We owe these people, and all who dealt with this disaster, a huge debt. Without their service and sacrifice, this would have been much, much worse for all of us on the planet.
What’s so devastating is the age of most of these individuals. Low to mid 20s walking into literally hell on earth, knowing there was danger but not knowing the extent of that danger. Imaging being a 23 year old kid, part of a fire team thinking you are going to fight a fire then having your body ripped apart at the molecular level by ionized radiation you didn’t even know was going to affect you. These poor hero’s couldn’t even be given morphine or pain killers as their vascular systems were simply melting and disintegrating inside them, with the nerve system being the last effected. The pain and fear incomprehensible. A bullet would have been mercy.
Bless them! I did t know that they couldn’t be given anything for the pain… I guess I just assumed that they would have been, basically, put into some sort of medically induced coma until they passed away. Knowing, now, that they suffered immensely until their last, breaks my heart even more. 💔💔💔

Absolutely devastating. Years later it still lingers. 🙏🕊️❤️
Thank you my friend. 😊
It, truly, is… we will be paying for all this for the rest of time… 💔💔💔
I'm looking forward to this... I'll be there!
THANK YOU!!! And thank you, so much, for modding for me!!!
What an awful way to die. And knowing the Russians as we do, there were probably many more deaths they chose not to report.
I agree… and it seemed like all the people who did die in the 1st wave didn’t willingly, in the hopes of saving others… 💔💔💔
