    Wowww - faultless performance of this lovely piece by Eric Jones. It's a 'show-stopper'. All four parts were very clear and very well disciplined throughout the piece. Quieter passages were equally as lovely as the louder ones and the build-up to the ending was super. Great conductor and accompanist too - it's high up on my favourites list and it's a 'tour-de-force' for this choir. Da iawn pawb!

    A pleasure to listen to this piece and to hear the choir pronounce the word 'Tangnefeddwyr' correctly. Ardderchog.

    Waldo Williams was a conscientious objector and pacifist, and when, from some distance, he saw Swansea in flames after the 1941 Blitz he was moved to write his poem Y Tangnefeddwyr/The Peacemakers. It explains that in the midst of the mayhem of WWII, peacemakers are the children of God.

    Even more appropriate today a year after I wrote my original message given the situation in Ukraine. Sing on! I listen to this frequently and sing along. A lot of the views have been mine.

    Beautiful. I noticed that they say "tangneddwyr" differently than Cor Glanaethwy. Is that a north/south thing?

    • @shogun2215
      @shogun2215 5 лет назад +2

      Actually no, Glanaethwy actually pronounce it incorrectly. They say 'Tangnefeddwr', which is the individual pronounciation.

      It's a "wir" on the end of Tangnefeddwyr and not an "ooor". The exaggeration of the 'w' too long 'oooo' does not create a pleasant sound in my opinion. I realise that a 'w' is an 'oo' in Welsh but it is not always long.

    Fantastic song and very well sang. Is there an English translation to this song as I am sure that I have heard this before, possibly by the Salvation Army?

      ***** Many thanks, a really great help and very much appreciated. I have now played this video so many times and enjoy it every time. I wish the choir every success in the future.
