- This video shows you how to connect a laptop to a TV using a HDMI cable. THis will allow to you view and access anything on your laptop on your TV and can make non Smart TV's - Smart. As you will be able to use the web browser to access things like RUclips, iPlayer, Amazon Prime & Netflix on your TV screen.
Hey Tom thank you so much, you have been a proper signal/hdmi saver today as well as saving me loads of £££'s. I spent this morning connecting a replacement TV Aerial having found your online site "Smart Aerials" and the information given in using my mobile phone to line up the aerial to the "Transmitter" so simple to understand and carry out! I then started to look at freeview boxes and recorders which then got me looking at Smart TV's (due to the costs involved of a decent freeview box). I came across your RUclips channel again by chance and the video about using the laptop hdmi port again a BIG THANK YOU. May I please ask a couple of questions.....
1) Is it possible to be viewing something via the hdmi port while using the laptop for something completely different?
2) What cable should I use to hard wire a signal from my internet router to a "socket" in a seperate room in the house?
Thanks in anticipation of a reply and making today such a productive one.
Regards Paul
finally an usefull video
This was really helpful thank you! And I like the natural friendly style :)

Hi, have same type of TV as yours (samsung) happy with the source for HDMI etc, but on one TV i have no output at all to the HDMI source on TV (and tried all 4 HDMI sources whilst laptop connected) and on a 2nd TV it worked straight away....but only the picture...the sound is still playing out of the laptop? Have been hunting around in the sound settings on the laptop but to no joy.
my non smart samsung tv doesn't detect my HP laptop . What do I do now?
that is great thank you I will give it ago

It would've been more helpful if you didn't talk so much with irrelevancies & have clear & concise instructions. It would also help if you had clear zoom-ins when outlining options.
Half your buttons are not visible on the TV can you show us how to shrink it so all buttons are visible. Thanks
hello, i have problem because audio is coming from my laptop, no TV. I remember that maybe 4 years ago when i connected another laptop to same TV as now with HDMI sound was from TV. (i haven't anything when i go to playback devices and check show disable and disconnected) please help
Hi Harry, it's most likely a setting in windows that is doing this. I will have a look for something relevant tomorrow.
My tv not functional why???? I have a pc laptop a1160 and with cable hdmi not functional why?
I subscribed but can you tell me something please can you do sky go over it???
HI Paul. Yes, just put Sky Go up on the laptop and HDMI out to the TV.
Very helpful. Would I be able to watch my own videos that are on my laptop, on my tv?
Yes same method, just play the movie on the laptop.
@@smartaerials Many thanks for getting back to us. Much appreciated.
My chromebook and non smart tv is connected by hdmi the tv isnt responding when i do something on the laptop is there any help for this?
For mine u have to play a RUclips video or movie but u have to shut you lap top u can’t have it open other wise it won’t show on the tv it’s weird but works
As long as it works! maybe a setting in the laptop - I don't know.
A quicker way to switch to the TV (if it doesn't do so automatically) is to hold down the Windows key (between Ctrl & Alt keys) and press P.
Brilliant, thanks Steve. I will remember that one.
Isn't that more for a wireless connection? To project?
I tried pressing the keys you mention but it comes out "your PC can't project to another screen. Try reinstalling the driver or using a different video card" on my laptop. I've use the same laptop & cable to connect 1 year ago but unsuccessful this time. What should I do?
Thanks
