  • I put out a poll and you voted for Canvas and here it is! My first mandala tutorial on canvas! I used red acrylic paint with my favorite champagne gold and neutrals! I love the way it turned out! I had literally zero plans for this canvas so you get to see the entire process! If you have any questions just let me know! I had loads of fun doing this so perhaps there will be more in the future? What do you think?

    Wow! You really are resourceful! You're dotting completely differently than the "norm". I never thought to do half of the different techniques you're doing. Good for you! That's how inventions are made. You should patent that little centimeter gadget at the beginning of your video that helps you draw circles. Tweek it a bit -- I don't know how, but I'm sure you will figure it out. Way to go!

      Awww thanks Nancy ♥️ I think this might be the result of teaching myself. Sometimes my ideas work out and sometimes.. well?? Not so much 😂😂😂 You know what’s neat about my DIY thing… if you use the first hole on one end as your center it will make guidelines twice this size.

    You are very creative; you do not need to apologize for not having formal training. I, too had my own “private niche” style when I went for “formal training.” I was on “scholarship.” My chosen schools did not change what I was doing; I did learn foundation in various art and design techniques which expanded what I do: They can’t teach you imagination and creativity-no one can. That is innate to you.
    Creativity and imagination: you are born with this-it is your gift, and what a wonderful gift. You are an artist-even more so: you are willing to share this gift! Absolutely Good Karma. You are a mentor.
    When you share your gift you gain spiritually and artistically and are always ahead of the curve. Formal training cannot teach this. And scholarship: it’s what you can do for the institution-never what they can do for you.
    I have three children all artists from birth. Two went to school on scholarship; the other has done commissioned portraiture since 14 years old. No art school would take him…”we can’t teach him anything. He paints like an old master. We don’t have any faculty member that paints like him!” He received a 4-year scholarship to an academic university and graduated with a degree in computer science! Yes artists are naturally also gifted in math and science!
    So you see I was blessed through acts of good works, sharing what I know, and my parents did the same. We lead a Bohemian lifestyle.

    • @JaDeLRocks
      @JaDeLRocks  Год назад

      I only get cracks if I use certain paints. If yours are cracking then it might be a cheaper brand of paints or super dry climate? Try mixing some slow dry by liquitex. I have some listed on my website. That’ll make it dry slower. Im in humidity. As far as lines.. the slow dry may help that too. I use a lot of paint. Try it and see if it helps. Im sure others will chime in with help too. My cracking paint was apple barrel pastel colors… like any of the white base mattes.

      @@pattikelleher4310 I notice it most with white too. People will tell you your paint is drying too fast but that made no sense to me. It’s correct but misleading. I have no knowledge of why but it seems like the whiter the paint… the better chance of cracks. The apple barrel white and pastels do this every time for me. But their multi surface doesn’t? Something in the ingredients. My advice… find a good white that doesn’t crack and use it to make pastels. Or hopefully the slo-dry will work. Good luck.. 🤞🏻

      There is flow aid in the description and at the end of the video in the supplies. But I just skimmed thru the video and didn’t see me use it. However! It looks like o didn’t add anything until about 2 hours into painting. I can see my paint wells look stirred. So, apparently I did use it as my paints began to dry. I probably didn’t show it because the paint was fine out of the bottle. I always use the flow aid as the directions on the bottle say and I add several drops when needed and stir. I’m so glad you asked this. Thank you ♥️

    Hi there! My first time here. Great job! I’ve been wanting to do a square canvas. You have inspired me. I saw a quick blurb on the dilution of the paint. But couldn’t find it when I looked back. Can you share that here? Thanks.

    • @JaDeLRocks
      @JaDeLRocks  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Sharon and welcome 🤗 I’m so glad you found my channel and are inspired ♥️ I’m not entirely clear what you’re looking for… but I’m a good guesser 😂 Sometimes I do thin my paint a little. I’d say 90 % of the time I use it straight out of the bottle but it might begin to dry a bit after a couple hours, maybe my paint is old or maybe a less expensive brand.. or whatever reason my paint feels to thick to glide around. At that point I will dilute with flow aid. There’s links to it on my site and in the description. Basically, I use 20 parts water to 1 part of the flow aid and keep it in that purple dropper bottle you may see me use in my videos. I use that mixture to thin my paint. It makes the paint more fluid and let’s it.. well .. flow better. I usually add 3 to 10 drops in my paint in the wells of the palette. Mix slow so I don’t cause a ton of bubbles and tap my palette a few times to get out the inevitable bubbles. I almost always show it when I thin my paint. I sure hope this makes sense and helps. Typing my thoughts isn’t my strongest talent 😂😂😂 Let me know if you need anything I’m never too far ♥️♥️♥️
