At the age of 19 I worked a summer in a pharmacy. One day two men came in, shoved a gun in my face because I was nearest the door, and robbed us. They were in the store less than 10 minutes. That happened in 1980, and all these years later I still feel anxiety in certain situations because of it. Yes sir, people did get hurt, and for some of them it will last a lifetime. Don’t want to go to prison? Don’t be a criminal.

OMG.....his sister has a "six year old daughter".....it's the two of them (her and her daughter) who live in the home and she says it's "fine" for him to "come and live with me if Paroled." (his medical history is of mental illness that requires daily medication to control his anger issues..and he is not compliant with that medication!!!) She is setting herself and her daughter up for potential DISASTER !! She is being VERY naive about this. Just because you CLAIM you "have become a Christian" is NO guarantee for future changed behavior. I hate it when people invoke the "I've given my life to Jesus Christ" statement and expecting we're to believe he will "never ever be a bad boy ever again." I've been a Christian for 68 years of my 80 years on this planet so far, and that is NOT how Christianity works my friends. I have fallen short many many times, and gone to a few dark places in my 68 years as a Christian....because although I have been forgiven by my Lord, I am NOT PERFECT, I am STILL capable of falling short until the day I take my last breath on this earth. ......and....HE has serious "mental health" history and issues as well. Being a Christian does not mean your mental health issues are going to "magically...go away." And there you go Mr. P. - if you truly have "accepted Jesus as my Savior"...Judge Boyd (at God's hand)...just gave you your FIRST TEST AS A NEW CHRISTIAN. (perhaps God is saying: "Now you can begin your new ministry right here in prison, where the need is GREAT"..???????

The guy did himself absolutely no favors by saying no one was hurt as if he had that going for him. Then when he said he was praying for them that was even worse. That doesn’t make him out to be what he thought it would namely a holy man. It made him out to be a self righteous morally superior man. I’m not a religious person but one usually prays for those who are in trouble or in a lesser moral position. This made him look like he was in a better position than they were so he would pray for them.
What he should have said was “I can’t imagine all the hurt I caused them and I’ll never expect them to forgive me. I don’t deserve their forgiveness. I will spend all 20 years trying to understand why I did it”.
The lawyer should not have let him say a word. He isn’t the brightest tool in the shed.

As a victim of violent crime, if the excuse of drugs, being off meds, and a bad childhood are used as excuses, and then asking for leniency because he drank the Jesus water in jail, I can tell you exactly where he can stick his prayers.
What an insult. He has no right to even think about the victims, let alone pray for them.
Must be nice to escape consequences by asking for forgiveness of a god while others live in pain and nightmares and lifelong consequences. But hey, he didn't hurt anyone, right?
He's not remorseful, and he has no idea who he is. He said it himself: He's doing ministry because it's what his mom and sister wants. This guy and his 'remorse' is about as genuine as his prayers.

I believe if love could reverse this defendant’s actions his Sisters love would have made him an Angel. But he is far from an Angel. I am not sure the true lightbulb of his actions has turned on in his head. I don’t think it has. It appears to me that his fear of prison, of being locked up is his prime motivation.
He displayed very little genuine remorse but a whole lot of word salad, God, prayers etc…What he hears his Sister say. He mimics her words but unlike her, his heart is not on board. Because he listens to his Sister she may be able to encourage his redemption. I hope she encourages him to do all the programs available in prison.beginning with VICTIM AWARENESS & Alcohol Anonymous. He may find redemption by the time he reaches parole status…
I honour & respect the Judges decision. I would fear for his Sister & her child with him in her home. I don’t believe he is reformed anywhere near enough or truly aware of the danger he could be..
Wish Sister well & hope one day he will be able to return the love & care she gives him.

Anyone else tired and offended of people using god as his get out jail free card? This man shows no remorse. Speaking as someone who’s had an abusive childhood, you don’t get to blame your problems on that as adults! Once you’re old enough you make decisions how you live your life, they are your choices! I have a friend who wanted me to be in a documentary overcoming abuse. I said as a child i didn’t ask to be brought into this world, I was given no choices growing up and certainly no voice. That changes when you become an adult. I do not celebrate being “normal”. Happily married many years, own a business, have a home etc. My choice. I’m not special or inspirational. She thinks I am, lol. Personally I feel it’s time to stop coddling people, I’m sorry your start in life was awful, so change it. Why people continue making horrible decisions. Change is freaking hard work! Grow up tinkerbell! Hope he at least gets an education in prison, becomes a mentor or teaches bible studies. Oh, and apologize to your victims.

Least corrupt judge of the many I have seen. but I assume you have no idea what corrupt is. she follows the law…his crimes could have gotten a life sentence…probably should have. he can minister in prison.
