  • Sefydlwyd Côr Llanddarog a’r Cylch gan Meinir Richards fel parti merched yn y lle cyntaf, a hynny er mwyn cystadlu fel parti gwerin yn yr Ŵyl Gerdd Dant yng Nghaerfyrddin yn 2001. Ond buan y trôdd y parti merched yn gôr cymysg, a bellach mae yna dros hanner cant o aelodau, gyda nifer helaeth ohonynt naill ai’n byw, neu â chysylltiadau teuluol â’r ardal. Mae’r côr yn perfformio’n gyson mewn cyngherddau, ac yn aml yn paratoi gwaith estynedig ar gyfer rhyw achlysur penodol. Maent hefyd wedi cystadlu droeon yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol, gan ennill y gystadleuaeth i gorau cymysg dros 45 o leisiau dair blynedd yn olynol rhwng 2010 a 2012. Yn ogystal â chystadlu, mae’r côr wedi cyfrannu swm sylweddol o arian at elusennau lleol a chenedlaethol dros y blynyddoedd, gan gynnwys cyflwyno rhan o wobrau’r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol bob tro i ‘Amser JustinTime’ Elusen Cancr Pancreas Cymru.
    The Llanddarog and District Choir was initially formed by Meinir Richards as a ladies party to compete in the folk song competition in the Cerdd Dant Festival in Carmarthen in 2001. But the party soon evolved into a mixed choir, and there are now more than fifty members, with many of them either living, or with family connections with the area. The choir performs regularly in concerts, and often learn extended works for specific events. They have also competed a number of times in the National Eisteddfod, having won the mixed choir competition for 45+ members three years in succession between 2010 and 2012. As well as competing, the choir has contributed a substantial amount of money to local and national charities over the years, including donating some of the National Eisteddfod prize money to ‘ Justin Time’, the Pancreatic Cancer Charity for Wales.

    A pleasure to listen to this piece and to hear the choir pronounce the word 'Tangnefeddwyr' correctly. Ardderchog.

    Wowww - faultless performance of this lovely piece by Eric Jones. It's a 'show-stopper'. All four parts were very clear and very well disciplined throughout the piece. Quieter passages were equally as lovely as the louder ones and the build-up to the ending was super. Great conductor and accompanist too - it's high up on my favourites list and it's a 'tour-de-force' for this choir. Da iawn pawb!

    Even more appropriate today a year after I wrote my original message given the situation in Ukraine. Sing on! I listen to this frequently and sing along. A lot of the views have been mine.

    Waldo Williams was a conscientious objector and pacifist, and when, from some distance, he saw Swansea in flames after the 1941 Blitz he was moved to write his poem Y Tangnefeddwyr/The Peacemakers. It explains that in the midst of the mayhem of WWII, peacemakers are the children of God.

    Fantastic song and very well sang. Is there an English translation to this song as I am sure that I have heard this before, possibly by the Salvation Army?

    Beautiful. I noticed that they say "tangneddwyr" differently than Cor Glanaethwy. Is that a north/south thing?

    • @shogun2215
      @shogun2215 5 лет назад +2

      Actually no, Glanaethwy actually pronounce it incorrectly. They say 'Tangnefeddwr', which is the individual pronounciation.

      It's a "wir" on the end of Tangnefeddwyr and not an "ooor". The exaggeration of the 'w' too long 'oooo' does not create a pleasant sound in my opinion. I realise that a 'w' is an 'oo' in Welsh but it is not always long.
