You don't need to remove the mirrors from the arm. Move the handlebars to the lock, and the mirror rotates with no problem.

suggestion, if you move your handle bars to one side that allows you room to remove your complete mirror without having to use the 17mm. great explanation...thank you

Which mounting part did you get? Is that the reverse thread adapter Y? Looking to get these on my Tiger 900 but the website isn't very helpful!
I had the same problem. I ordered the universal kit off of Amazon and it was about the same price. It came with all the adapters. I don’t remember if it was reverse, threaded or not, but it worked. I think they were just standard threads. but don’t mark me on that.
