I worked with Kwame in the A-APRP for 7 years until his transition. What people don't know about him is that he had a great sense of humor. He always knew how to make us laugh. That is rare for someone who engaged in such serious political work every day of his life, and it taught me the necessity to continue work in the revolutionary struggle for Pan-Africanism.

Nova Knowself Kwame Ture has said that he and the AAPRP called for the use of the term "African" in the late 1970s and that the old civil rights guard turned that around and turned it into "African-American." He did not use or approve of African-American.

That doesn’t make him a joke. You can’t take a house or a car with you when you die. He was one of the people who spearheaded the civil rights movement. He is one of the reasons a Black person in America can sit, eat, shit where they want and vote. He has been dead for over 20 years, but you know of him and came across the video. I’m not even American and know of him. He’s known across the world. Oh, they were coming after him. He moved to Ghana in 1968 (?) both because he wanted to build something (as opposed to just trying to destroy something) and to avoid being murdered. With that said, he insisted that his cancer was given to him by the CIA, which means they did get him.
