Great classic hard fought game between the Chiefs and Raiders. Charlie said Ray Guy had punted for over 18 miles. He would end with over 25. Shane Lechler (also a great Raider punter) would punt for over 39 miles! And Chiefs great Dustin Colquitt got over 30 miles. The '83 Chiefs lacked a running game, to be sure, but I liked Theotis Brown. Needed a better o line.
Thanks so much for all these classics from way back. As far as this game goes, I think you can see why Marc Wilson never really became a top QB. His throwing action was so S-L-OO-W and so long to deliver the ball. They talk about a quick release for QBs' . This wasn't it!
Ken O'Brien had the same issue for the Jet. Long throwing motion (he also held the ball too long) Back then though defenses could REALLY punish you for not having a quick release. When Wilson had to rush a throw his accuracy was nonexistent
