    I had to leave my job because in leadership meetings , when we talked about who to hire, our hiring managers would say things like " no hiring white people" or "we need to hire only black people before we hire a white person" or "why have we not hired more people who identify as queer". When they did, they would be met with NPCs agreeing , clapping and nodding. I worked there for 9 years and took this abuse for 3 years because I was scared to leave. Finally left the role, and that was among the reasons, I have never felt better.

      Reading your comment is so sad and maddening. Isn’t it incredible how discrimination can run rampant in This direction and it be entirely OK. Hire and keep for your expertise and work ethic not the color of your skin or to fit some agenda .

    DEI encourages discrimination instead of hiring/admissions based on merit. This is what's wrong with the country. We need to stop giving people unfair advantages due to their race, gender or sexual orientation.

      Indeed. Assigning privilege based on arbitrary and immutable characteristics rather than on merit is not only highly debilitating but incredibly divisive and puts power in the hands of those who decide who is in and who is not. It also undermines the idea of working hard to get somewhere.

Eliminate DEI and you will still have manny hires that didn’t earn it. DEI just another boogeyman that only a certain segment of people complains about. Such a cop out and I’m not even that high in DEI but understand why it’s here. If people had legitimate hiring practices we wouldn’t have nonsense like DEI…which benefits white women more than any group

    All the Construction Guys I talked to at work today, says they would spend every penny possible at Tractor Supply. The Hell with the Depot and the other Box Stores. Tractor Supply will be Twice the size within the next year.

    I was CEO of a software company for 35 years until I retired in 2021. I was speaking to the new CEO at a shareholders meeting in Jan and he told me the board of directors eliminated the DEI policies from the company because so many interviewees were insisting people use their "new" pronouns. I say more power to them.

    The level 1 trauma hospital in my area has pronoun badges for staff. I applied for a job at another hospital and during the preliminary screening process, I was asked to answer why I think diversity, equality and inclusion is a good thing. This is for an office job at a clinic. They also wear pronouns badges.

      Diversity, equality and inclusion are definitely good things. But when you switch out equality for equity, that's when an already compromised healthcare system is weaponized to discrimination against particular people it views as unworthy of equal treatment.

    I live very close to where a Tractor Supply store is in the works right now. They sure better hope they straighten themselves out before they bother building the store. If they actually want people to shop there that is. This is a step in the right direction.

    As a black man I totally agree with Kevin. Diversity is nice, but prioritizing hiring the most qualified person for a position benefits the business, the investors, and the consumer. And I personally think removing DEI will motivate those who are less qualified to become more competent.

    As a retired 42 year HR guy, there three simple rules employees should follow to succeed. 1. Come to work on time. 2. Do what the company pays you to do. 3. Mind your own business. Every person I terminated for cause was for breaking one or more of those three rules.

    The customer response to what Tractor Supply was doing was beyond overwhelming... it put the very company at risk... i was tracking responses and people with years of big purchasing with TS were pulling out overnight... not just a few, thousands. They had to do a public announcement because of how bad and how fast and how ferocious the response was.

    I don’t know that I agree with “getting rid of” policies focused on equity - but I do agree that a for profit, private business, can do whatever they want (within the bounds of the law). I work in the public sector and we see things differently, but that’s fine - we’re public sector. These should be different.

This new news has made me feel better about being able to go in to TS again, because the last visit to their store was a great experience and felt bad that I wasn't going to go there anymore.
