristol accent touches

(Okay, just finished watching ). ... this was cathartic for me too, man! No ass kissing BS but when i came across your songs and delved into them, it was like that "cinematic darkroom" for me too, where i vicariously lived through your emotions that you put out on your sleeves, while simultaneously reflecting on my own.
On a different note, I've always wondered how you're so fluid with expressing yourself in your songs, but (no offense ) lack articulating your thoughts when being interviewed. You mentioned feeling safety being a paramount variable i see that now... you have pent up ideas, yet you're guarded, so you're slow to, or selective in giving info, so it may be misconstrued as lacking interviewing skiils. I feel like Even if u profess the stage name R.R. you're still exposing J.A. and it's not like a Nicki minaj persona that can keep to the script of being a "barbie ting". ..e.g. i noticed when the interviewer was building up to give you the floor on exposing what was the "whiteflag, im drowning, need help" scenario for you and you barely cracked the surface with a small example of drinking on the job, back then. It's not that you don't trust him, but you still have to be guarded cuz info is leaving that room and transmitting to us, the public. .....and ohhhhh how we know tabloids and keyboard-warriors are inhumane, unforgiving, and intentionally misconstrue a point. Sometimes i wish we could telepathically transmit our thoughts to each other, in a clump so we don't have to explain back stories, for current stories, without offending anyone or causing any misconception, cuz even this platform of youtube in the comment section can be inundating, just to get a point across! So many intersections and context to contend with, and im already lost in trying to keep a sense of chronological order, then the goddam tangents loool..... my point is, im coming to the See you at the Toronto Show ! I'M Coming to rock out In that "dark room" at Mod Club... Wish you could Chop it up with your fans but I understand it Won't be the best forum for that, So we'll settle for the high fives😊

@1:06:26 i remembered the therapists getting your name wrong, reference in your song! X-D see why i like his music! It felt genuine, even when i had no way of knowing or proving if things really did happen or it's made up

Video feedback - I found the moving shots really distracting whilst trying to listen to the conversation. Maybe just set up two cameras (or three if possible), one wide, one on the guest and one on Craig and leave them in one spot. Great interview as always!
