What a beautiful but oldie song , as a kid growing up in Ireland this was a very popular song: it brings back so many memories, John is such a beautiful performer and so easy to listen to, love it
Poignantly sung. John does this one better than any I have heard. I only discovered him quite lately and can't get enough. He picks up vocally where Phil Coulter left off with all of those great instrumentals. Between 'Liverpool' and 'The Dark Island' I'm just in awe. Thank you for opening my ears to this gem...

Dermott Studio This song is really lovely. Showcases that beautiful voice and the perfect diction. John is one of the few singers that you can understand all the lyrics. I also love When You Were Sweet Sixteen. That is also a very emotional performance by the Boy Singer. I am trying to get some friends to visit your RUclips page and subscribe. No, thank you, getting the word out is helping my channel... And John McDermotts reputation. It just kills me that this talented man, who has nothing but passion for singing isn't as popular as say Nicki Manaj (Who by the way has no vocal talent at all). And I don't know about perfect diction, listen to Scotland the Brave or Ye Banks and Breas. They are both somewhat difficult to understand the first time round ;)
Dermott Studio Those two songs are when John is "putting on his Scottish". haha He once spoke "Glaswegian" at a concert in Peterborough and I had not a clue what the hell he said. He laughed. But if you listen to most of his older CDs and the recordings of John with the Irish Tenors, HIS is the voice you can understand. Anthony has a lovely voice but his English is hard to follow. No comment at all regarding Ronan :) It is my pleasure to get people to listen to John. He should be much more well known all over the world and not just for his Celtic songs. The voice is so unique and the heart in each song? wow. I once told him he should hire me for publicity :) His reaction, why hire you? You do it for free. :) haha Funny man.
