I was the first child my parents had, and being new parents, they of course had a ton of trouble getting me to sleep. For my entire infancy, the only way they could consistently make me go to sleep was to put on this album and walk me around for an HOUR. According to them, one of their friends met Dave Kerman and told him about me, and he sent baby-me a letter. I don't have said letter but I still like the story. Thanks for the unreal music, 5uus!
One of the greatest opening tracks of any 'modern' releases I encountered.back in the 90s. I simply could jot believe how it was possible for a band as ferociously accomplished as this to NOT become heroes within the, uhm, burgeoning new "progressive" rock scene. I myself was a "traditional" progressive rock fan, but this thing turned the whole deal around; not deliberately "provocative" as with Mr. Bungle, nor ghastly "neo" or "retro"; just totally vital in immediate message of sonic concept and gusto. The skewed bass part in the middle remains one of my fave passages of any rock tune. 5UU's saved my day when I thought it was all over and mdone with. And opened the gate to so infinitely much out there.
A friend brought this over to a party at my house, I'll never forget that moment, even over all the conversation I was like, wow! A part of me was elsewhere...
The great thing about this music is it forces your mind to find the semblance and order amidst the confusion and noise. Just when you think you have it the whole dynamic shifts. You have to listen and analyze.
This is Avant Prog: avantgarde music mixed with progressive rock. Avant Rock is experimentalisms on the basic form of rock, se beefhart/pere ubu etcetera. Zappa is eclectic, played every genre including avantprog, avantrock and avantwhatever. My 2 cents.

unreal skywalk through rough and smooth memory waves slowly reaching the sands of heaven
This kind of terrified me when I first heard it, but now I can't stop listening to it!

Merzbow does that too.

Bob's music does that to you..
Reminds me of thinking plague
both bands are related!
@@Endzeitstille thank you! Very nice music .😱😇
Good ears!
Well, this is one of the most WTF songs I've ever heard... and I, definitely, not am a non-WTF music listener.
Awesome
and girls of the 5uu's...
note the amazing drumming - Dave Kerman?!
Best American Avant Rock (forgive me, Zappa) ever.
Take that, elitist Euro snobs!
We'll gladly take it. We already took Bob, he lives in France now.:DD
it really isn't
So says the elitist label phobe....relax
awsome. But there is none better than FZ. I actually like the instrumental stuff more.
