    During those 6 years, it’s also important to note that Van Niekerk got married, moved from South Africa to America, changed training groups/coaches, and became a father. What’s astounding to me is that even with massive life changes, which could easily and understandably shift his priorities and focus, Van Niekerk still worked his way back to the top. What an incredible return.

    He is reminding me of the year he broke the world record. He never ran under 44 in his 2016 season until the race he broke the record. Not saying he will this year but he’s obviously in very great shape I’ve watched and analyzed many of his races. And it’s clear he’s not running all out you can literally see a kick at the 300 but too much of a kick like he’s saving energy. All his races this season have been test runs leading up to Budapest. I see 43.5-43.6 at worlds. If he runs faster than 43.5 than he may eventually be able to break the record again in the coming seasons.

If he can get that handled really well, he could get back down to the low 43’s and that should be enough to take the Gold. But if his relaxation at high speed is exceptional, he could go after the first sub-43 in history. That would be really something.

    Suggestion: When you give facts in the video like, “Van Niekerk broke the sub 10, 20, and 44 second barriers, which only two other athletes have done all time,” could you please name those athletes? You give us a fact that makes us curious but don’t provide the information that would satisfy the curiosity. I know off the top of my head that Fred Kerley is one of the other athletes, but I don’t know who the final one would be.
    Love your videos though, keep doing what you do!
    Edit: I just realized it was Michael Norman. So, the three athletes are Michael Norman, Fred Kerley, and Wade Van Niekerk

    If Bolt had only spent a little less time partying and challenging himself more, I have no doubt that he would be holding the 400m record by a huge margin. This is coming from an American, who recognizes Bolt as an alien when it comes to generational talents.

    • @coolexio
      @coolexio Год назад +1

      Things don't transfer that easily over the different short distances, this is a wild assumption to make seeing as we will never know. Bolt took things as seriously as he could over the distances he actually ended up running and for which he is a clear legend. There is no need to cast aspersions on the achievements of others by making unprovable claims like this.

    • @bysonchi
      @bysonchi Год назад +1

      @@coolexio "by making unprovable claims like this.", that's what fans do, that's what the experts do when they project who will run what time and who will win.
      Bolt ran the 400m early in his career and was very successful. It's not unusual to hear football players talk about what kind of football player Lebron would have been.
      "no need to cast aspersions on the achievements of others ". That sentence makes no sense. No one attacked anyone, stop using words out of context. My comment is about Bolt, try to keep up.

    • @coolexio
      @coolexio Год назад

      @bysonchi I am not sure what a qualitative review of what fans do or don't do has to do with the merits of the specific comments you made, that's a non-statement. Saying fans do this or do that is not an adequate defence of specific statements. I am sure you see the fallacy in this. The devil is in the details.
      Yes, you are indirectly (or even directly) casting aspersions on Wayde's achievements by making a wild projection about Bolt's "what if", that has no real basis. You start with an unfounded premise about Bolt's seriousness. I am not sure what doesn't make sense to you about this, unless you are being deliberately obtuse.

    • @bysonchi

      @@coolexio "Saying fans do this or do that is not an adequate defence of specific statements". Really Einstein, lol. If you didn't notice, I'm a fan, as well as you. You also conveniently missed the part where I showed that professionals also do the same. Nice try though.
      "you are indirectly (or even directly) casting aspersions on Wayde's achievements by making a wild projection about Bolt's what if". Your attempt to come off as intellectual is quite entertaining, lol. Definition of projection, an estimate or forecast of a future situation or trend based on a study of present ones,
      How can anyone make "projections" about a guy who is retired, lol? Experts partake in daily discussions about what someone would run or do under all sorts of conditions and scenarios. We are consistently reminded that Wayde might have lowered the WR how many times more, save for injuries, That's what the internet is for Einstein, and that's ok.
      "casting aspersions on Wayde's achievements", no one mentioned Wayde, except you Einstein, lol. I mentioned Bolt, and you felt the need to impress upon us, your vocabulary.
      "I am not sure what doesn't make sense... unless you are being deliberately obtuse". Why don't you just say slow, or annoying, lol. Fans like you make me laugh, especially when you try so hard to come off as intellectual.
      Let me put it in clear simple terms. All I see is an insecure individual, who is on the internet trying to use words, that are clearly out of context, lol. Hoping to impress strangers, however, I see straight through that hypoplastic cerebrum of yours. Nice try.

      @bysonchi lol and the ad hominem attacks, classic. I don't care what you think of me. You don't know me from a bar of soap. You seem to lack basic comprehension. Your unlettered diatribe isn't even addressing what I am saying. Again, you talking about what experts or fans do is irrelevant to your basic argument. On casting aspersions, you do realize that the video is about the 400m, you brought in Bolt and yes you made projections, I don't know what you understand a projection means, in this case it's a conditional projection based on a "what if" scenario. again, this just shows your lack of basic comprehension, so I know I am beating a dead horse.

    6:44 dude. this is near blasphemy. Wayde is generationally great. A true legend. & to him and everyone else, I'm sure that's enough. Bc calling him the greatest or even entertaining he's the greatest sprinter in history is just plain not right. He has an impressive 3 golds in global competition across 2 events along with his silver at worlds in the 200m. Again, that's highly impressive. My man - Bolt has 8 gold medals....
    at the olympics alone. & 6 of those are individual. At worlds, Bolt has 9 individual medals spread across 2 events, with 7 of them gold.
    and you could say if you wanted "well Wayde is young give him time he'll catch up". To that I'd say that's not quite true - he's really not that young. but moreover, Bolt didn't earn a single global medal when he reached the age of 30. LET THAT SINK IN. Bolt did everything he did at the exact same age as WVN. and by the time of Wayde's injury at that age, if Bolt stopped there, he'd had not 1 but 2 world records, 5 individual global golds, 7 in total golds including relays... i mean there's just no debate.
    not only this but it's ignorant to history. It's hard to adjust for proper scientifically engineered spikes and clean tracks instead of what many had to contend with but take the preWWII era sprinters. you talk about what wayde did in a month. bro... Jesse Owens broke THREE world records and matched a 4th one inside an hour. and it wasn't just a product of time. Not only are the times quick but imagine doing them back to back.
