favorite part of this video is the intensity and mind games between these two. brutally physical yet nobody backing down. we just never see this anymore between superstars.
Some guys simply don't understand how defense works. The fist game Chris Paul had forced a fast pace that enabled the Hornets to score 109 points (kind of like 125pts in today's game). CP3 had 33 and 14, whereas Kobe had 34. Kobe decided to guard CP3 to slow down the pace so that it favored the Lakers strength, which is why the next game had such low scoring.
This game was crazy intense. The lakers looked bad tho.. definitely old & worn down. Kinda glad my cable got cutoff so I couldnt see any Laker playoff games that year. Shit looks hard to watch
I'm hoping that Scott can ordain Kobe to put a bigger backseat on offense - at least forcing him to be as shot-conservative from bad shots as he was in this game - and to give more chief emphasis on the defensive end... It's been proven to be more conducive to winning when he's done so.
Yeah nice try buddy more like 45% and 13 points less than game one and was only able to put 11 shot attempts. You're too dialed ok the stats, Cp3 was the only scorer on this team and that was his main task in this series was to score. Unlike you i watched this series live and Kobe was very disruptive as you can see in this video it's not just about on ball defense. It's the work you do off the ball that makes a difference as well and cp3 could rarely even get a hold of the ball with Kobe on him. Even when he did get the ball he would have to work very hard to get a good shot off. He threw cp3 off balance and was in his head the whole game . Nice try tho.
@@BerserkerGuts_Kobe was getting cooked when CP3 had the ball they adjusted their defense as a team to be more aggressive on CP3 sending more doubles and forcing him to drive into the paint. They weren’t giving up nearly as many switches compared to Game 1. Don’t overrate Kobe’s defense
LOL i thought I was the only one to notice. kobe is wearing a jersey that is one size smaller than what he usually wears. The reason why he looked a little more muscular than usual.
Definitely overrated. Cant even get out the 2nd round with Blake Griffin in a watered down league Kevin Johnson took a 5 seed team with 0 Hall of Famers to the 1990 WCF, and he beat MVP Magic Johnson with HoF Worthy, DPOY Cooper, and HoF Coach Pat Riley with the best record in the league KJ = only player along with Oscar + Isiah to average 20-10 for 3 straight seasons, could have tied them with 4 straight seasons but barely missed it
While I agree Cp3 is overrated, he is a better player than Kj. If he had a match up with KJ in the watered down 90's, he would abuse him. No zone will have Cp3 freely coming of screens and on tiring KJ all night. P&R offense was much more effective against no zone. Plus on D he would lock KJ up, especially with the ability to handcheck Cp3 is a great 1 on 1 defender.

Jason Bourne naw, Carmelo takes that title. dude has completely given up on winning a ring and says olympic medals are more important to him. at least Chris Paul tries.
You're not paying attention to the off ball defense. Cp3 had 33 points in game 1 with 11 out of 19 shot attempts. Kobe wouldn't even let paul touch the ball in this game he shot 5 for 11 and had 20 points. Big difference, very dsiruptive.
Who have you seen play better defense on Chris Paul? And this is an old Kobe 😂 CP3 is a top 10 pg all time and one of the best scoring point guards as far as being able to score one on one, who have you ever seen lock him up one on one? Holding a great player well below their average and stopping them from taking over the game is lock up defense
Kobe would lock curry up in his prime. This championship lakers team had a stacked lineup and had everything you could ask for. They had Kobe best player in the league at the time, The twin towers in Pau Gasol and Bynum in the paint grabbing boards and posting up in a triangle offense, Prime Ron Artest playing lockdown defense, Odom as the 6th man, The very fast extremely athletic hustle player Shannon Brown, Jordan farmar great back up pg, Derek Fisher clutch and a leader on the floor, Sasha with the 3s, and the greatest of all time Luke Walton (jk) Plus add on PHIL Jackson the greatest coach In sports history (not kidding) running a triangle offense. Yeah no way the Warriors would beat this team. The Lakers were one of the better 3 point defending teams in the league with all of their size. They would have no answer for Kobe plus you guys have no bigs to stop Pau and Bynum. 4-1 Lakers.
You are an idiot, Kobe was one of the best on ball defender in his prime, right here he was like 32 guarding a guy like Chris Paul who at the time was like 3 best player in the league.
favorite part of this video is the intensity and mind games between these two. brutally physical yet nobody backing down. we just never see this anymore between superstars.

RIP my brother.
I love all of your defensive videos of Kobe Bryant! Can u make a video of Michael Jordan's on ball defense ?
it is always good to see kobe going at other teams' superstar...he can lockdown man~~
Man I wish u would make more of these they're dope bro
Thanks for another defensive video! You should do this with other players if you have the time
Konphetty He has now, your wish got granted lol.

Make some more defensive highlights vids
Chris Paul thought he could trash talk Kobe
In the match where Chris had 9 assists and 20 points on 50 % shooting? Talk about lockdown defense, lol
Yeah nice try buddy more like 45% and 13 points less than game one and was only able to put 11 shot attempts. talk about someone who more concern on stats than watching the games, pssss

Kobe jersey not baggy this game. Lol
LOL i thought I was the only one to notice. kobe is wearing a jersey that is one size smaller than what he usually wears. The reason why he looked a little more muscular than usual.
it looks weird, I miss the baggy jersey era in the late 2000s and very early 2010s
Where is this lockdown defense you speak of? Lol
Chris Paul cooked his ass I don’t see any lock down defense
out of all the superstars that hve never won a ring, chris paul is easily the most overrated
Definitely overrated. Cant even get out the 2nd round with Blake Griffin in a watered down league

Warriors smallball would destroy this lakers team
but they stopped gasol and randolph this year
lol. Kobe would Killed Curry and Thompson. Gasol would be too much. Beat the Spurs first
+WRASTLINballer you could foul harder here. shooters had less space. not the same game

4-1 Lakers.
they can't stop the thunders big line-up so dont think so
this is y kobe is a 1 way player, he plays defence for the first time and ends up scoring 11 points and his overpowered team still wins

lmao a 1 way player that has the most nba first defensive team selections while being the best scorer in the league for the longest stretch lmao
try to find out Kobe guarding Allen Iverson
King Gorgonyte dumbass he played better defense than the scapegoat
