They're so great and hilariously ironic I started my Teagan and Sara adventure in 2007 and they got me through my first serious relationship w "the con." and still love and listen to them now. Excited for the new album. They really are unique and sound like no other.
Sara’s lyrics are short and concise while Tegan’s tend to be long and descriptive; they write like they speak. 😝

Back in the summer of 2005 I was visiting my good friends in New York City for the weekend. That week they had been going through their closets and collecting clothes to donate to Goodwill which were gathered in the living room of their apartment in white trash bags. Being the good friend and upstanding citizen that I am I offered to drop off the bags of clothes at the Goodwill donation center on my way out of the city. I made the unfortunate mistake of having forgotten my laundry bag and had borrowed a white trash bag to use from my friends. When I arrived home I discovered I had donated my laundry from the weekend to Goodwill, including my beloved So Jealous T-shirt with the two hearts on the front. Though I am still very sad about the incident, I hope at least my former T-shirt found a good home. I feel even more sorry for the poor soul who had to sort through my underwear and tube socks...

❤ you know what i think, ladies? i know, who cares, but still. i think about how cool you are, and how talented you are, and how amazing you are, and how important it is that youngsters, everyone else too, but the younger the better, get to be exposed to influences like you, personally and artistically / creatively, and that f#*%ing (or any other profane lyrics, at the risk of sounding like tipper gore) in a song can be, and often is, problematic in that it alienates and excludes (if not offends) many potential listeners on the basis of one silly little word or phrase that could well be substituted for something more sophisticated, and actually truly more punk rock than being like lana del rey (no disrespect to lana, but i would say the same to her, or taylor swift, tove lo, lorde, etc.. or any other myriad and numerous otherwise brilliant artists) by being intelligent (im not calling you stupid) able to be direct and clear and articulate, revelational, and even defiant and rebellious without language associated with common bottom social denominator demographics :) Siouxsie Sioux, the queen of everything and everyone, to my recollection, never used a profane lyric in her songs (maybe i am wrong but none come to mind, even though her sex pistol colleagues used the f word on primetime british tv to a pervy old sod to make a point) and that is saying something :) now you get in that studio and change those lyrics to 'mucking up what matters' immediately :)
