Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! In this video I am looking back at the year in the garden. Not everything was perfect, but it was definitely fun. My goal was to get back to basics and that proved to be a great decision. Thank you for watching my videos and being part of this amazing gardening community. I'm excited for the Spring garden already. Happy gardening! 💚
Thank you Sue, and Merry Christmas to you as well. I cannot wait for the revived garden that comes with springtime. It's nice to have a little break though.
Love how you are ministering to your Mom. Enjoyed your video and will be checking out your book club :) Your garden is beautiful and I love your vision of it as a sanctuary.
I love that your mother enjoys gardening with you. I lost my mother 2 and half years ago. It really broke me in ways that can't be repaired. I planted a tree in her memory. And now do in memory of family and friends. Much love for your mother 💝
Sorry for your pain; I understand. I garden with my mom in my mind, talk to her & sometimes cry - like right now. Carry her around with you - tuck her right in your pocket. ❤
I am sorry to hear about your mother. So heartbreaking. What a wonderful idea to plant a tree is her memory. Thanks so much for your note and for being here.
Hi I'm just subscribed to your channel goodness gee whiz it touch me profoundly specially after losing my mother this year she was 56 from a brain aneurysm. I will miss the unconditional love from her. She was who I ran to when I needed help and guidance on my life. So I felt so lost I did not know what to do and watching gardening videos on here and working on my garden has helped me find my way back to myself and grounded me so that I do not feel as lost and disconnected from the world as I have been. Specially when you said that the most beautiful things come from the smallest of things .
Oh my goodness. I am sorry to hear about my your Mom's sudden passing. My sincere condolences. Another viewer mentioned losing their Mom recently too. So sad. The most beautiful things do come from the smallest beginnings. I am glad you have found peace in your garden. It is wonderful to have you here on the channel.
@GardenMoxie Thank you so much your garden is beautiful I love how you have a little bit of formality with the boxwood. Look great all year providing some structure.
Seeing your mom gardening my hope is that one day a caring person will assist me to continue to plant. Be in a garden . You and I share the same thoughts for living . Thank you.
What a beautiful, gentle video. Your garden is beautiful - no gimmicks, no 'quirky' distractions, just thoughtfully planned plantings that demonstrate your artistry and love. Gillian, Whanganui, New Zealand 😊
Beautifully said, reflective and soothing. You have a gift in the way you share and express the gifts of gardening. Thank you for sharing. Happy holidays to you!
I just found you. I love the calming way you speak, and the things you say. It’s how I am, and hearing others who garden & share their journey is very encouraging. Thank you so much. ❤️🪴🌱🐛🦋🐞🐝🌸🌼🌺
Hello and thanks so much for your note. I am so glad you found the channel. I'm trying to create a gardening community where we share our lessons and help one another.
Thank you for a delightful and inspirational video! Many of my plants came from my mother's garden and are a constant reminder of our shared joy in seeing plants grow. I am going to dream about spring and plan along with you. My seeds arrived this week along with a new tool - a soil blocker the size I saw you use in your video. I am excited to experiment with this new-to-me method of growing 300 seedlings in one tray! Last year I discovered that the seeds of fall flowering plants bloomed the first year they were sown and that spring flowering plants take more patience. They grew the basal leaves and now I anticipate the first blooms this spring!
How exciting. I am also looking forward to starting seeds. I think you will love soil blocking. It sounds like you have an awesome garden. Thanks for watching.
I'm glad to chance upon this particular video of yours. It affirms what I've been doing the past year to present...appreciating the beauty of every new growth, the sprouting of seeds, the propagations...thank you 😊
Wow, you put into words how I feel, but don't know quite how to express. Wonderful, peaceful video. Thanks for the reflections, and so sweet to see your mom enjoying the garden.
Thank you for watching. It was a great year in the garden with my Mom. We especially loved growing plants from seed. We are excited for the new season to start.
Another great video; thanks for the ideas & great video content; it's such a joy how you teach & inspire your viewers. I also enjoy using my property to teach where I live adjacent to a salt marsh. I'm not smartly dressed like you, though. 😅 Gardening with my mom; what a beautiful treasure box of memories! Mom got me started & we so enjoyed time together & each others' gardens! As she got older, I took on her garden - secret gardens & surprises - she was so tickled & thankful. ❤ Oh boy! I just signed up for your winter book club. Yay! All the best to you from your fan in Virginia Beach, VA. 🎉
The year-long journey in the video is so amazing! 💚 It was great to be able to empathize and learn together how time in the garden inspired and healed her.
Incredible garden, sharing it to find a bridge for your Mom, and your calm voice explaining what you’re up to just set the tone for me today. Thank you!!❤
Thank you for reminding me of the beauty in getting back to basics and growing plants from seeds. It's a wonderful way to reconnect with nature and nurture life from the very start.
Sue, this video truly brought me some peace and made me think for the upcoming season. It’s time to relax and simplify my life in the garden more. Be more resourceful and not need to keep up with the jones any longer. I can’t wait to see your time in the garden next year
Hey Brad! Merry Christmas. Thanks so much for watching the video. I know you are like me and counting the days until you can get back into your gorgeous garden.
Wonderfully said! Last year for the first time, I realized how I have created a space that depends on me. There is a whole ecosystem that you might say expects certain plants to be there. This year I hope to expand that responsibility with a smile ! Happy Holidays !
I just came across your video for the first time and subscribed. Looking forward to you book club and learning from others. I am a master gardener (5 yrs) and always room to learn from others. I love that your mom enjoyed gardening. It is a classroom isn't it? I love that.
Hello and thanks for subscribing. It is great having you here. Thank you also for signing up for the book club. I think we are going to have fun this winter. Gardening is the best!
I really enjoyed your video and loved seeing your mom. My mom passed not long ago and she loved sitting in my screen house and she called it the “Veranda.” So I think of her all the time but especially in the “Veranda.” I look forward to the book club. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas. I am sorry to hear about your Mom. I am sure she left a space in your heart. Thanks for joining the book club. I think we are going to have fun!
I did sign up for the book club, however, I'm new to this channel and I'm in central Texas zone 8B and still excited to see what can work for you folks may work for me here in zone 8b. although I am a master gardener there are always techniques and styles we all can share and learn from each other.
Hello and thank you for signing up for the book club. I think there will be lots of garden design related subjects you will find helpful. I am going to be focusing on plants that grow in the Midwest, but many of those plants do well across different growing zones. I think it will be fun. Thanks for watching the video.
Thank you. I love watching all those pollinators out there. I am always amazed at how many insects hang out. I don't spray anything so it makes me feel happy they visit.
I am in northern Indiana and this year I got going in the warm snap back in January/February. I had a snafu with the garden notes app I was using not working with a phone update, so I shifted all my notes to a new Google sheets. I realized my notes really weren't great. I did a little here and there, but it had lost most of the photos, and I didnt always remember. Ive taken so many more notes this year even when a broken foot had me down from late April through June. I could still observe and take notes. Hoping to make many more notes in the coming year and learn more about design and growing.
That is disappointing to lose your work, isn't it. I am not good about note taking. It is a very valuable gardening skill if you have the discipline. I try to get tons of photos, but as I mentioned, I need to up my game this upcoming season. Thanks for watching.
@GardenMoxie lol, yeah, I'm not great at the notes, that was why I originally started trying to do video clips. Eventually I started making notes for editing me and then was like, I'm not getting enough done with the foot between videos to warrant updates for people. Lol. Hoping next year I can do walkthroughs even if it's just straight footage. So I have both.
Thank you for this touching video and narration, what a perfect way to close out the gardening year and to ground ourselves in why we all connect with our gardens. I'm excited to forge new gardening friendships through your book club. Appreciating your generosity in sharing yourself and your garden with us. Best wishes, Stephanie (Victoria, BC, Canada).
Two things: 1. I live in a place where it’s not feasible to grow plants during the winter. I always saw it as a waiting period until spring / summer so I could grow my plants, but instead it’s just a DIFFERENT season to grow plants. Valuable insight. 2. The importance of sharing gardening with others. In my life, gardening is primarily my interest and I don’t have anyone else to share it with aside from a simple “oh that’s nice”. The community aspect really makes it a conversation topic, a bonding topic, and something much deeper than just growing plants. Wishing you health and a happy 2025 for both you and your mum
Your videos are always so soothing and therapeutic, I can only imagine what it would feel like strolling through your beautiful garden. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Merry Christmas 🎄and thank you for the wonderful content and perspective ❤ Your garden is wonderful! People who garden always have something to look forward to, a connection to nature and its processes and a place to escape the world, if only for a moment. It’s a labour of love, anticipation, humility, hope, serenity and sometimes frustration. An ever changing tapestry that is never truly finished, offering new ‘pictures’ with every season. What beauty awaits in each tiny seed! Amazing!
Merry Christmas Sue and looking forward to your expectant eradication with your box moth situation. Hope your renovation/transition of your quadrants meets your desires. It all takes time, but true gardeners are a patient lot. All the best for your success. Wendy
Merry Christmas!🎄 I enjoyed this very peaceful video, thank you! It’s so true, it’s so satisfying seeing results from the tiniest beginnings! 😊 it was lovely seeing your Mom putting in your garden. I’m hoping to bring my Mom from Toronto to my Northern Illinois garden this spring. I think it will bring back happy memories of her past garden.
Merry Christmas, Sue, what a lovely year in review! I so appreciate your channel, and I'm looking forward to the book club. I've been reading In Your Garden by V. Sackville-West, this is a great addition to my garden book collection. I have made some notes already about color and plant combinations already. Thank you so much again for your channel, it is enriching ❤
Hello! Thanks so much. I am looking forward to the book club too! Thanks for signing up. I love that Vita Sackville-West book too. I am on the lookout for all the books in the series now.
I enjoy the informative, calming nature of your videos. And your narration style and tone remind me of Martha Stewart, which is a good thing. 😊 Thanks for your thoughts and information. Happy Holidays!
Nice review! You sure carved out a nice miniature scale of the formal gardens you love. I’m trying to keep out the wildlife 😅. I spotted one wire cage-expand that and you have my garden areas😂. Not lovely to look at here, but at least I get to see the plants develop. Nothing worse than either spending money on a plant or the time it took to raise it and Poof! It’s gone. You’re lucky the wildlife pressure is low. I’m still wondering how to protect a hydrangea near the house without a 6’ fence. Nice to see your mom and enjoy the holiday season. Merry Christmas!🎄
Thank you and Merry Christmas. Wildlife pressure is so tough. I struggle quite a bit with ground hogs so I can appreciate your struggle. Thanks so much for watching.
@ 😮groundhogs! Yikes! We had to live trap a family of them that burrowed a giant hole under the cement stoop at SIL’s house and it was just weeks before they were selling the house. They lived in town at the edge of the woods. I was shocked they were in town.
Great video. I’m looking forward to next years garden. I have a question about a plant you have in the pollinator garden it was about 2:23 on the video it’s white dainty flowers blowing in the breeze. Can you tell me what that is? Thank you
Hello and thanks for watching. That white flowering plant is a bladder campion (Silene vulgaris). I have no idea what variety because it showed up in my garden on its own. It is native here and likley considered a "weed". I love it and let it stay. It is a great plant in my garden.
What a lovely garden you have, thank you for sharing. Can you tell me if you overwinter your Tradescantia pallida aka “Purple Heart” plant? I saw your beautiful collection at the start of this video and was curious as I too collect Tradescantia💜
Thank you. I take cuttings of the purple heart plants in the fall and keep them growing under grow lights in my basement so they are ready to plant out in the spring. They are great plants for containers. And I love having plants to care for during the winter.
Hello. I am not having the seed starting challenge this season, but I will be sharing the seed growing details on the channel as we move into spring. Thanks for being here.
@ ah ok. I was thinking I could organize a seed growing challenge for my fb garden group so I was hoping you had the steps you took written down somewhere.
@@CeeCee630 Send me an email and I would be happy to set up a time we can chat on the phone and I am happy to share the take aways from the challenge. I highly recommend you start one. It was really fun! My email is in my channel's RUclips description.
Wow! That is cold over there in the snowiest place I know of...ha ha. I don't want to brag, but it is a balmy 34 deg F here. I'm glad the roads will be okay for driving tomorrow. Merry Christmas!
Your book club sounds interesting, however…..Is your website for the book club not working ? When I go to the link, there is nothing except the menu. Clicking on book club and also nothing.
I am sorry to hear you are having problems. I did try it out just now and it appears to be working. That doesn't mean it is working for you I understand. If you still have trouble, feel free to send me an email and you and I can figure out how to get you added to the list. It would be great to have you join. Thanks for your interest and thanks for letting me know you were having a problem. Hopefully we can get it sorted.
Lovely garden. Please tell us that you are not throwing away your clippings in those paper Home Depot bags! Composting is easy, environmentally beneficial and provides free "brown gold" for your garden.
Hello and thanks for watching. There is not enough space to compost all the clippings in my garden and my city has a wonderful composting program. I know tons of people that use the compost offered from our city each season for free. No fears. Nothing will go to waste.
hello Sue; Do you have time for a question ? What's the wispy blue flowers in the video at around 1:01 time? I think I have that as well but I don't know the name of it and I'd like to increase the amount of it I have . Thank you and Merry Christmas .🎄
Hello and thanks for watching. Merry Christmas. The light blue flowers are forget-me-nots (Myosotis sylvatica). They are biennials. I get mine to bloom every season by letting them go to seed and grow into seedlings the first season. The baby plants grow below the plants that already in the garden. Once they bloom, they get removed. They are easy to grow from seed that you plant right in the garden. They are my absolute favorite spring flower.
@ I don't recall ever planting them they might've been there from before I bought the house 20 years ago and I've never done anything with them really so it's all happening by the grace of God and squirrels😂

Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Try taking a screen shot from your video. It works very well for me. Happy Christmas 🇦🇺
Happy Christmas and thanks for watching!
Enjoyed your viideo.
Thank you and thanks for watching.
I just found you. Peerfect!!
Yay! Thanks for watching.
@@dustyflats3832 They are a challenge.
Nice. ❤
Thanks for watching
Gorgeous touching video Thanks so much new viewer and subscriber!
Hello and thanks so much for watching and subscribing to my channel. I appreciate it.
❤ beautiful
Thanks for watching.
Ooh, can you please give some details on how you set up your seedling challenge?
@ hi, Sue. I was able to send you an email through your website. Looking forward to chatting soon!
@@CeeCee630 Thanks. I will take a look and get back to you ASAP.

Wow! That is cold over there in the snowiest place I know of...ha ha. I don't want to brag, but it is a balmy 34 deg F here. I'm glad the roads will be okay for driving tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

Thanks for watching.
Just found you and subscribed 👋
Hey thanks! I appreciate that. Thanks for watching.

@@NitaP1569 Yay! Thanks for signing up.
@@GardenMoxie Great to hear your city offers that service. Wish more communities did the same!
hello Sue;
Do you have time for a question ?
Beautiful! Looking forward to book club. Happy holidays!
@@irinas9946 Yay!!
I think I may have signed up twice. Sorry if I’ve caused a bit of a problem.
Hi Carol. That is not a problem at all. I will take a look. Thanks for signing up.
