The SC 450 vintage in honeyburst B stock at £145 and the SC 450 Classic in Black and cream at £120, all came with body and neck binding, i replaced the switch of the classic as it came damaged and replaced the tuners as the Bottom E wasn't great with wilkinsons at £20. I bought a HB Tele Style guitar, and a Jazz Bass style bass (from mid to high range). What I can say based on my experience is: Construction quality is great but hardware and electrics are cheap, but you receive a great instrument considering the price. For entry level is great but it would need a little of work: some fretwork, adjustment, better strings, nut, etc. But again, for the budget I think Harley Benton is great.
The best part of the Harley Benton lineup is they have *Almost all their designs in a Left handed model...Even special editions. More than Fender/Squier and Gibson/Epiphone combined.
Yeah but if you buy from Thomann you get more options and you can ship up to three guitars for the same price without being taxed by some middle man on reverb
I asked them to ship a guitar and a case together and they wouldn’t! Shipping is a minimum of 90 dollars, prices are great but I’m put off by the shipping… I didn’t know reverb had a shop for Thoman
Reminds me of a Framus Les Paul copy I bought in Germany in 1971 while I was in the Army. It was lighter, and smaller, and actually played better than any of the Les Pauls I ever tried. This guitar looks almost exactly the same size.
Let's not forget that Jeff Beck could walk up to any Fenders off a stores rack and make it sound like God. I worked the Namm show as a grunt and materials handler for all sorts of vendors and Jeff was at both the Fender booth and Gibson. He could play any of the guitars on display as well as manage his vender performance like the pro that he was. Once on a Mexican strat he just grabbed from the play section at the booth where hundreds of people had a chance at them. Standard. Only just got the tuning in the ballpark and continued to melt fases. Now with CNC and a shared internet between luthiers including schematics, just making a good electric guitar has become childsplay. Can't wait for what comes next.
I think this model is actually closer to the ESP 1000 model. The SC 550 is the closer homage to LP Standard. Compare them anyway, why the heck not! Enjoy Germany!!
If you check the seial numbers on both they are made in the same factory, probably by the same people on the same machines, as far as i can tell the headstock and electronics are the only difference, and about $700 cheaper. I have this in active white.
@@manofthewest67, I've not held this HB in my hands, but looking at photos and videos of it, the similarity to an LTD EC-401 is clear, but they're not carbon copies. @@manofthewest67, ah, cool. Although I'm not a shredder, so am perfectly happy with 22 frets 😄 I own an LTD EC-1000 and am really curious to hold and play one of these and see how they compare.

That looks nearly identical to the Jay Turser JT-200 I had some years ago. Played wonderfully! Sounded muddy though. I did not want to bother with changing pickups and I scored a great PRS 408, so I sold the Turser. In any event, I do like the look of this style of LP copy better than that of an actual LesPaul.
HB/Thoman have huge selection of left handed guitars unlike other brands- I got SC 400 - probably one of the cheapest and worst they sell- its ok- but when you think that I’ve paid 80$+ for it- its excellent. The Jazmaster on the other hand- is great, but considering the price- it’s probably one of the better choices out there- I like the Roswell P-90 that it comes with a lot fit and finish feels like it’s way more expensive guitar. I’ve bought Firefly tele and squire mustang at the same time- all in the same price range-if i had to pick just one- HB would be my choice
I have the cheap hb telecaster and its fantastic. Ordered a 400 lp gold top and its actuality orange and arrived damaged so sent it back. This one looks good.
I got a HB Fusion-T hardtail Pro at Christmas out of curiosity. Absolutely incredible value at under $400... Seriously rivals guitars at triple the price. I have read workmanship can vary, and maybe I got lucky, but everything from the SS fretwork to the action and intonation was spot on.
The only potential problem is you risk shipping cost if the guitar is not good. Plus, there's a lot of competition from Amazon that has a great return policy.
They hold up really well. I have 8 or 9 of them and they are all played a lot. They're about 5 to 8 years old. They look a lot more like a Big G than the current version. I put in new pickups on all of them and that was a big help tone wise. The tuners are stable, the hardware is fine, and the frets aren't wearing down any faster than my big name guitars. These new ones don't look as Big G, but I'm told the quality is higher than ever. I own guitars from HB up to the big names. The only HB I ever bought that was no go was a cheap Tele. Buy with confidence. Or if you prefer spend a lot more and buy an Epi (I love my Epi's too) it's up to you. That's my 2 cents. Guita Max says the price on this one Landon did in a different color is 199 plus shipping.
They're cheap and the guitars reflect that. I got rid of all of mine. Save your money and buy an SE(PRS budget line), Epiphone, or Squier. You'll be much, much happier.

Nice looking guitar, the headstock is very reminiscent of the Yamaha guitars of the late 70s. These days is hard finding a reasonable guitar that dont play nice. Not like the old plywood cheapies of years gone by.
@@landonbailey My guess would be a Warnecke design. 😉 You've a lot more experience than I do, so I'm not trying to act like I know more than you. It should be noted though, that ESP has built Eclipses with a full thickness body - as in "Gibson Les Paul" full thickness - while the typical EC-1000 has a slimmer body, as well as the belly carve and easy-access carve around the heel-joint area.
My HB was a piece of 💩. Well, it still is, but it's a little better since I fixed the crappy frets and installed Grover tuners. Still needs the electronics and bridge replaced, but I have to fix the cavity route first. Stop pushing this cheap garbage. These things are generally marketed towards beginners, but there is no way a beginner could have fixed mine without spending way more than It'll ever be worth.
Remember that Cort actually produces most of the mid range and cheaper "American" guitars. PRS..Fender..Ibanez..Jackson. The best bang for your buck at the 3 to 500 dollar level, in my opinion, is Schecter. They are all professionally set up in a special setup shop. They grow their own woods. They are precision cut by computer.
Bought a Harley Benton about a year ago and so far its been a very good purchase. But then I'm an old dude easily pleased. I still like playing my fifty year old Harmonys. Truthfully when it comes to guitars you dont need to go in over your head just for braggiing rights.
They don't make schecter guitar's look silly schecter guitar's are better than almost any guitar i played I've played almost every kind of guitar you can think of. Haven't tried a PRS yet though I would like to tryout one though.
My SC Custom II in the nominally same color actually looks way better. And I don't like the sound of those stock pups, mine has the Tonerider Generator-set installed, it sounds killer, but I'm really lousy at playing guitar, I only can play a few chords.
Sorry, man, the SC Custom II is just a single cut guitar in a generic guitar shape, why compare it to a Les Paul? The idea behind the shape was unoriginal already in the 1950s! If at all, it resembles more an ESP. Just look at the control layout!
Looks great, sounds like manure. How can a person not like manure, especially on Mother’s Day. “Ma” and “newer”. Anyway, throw in some new pickups for a couple-hundred bucks and you’ve got a nice guitar. Or for similar money, buy another budget-friendly LP knockoff that already has nice pickups (Sire L7 anyone?).
Actually , this brand is worth nothing used , O zero. I hope you like it enough to never want to get money back for it . A Gibson is still worth as much or more than the money you invested.
Common Fallacy. Why invest in Gibson when an index fund or other legit investments like gold and gives much better return and hedge for a financial crisis. Regular Gibsons unless it's a limited edition that is sought after don't have an annual return or a compounding % for returns of invesrment. A gibson lp standard you bought for $2k 5 yrs ago is most likely still worth $2k. you lost money if you sell that because inflation exists.
How does this compare to the sawtooth heritage or all the other Chinese versions. I think Yardley Benton and th e sawtooth are of higher quality. Or should the epiphone ones better but higher priced? Made in Indonesia is probably more preferable to Chinese ones. I juwet want something quality, because the China clones are all under 200. They look well made, but probably have no fret work done like the Harley begins.
Real nice guitars but they are plagiarising the guitars that are "Rock History". A nice copy (why haven't Gibson and Fender sued them?) of the original.
No criticism of Landon but remember RUclips influencers who diss a product will never get another free one in the post. Criticism of Landon. Saying this is a really nice guitar is valid but what about action, tuning, tone, controls, quality of hardware, fit and finish? I didn't really detect much passion for this guitar in the commentary or the playing.
If that is what you truly and irrationally believe about youtubers then it's a waste of time watching and commenting. To be logically consistent you wouldn't be here.
why would they be making other brands look silly? all thomann does is copy existing guitar designs, get cheap labor and cheap parts overseas then sell it for profit. basically chinese business model. copy and undercut businesses.
@aaronsinger I have a Fender Strat, EVH (fender) Wolfgang, 2 Epiphones, and Harley Benton. As per out of the box, playing the Harley Benton was the best. Also, I received it in 4 days with a case for just over $400. I bought this to try because of previous reviews. It did not disappoint at all.
Misinformation and Virtue Signaling. Thomann isn't undercutting the factories. It doesn't make logical sense if those factories do an order from Thomann when someone else pays more. Would you do a massage if you had 2 customers one willing to pay $20 the other $50? the former would be priced out that's *basic economics* Their guitars are mostly from Indonesia not China, squier and epiphone has mostly chinese guitars so that's a weak invalidation even if that misinformation were true. Harley Benton guitars are cheaper because there are no middle man and dealer commissions taking a cut, they are the direct seller. There is no moral victory and superiority from paying more on other brands because the extra fees goes to white collar workers in 1st world countries that takes commissions not the factories in Indonesia/Asia or the workers of those factories.
Not actually. They use same Indonesian factories as other major brands. Difference is that they are not overpricing and they add feature as standard. Such as stainless steel frets. And they sell directly. Any 250-400$ HB guitar beats any guitar in 700-800 range. Maybe not one thing here or there. But overall…

The SC450 and SC550 are Les Paul styles.
What is the esp a copy of?
@@landonbailey My guess would be a Warnecke design. 😉
You've a lot more experience than I do, so I'm not trying to act like I know more than you.
It should be noted though, that ESP has built Eclipses with a full thickness body - as in "Gibson Les Paul" full thickness - while the typical EC-1000 has a slimmer body, as well as the belly carve and easy-access carve around the heel-joint area.
It's actually a copy of an LTD EC-401.
Its more like an ESP Eclipse than a Les Paul!
I have the original HB SC-Custom in my white collection
My HB was a piece of 💩. Well, it still is, but it's a little better since I fixed the crappy frets and installed Grover tuners. Still needs the electronics and bridge replaced, but I have to fix the cavity route first. Stop pushing this cheap garbage. These things are generally marketed towards beginners, but there is no way a beginner could have fixed mine without spending way more than It'll ever be worth.
what model was that? this model is really nice.
Dude when you go to Germany eat a Donor Kabob and thank me later! I am definitely a Les Paul Pickguard fan for sure.
Im in Ottawa. We have a Shawarma restaurant on every corner :)
"This is a really nice guitar ... I love U - I love me too " ~ LB .......... LOL 🐦👍🤟

The best things I purchased from Thomann is my Engl metal master and Engl 2x12

You’ve unlocked the conspiracy!
Their quality control lets them down.
What does that mean?
That color. I love green.
_and so i know_ what song you're playing there, god i miss Weiland , STP were the balm! , beauty of a guitar there by the way, great review
Agreed and agreed!
Sorry, man, the SC Custom II is just a single cut guitar in a generic guitar shape, why compare it to a Les Paul? The idea behind the shape was unoriginal already in the 1950s!
If at all, it resembles more an ESP. Just look at the control layout!
don't be sorry! :)
Great review. I love that headstock inlay, too!
Looks great, sounds like manure. How can a person not like manure, especially on Mother’s Day. “Ma” and “newer”. Anyway, throw in some new pickups for a couple-hundred bucks and you’ve got a nice guitar. Or for similar money, buy another budget-friendly LP knockoff that already has nice pickups (Sire L7 anyone?).
ehm, it's an ESP Eclipse copy which was aaaa..... an LP Modernised so it was an LP copy and aaaaaa...., OK WHATEVER
😝😂
They said the ocean's on fire
Say it isn't true, say it isn't true
I think I went to school with a guy named Harley Benton 🤣
That's a purdy GHEE-tar!
The red fingerboard is my deal breaker. Do yourself a favor and check out Sire. Probably the best cost/value proposition in the industry.

Always enjoy your reviews.
Thanks for the info. 🤘😎🍁
My pleasure!
It looks really nice. However, I'm broke and can't even afford this cheaply priced guitar.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, how much longer before Landon turns into ANOTHER salesman for the makers???
-8 years? you might want to clean up your public playlists. wow
Ryan told me to tell you you need 2 Princetons
The guitar is not available anymore at thomann...
That’s what I said in the video that you just entirely watched! 😱😀
tune it?
I will right now?
It's a couple of hundred bucks. You spend that on Pepsi. Good grief lol
Yeah! HB is making it difficult to shop guitars anywhere else! This SC Custom and their Amarok 6 are on my hit list. Thanks!
#1 they should call it the "tone man" pretty obvious and #2 we sure are hosed in the great white north eh bud
That’s more of an ESP/LTD copy than a LP.
$278 that’s it? Damn
I don't like the knobs, eh
I don't care where they are made, their cheap and good quality, loads of cheap guitars now, means I can buy more for my money
Looks like a LTD EC-1000😮
It looks like an LTD 256.
Doesn’t make my $4,000 gibson look silly!
Real nice guitars but they are plagiarising the guitars that are "Rock History". A nice copy (why haven't Gibson and Fender sued them?) of the original.
Not available, bummer...
More of LTD but yes lez Paul
Fenders and gibsons are over priced and the build quality lately is sub par
I love it when guys who can hardly play the instrument are telling us all whether or not a guitar is good.
Maybe watch the whole video before leaving a comment like this. Lazy comment
If that is what you truly and irrationally believe about youtubers then it's a waste of time watching and commenting.
To be logically consistent you wouldn't be here.
Are you inspired by Gibson?
On Sunday
too bad gib owns the cool shape of lp. the awful shape is a deal breaker for a lot of folks
Imagine if this was not sponsored and he told the truth, but oh well... promote trash.
why would they be making other brands look silly? all thomann does is copy existing guitar designs, get cheap labor and cheap parts overseas then sell it for profit. basically chinese business model. copy and undercut businesses.
Would you do a massage if you had 2 customers one willing to pay $20 the other $50? the former would be priced out that's *basic economics*
Their guitars are mostly from Indonesia not China, squier and epiphone has mostly chinese guitars so that's a weak invalidation even if that misinformation were true.
Cause they are giving people a chance to buy a guitar an not paying 3,000$ for it.
@@badhabit8824 lol even their fusion guitars are better than fender MIM
Geez... Meranti body n Neck.. Yikes!!?
except they aren't? in any way at all , no one is wanting a harley benton ... you only buy them when that is all you can get
Based on what?
@@landonbailey reality
A very lazy video.
Show us how it’s done
These guitar are no that great.
How?
I'm not impressed. Playing chords in heavy overdrive is not clear. My Sire S3 blows it away.
I am not concerned
@@landonbailey False hype.
It's rip off esp/ltd eclipse, not a LP Gibson.
Which is a copy of a ?
I lost you after 3 minutes of nonsense talking.
you never had me
pure garbage
On. Great vid. Thanks for sharing.
