- Rob Davies a writer for several UK Classic Motorcycle magazines, interviews Les Whiston, one of our lesser know mechanical geniuses in the UK. Les not only produces the Legendary Rob North Racing Frames, but specializes in the BSA and Triumph Triples from the 1970's. He also on occasions turns his hand to a bespoke machine, hence the T140 we see today
I would like to thank all those that watched and enjoyed the videos. I had many more lined up for your pleasure and delectation, but sadly, cancer of a verty virulent kind has got between me and my plans, so I shall carry on is best as possible. Many thanks to Les and Denise for making my dream come true. I bought a Rob North frame kit from them in 2012 with the goal of racing in the Classic TT which I managed to achieve in 2017, finishing 46th in the Classic Superbike race and so becoming the last ever person to race a Rob North Triple over the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course . This would never have been possible without the help and advice from Les. Andy Lee.
Another great video Rob, les certainly knows his stuff, some cracking machines built there on our doorstep in sedgley, will look him up and keep his number, never know if I may need his services in the future, the 750 triumph you went out on sounds beautiful, found it quite funny at the end of the video when you couldn't switch the engine off, found myself looking really hard for the ignition switch, but I couldn't see it either lol 😂
One look at les's jumper convinced me that he is an expert on classis Britis motorcycles.
Very interesting video in more ways than one. Love the bike, except for the headlight shape, sounded gorgeous though.
I thought the speedo wasn’t working until you mentioned the 20mph reading, it must have barely moved!

Did Les have access to any original drawings when remanufacturing the triple engines?
Actually this is an excellent question, and when I get the opportunity I shall ask. Having said that I am fighting a vevv Nast cancer, so can't promise a speedy answer..
