@@Kat-bu3bn I am betting the daughter talked them into it and said with the extra money we can add all kinds of extras to that garage...But I don't get these garages converted to a living space...They don't have water built in for showers and such so it shouldn't be called livable...Hell, when someone set my home on fire, I had to put plywood all over the windows and I shut off the water because we also noticed when looking at it after the fire that someone had been trying to steal the pipes so I turned off the water...The city code enforcement violated me saying that no running water makes the place non livable and if not fixed they can bulldoze the house...Maybe they were mad after someone tried to turn a corner too fast and ran up onto my property when they lost control and smashed into my car so hard that it pushed it sideways into our other car...It was an older car so I just let it in my driveway...I eventually get a letter from code enforcement saying you cannot have a car with visible damage that can be seen from the street. So I said, if I cover the damage with a tarp then that meets the guidelines of seeing it from the street correct? They said yes but that's not what they want. I said I don't care what you want...I want what I am allowed to do. And if covering it with a tarp meets the guidelines...That is what I am going to do...
Asshat neighbors didn't notice when people broke in and stole everything left in the house including a 55 inch tv...Those old box tv's that was about 5 feet tall 4 feet width and 2 feet deep...But let me send workers over there and they call the cops...Got to the point that I had to tell the workers to expect the cops to show up and just have them call me. After a while they knew who I was and didn't need to stop by my place to verify I was who I said I was...So they would call and say did you hire people? Yes? Ok thanks...

@Gunnerb52 I think most of those rooms in the garages are on the down low. Maybe they were doing this one correctly since they were pulling permits, and adding plumbing to it. Sorry for your run of bad luck. Hope things are better for you.

Hell, even Title should not have paid for the garage, because the buyers could see there is no garage.

I believe the plaintiff was being charged for the defendant not purchasing the permit to take down garage. Before they could pay for their permit they had to pay for his permit to take down. I think that's what they wanted reimbursed. I think they should have at least gotten reimbursed for the permit they had to pay for defendant illegally taking down garage. As soon as the judge heard that they had title insurance she didn't want to hear anything else. Yes, they actually made out but where still owed for the permit they had to pay for the defendant taking fown the garage illegally.
